Watch your debit/credit card statement after visiting this establishment! I recently went here for a vet school/med school mixer event and ordered one double cran and vodka. First off it was in no way a double and they charged 5 dollars. I left a dollar tip and looked at my debit card statement and the total charged was 8 dollars. SNEAKY. Sure 2 extra dollars charged to my card isn’t going to break me but its the principle behind it. I absolutely refuse to do business with an establishment filled with thieves.

PLEASEREAD!!! So a groups of friends and I went here on Saturday night. Went to the bar to order a drink and when my girlfriend and I got our drinks there was barely any ice in our drinks so I asked the bartender if I could get some more ice and she replied with«no I can’t give you anymore ice». So I asked her if she was serious because I thought she might just have been joking, I was wrong about that and she responds with a snobby attitude«yes tough luck!». So once I got my tab for those 2 drinks and I left her no tip for her being rude, she looks at the tab and says«are you kidding me you aren’t going to leave a tip because I didn’t give you more ice?!» And I said«yeah, I would’ve liked for my drink that i payed $ 18 for to be cold and not at room temperature.» She then proceeds to call the bounce over and points at me and says«YOU!!! GETOUTGETHIMOUT!!!» The bouncer comes over to me, makes me put down my drink(during all this my girlfriend is in the restroom) and starts forcing me out the back door I said in a normal tone of voice«can I just wait for my girlfriend to come out from the restroom because i have her phone and can’t call and tell her i got kicked out and we’ll leave», he says«no sorry bro time to go.» I ask again…“c’mon man just let me wait for my girlfriend to come out from the restroom and we’ll leave.” He responds with«You got 3 seconds to get out.» I didn’t want to cause any problems so I left out the back door. I didn’t know you could kick someone out of somewhere for not leaving a tip because you get terrible service?!? The whole thing was handled in a very unprofessional manner and was completely disrespected. I believe the bartenders name was KIMBERLY, and I’m not sure how she just expects people to tip her when she treats her customers like that. Absolutely ridiculous!!! All this happened because I just wanted a little more ice in my drinks and she proceeded to act like a child and then kick me out. I’ve never been kicked out of anywhere EVER in my life and this was one the worst ways I’ve been treated as a customer. I know for a fact if that was my bar, Kimberly sure as hell wouldn’t be working there. So I would advise all you to stay away from this establishment, or just expect your drink to have minimal ice and be prepared to potential get kicked out if you get HORRIBLE service and don’t leave a tip.

We visited Aggieland this past Fall and were excited to visit this pub again. The staff was still exceptional. There was still a lot of room. And the prices were still good. But I was sad to see that 2 years later this place had begun to transform into a mainstream college bar. The music was so, so loud; we couldn’t hear ourselves talk. They stopped carrying the produce to make culinary drinks — no strawberries or basil or mint — because they said it would usually go bad since that’s not what college folks order usually. And the fresh, new pub feeling had made way to a slightly club-like atmosphere. It’s probably good for their business considering that cater to the early 20s who are still in college, but we’ll probably not stop by again since the drinks I was most excited about don’t exist anymore.

Basil Whippet’s Pub and Apothecary lounge now has new signs up that look cool. Not sure what happened to my review and photos of opening night, both appear to be missing from Unilocal. Once again, we stopped by the night they opened and found the downstairs pub pretty much empty with the exception of two guys at the bar, and a few well endowed waitresses. Apparently the dress code here has no reservations when it comes to prominently displayed and celebrated cleavage. No complaints. Upstairs at the Apothecary lounge(which was un-named at the time) we found an upscale crowd of well dressed people quaffing hard liquor in what reminded me of a New York City warehouse bar club. Great view of Northgate and the campus from up here on the second floor. Good times.
