Joanne is a very talented Esthetician who received her training at the Von Lee School of Esthetics in 1993. Von Lee is the 1st licensed school in the US devoted exclusively to esthetics. Von Lee has been successfully training professionals in Skin Care and Make-​up Artistry for over 30 years.

Joanne started her career at a salon in Bowie and a year later moved to Expressions in College Park where she has been making women beautiful for the past 19 years. She has a talent for shaping eyebrows that compliment your facial shape. Skin care and facials are of special interest to Joanne. She can help keep your skin looking young and radiant. All facials are customized for your individual needs.

I have been going to Joanne for over 10 years ! I routinely get compliments on my eyebrows and how great they look and I owe it all to Joanne! I started to see Joanne when I was a student at UMD and still see her now. The location is very convenient to UMD and there is free parking. I travel from DC to see her and would not think to go elsewhere! I highly recommend Joanne as an Esthetician!

I had my first Brazilian wax today. I never went to a waxing place because I’ve witness a girl literally getting her skin ripped off of her… I was traumatized, but after viewing many comments on Unilocal for different salon I decided to give this one a try. Here are a few reasons why I would definitely return again in the future:
1) Dominick and Joanne made me feel very very comfortable!
2) The place was very clean (to me this is the most important thing because you do not want anything to come into contact with your skin if it isn’t clean!)
3) She does not double dip!
4)The whole process was fast!
Overall my experience here was great! :) You should definitely give this place a try! It is worth it!

After reading the reviews on Unilocal,I decided to give Joanne a try because she is super close to my house. I’m so glad trusted the reviews because it was a great hair removal experience.
Before Joanne I had never waxed, only sugared, my bikini area because I was told that sugaring was less painful. My waxing experience with Joanne changed my mind on that theory. It was quick and relatively painless.
Joanne is very welcoming and personable. She does not double dip and her space is clean and bright. I will be going back again and would recommend her services to friends and family.

Joanne is wonderful, I was nervous as all hell but she kept things moving along. This was my first time getting a BW but it was worth it.
Even though it hurt like hell, she was very quick! And oddly enough (having my whooo haaa touched by a stranger) I felt comfortable with her and I will definitely keep coming back!
BTW when arriving just ask the person at the front desk of the apartments that you are looking for the salon, because there is no signage! You would never think that a dental office and salon would be located here. The salon is very bright and clean!!!

Joanne was very friendly and meticulous. I got a brazilian wax and she made me feel very comfortable and worked quickly and efficiently. She doesn’t double dip – you can tell she takes pride in cleanliness. She even tweezed after she finished waxing. It was $ 53 after the $ 5 off Unilocal checkin coupon – overall a fair price. I’ll definitely be returning!

I’ve been going to her for almost a year for my Brazilians, and I can honestly say that I have no complaints about my experience with Joanne! What I love most about my experience is that she keeps you informed on what she’s doing and the products that she’s using. She’s also very personable! The time flies by so fast when you’re getting your wax, because you’re talking about everything under the sun!
I would definitely recommend her to anyone getting a wax for the first time, you won’t regret it!

Whaaaaaatttttt! This is EASILY the BEST Brazilian I’ve gotten in life. So so soft, so so supple. I didn’t think it could get any better than my first experience with Ebony in Georgetown, at M3 Massage, but I was completely floored by Joanne.
She did that! Lol if I seem overly excited, it’s because I am. I had a three wax special at M3 that had just expired, and I was on the hunt for another good esthetician that didn’t cost an arm, leg, and elbow for decent work. I was also bummed that the quality with Ebony wasn’t as super-​amaze as it was when I went my first time. Furthermore, that trek to Georgetown was not the most fun, especially during weekdays. Unilocal led me to Joanne because she was close, and she had stellar reviews.
Everyone is right! This woman is so thorough, you will not have a trace of a peach fuzz left. She preps you for the harder jolts of pain and talks to you to keep your mind off of it. She doesn’t rush, yet she’s very efficient in her process. Expect your skin to feel as smooth as it did when you first were born! It’s that good! Completely clean, sterile, lovely environment!
Finding your way in and out of here may be tricky, but after you do, you’ll be so happy! She is stamped with my seal of approval!

