Description

Specialties

In the Gold Country of Placer County, an hour’s drive west of Tahoe, sits America’s only tasting room and bottle shop for true cider. We currently offer cider (fermented apple juice), perry (fermented pear juice) and pommeau (apple «port’) from 7 different countries. Come to our small shop and explore the world of fine ciders.

History

Established in 2013.

I’ve been making and enjoying ciders and perry for about 25 years, crushing the apples on my great-great grandfather’s apple press. The shop is a dream of mine. We opened in May of 2013 in the Colfax Freight Building, a National Historic Landmark built circa 1880. The building is where gold, fruit, lumber, etc was collected to transfer onto the trains that would stop in Colfax. Our shop is in the old scale room where Grampa Lee used to weigh his wagons before loading the produce onto the train.

Meet the Business Owner

Business Owner

Lived at Lake Tahoe until I was 12, then moved to the Bay Area. In the fall, our family would often come to my family’s ranch above Colfax to press apples into fresh juice («sweet cider). I moved to the ranch in 1985 and started making real cider soon after.
