History
Established in 1970.
The first Sir Walter Raleigh Inn opened in Bethesda, MD in 1970. Over the years, there have been multiple locations throughout the DC metro area, including Wheaton, Ellicott City, Montgomery Village/Gaithersburg, Falls Church, Springfield and Georgetown to name a few. There is now only one location, our College Park/Greenbelt MD location, opened in 1976. The current owners are Jerry and Ronnie Cosker. Jerry was an original waiter when the first location opened in Bethesda in 1970. He was a high school math teacher from Connecticut attending graduate school at Catholic University. He liked the restaurant business so much, he left teaching and went into management. He became the purchasing manager and then a partner in 1992. In 2005, the principal owners sold the remaining locations, and Jerry and his wife, Ronnie, became sole owners of the College Park location. Jerry is proud to have been part of the growth and tradition of the Sir Walter Raleigh Inns for over 44 years.