Discovering this location made my day last week. I usually drive half an hour away for a bikini wax, but decided to look on Unilocal to see if there was a good salon in Greenbelt, and the good reviews encouraged me to try Joanne. What a nice place! I would never have guessed there was a good salon in that apartment complex. The entire salon looked nice, but mainly I saw Joanne’s room, which was very clean and bright and comfortable. Joanne was super friendly and wonderful, and did a great job. Dominick, who was at the front desk, was also very friendly. I will definitely be using her in the future instead of driving far to another salon. I came in for a last minute appointment, and was happy to be able to get right in. The appointment only took 10 minutes, which was also nice.

Joanne is the sweetest lady and I love coming to her for waxing! I used to get waxing done in HS but stopped for many years and recently came back to it and decided to come to Joanne first. I have seen Joanne a few times for her 1hr facials… and she is fantastic! Very attentive, and has a great touch. My skin feels great and refreshed. She really knows her stuff and will make you feel relaxed… of course, how can you not when getting a facial! And the added shoulder massage is the perfect ending… You’ll leave with your skin positively glowing.
I will definetaly be back to treat myself and my skin!

Joanne is so nice and professional! She was quick and kept me distracted with conversation throughout the process to keep my mind off the pain of a Brazilian wax.
The location is a bit hard to find. It’s at the bottom of an apartment complex. You can’t see any signage from the outside… you have to go inside the building, down the hall, and then you’ll find it pretty easily. Once your inside, the salon is surprisingly modern and very nicely decorated. Would definitely recommend!

This was my first time working with Joanne and she was great. She was quick yet precise with the brazilian. She uses a soy based wax and a zinc oxide wax with the strips for removal. She focused on getting all the stray hairs as well after waxing with tweezers. After waxing, she uses an antiseptic cream that helps soothe the skin as well as prevent hair growth from coming back too quickly.
Location — Enter Westchester Park (housing community) and it’s on the bottom floor of a highrise apartment. It’s not in the main 6200 building but it’s in the 6100 building — park anywhere (even though the signs say otherwise) and enter through the door on the right that says «Shopping entrance.» You’ll pass a mini mart to the right and the door on the left is for Dominick’s and Joanne’s waxing/​skin care room is right when you walk in.

I wish I could say I got a great wax from Joanne but I did not get a chance to. I arrived for my scheduled appointment and was told that she had an emergency with her daughter and was not there… Ok. Thats fine, im a reasonable human being I know shit happens that you cant predict… But a courtesy call would have been nice. I drove 30 minutes to get there.
The women at the front desk said she had left me numerous messages but there were none on my phone.

This is my second time getting a wax done by Joanne. SHE IS FRIENDLY, QUICK, and most importantly, she is SANITARY!!! The products Joanne uses, makes the hair grow back slowly. At least for me it does. She uses a new stick for each dip in the wax.
I am having a little car trouble but desperately needed a Brazilian for my track meet on Sat. I caught 2 buses and a train from Crystal City today to get a wax by Joanne. I passed so many metro accessible salons with estheticians, but I chose to come to Joanne because she is so sanitary and quick. I got a Brazilian, underarms and abdominal done in less than 15min. And it all looks GREAT!!! Thanks Joanne, I will return once my hair decides to grow back :)

I’ve seen Joanne a few times for leg and/​or underarm waxing– first at her previous location, and more recently at Dominick’s.
The location is pretty random– it’s on the first floor of a giant high-​rise apartment building, there’s no sign from the outside, you have to go in a random side door, etc. so just know that in advance and don’t get confused when your GPS takes you into this totally residential area that seems to have no businesses! (and maybe leave an extra few minutes to figure out where you’re going)
That said, Joanne has always been great. She does a very thorough job, she’s quick, she’s friendly, and she’s probably the most client-​focused/​-​friendly aesthetician I’ve had, in the sense that she will work really hard to make sure she can fit you in, that you can get what you need, etc. She’s often willing to be flexible with her hours if you contact her, especially in advance of holidays and the like when things are busy– she makes a real effort to make sure all her clients can be seen. I honestly can’t think of anything I’d change about the service that she provides.
