Stopped in here because of the name and chatted with a very nice local and the bartender was friendly and sweet. We had a few seven/sevens at 3.00 a drink and a pizza that was in house made – frozen and cooked in a pizza oven for 10.00 it was hearty and decent. My problem is they have a huge fly problem. There were several of those suckers buzzing all around the bar and that is just not acceptable in a food establishment.

Our experience here was so bizarre I had to write about it. My girlfriend and I were on a road trip through Wisconsin and wanted to find a place to grab a burger and a beer. We saw the Buck Snort and due to the name, had to check it out. I should say up front that we were Minnesotans driving through Wisconsin on a Sunday when the Packers were in a playoff game.(They were winning at the time so all should have been right with the world). We walked in about 3:30 in the afternoon and everybody decked out in Green and Gold turned from the game to size us up. After the initial discomfort of our entry, we walked further in to find a place to sit. An older woman who I can only assume worked there walked up to us with a confused look on her face and asked«Is there something I can help you with?». This confused me because I thought the fact that we were there for food and drink could be assumed. We stated that we were there to get a beer and a burger at which time we were informed that the kitchen did not open for another hour. She must have caught my sideways glance towards the large buffet of food spread on a near by table because she interjected«That is for the regular’s only». She must have ascertained that her mission of making us feel unwelcome was accomplished because without so much as a second glance she walked away. We did also ask about a beer. Wouldn’t you want to take our beer order? My partner and I about burst into laughter due to the Twilight Zone atmosphere. Seeing that we were not welcome we ventured back to the car. Fortunately we only had to drive a short distance to Menomonie to a place called The Log Jam to find a great beer selection and some of the best burgers I’ve had in recent memory. They were also watching the Packers game there but were much more inviting. So thank you Buck Snort for inadvertently pointing us towards an establishment that deserves our business.

Friday night fish fries is what its all about! We go there every Friday! Not only we get bread and butter, AND salad bar too! The beer battered fish fries is always crispy on the outside and fluffy and flaky on the inside! Man I have no idea what they put in the tartar sauce, but this stuff is like a drug: D The people are just soo darn nice and welcoming!
