Nunzio Ristorante Rustico

I met up last night with a small group of girls to celebrate a birthday. None of us had ever been to Nunzio’s. It exceeded all of our expectations. Fabulous food, fantastic service, classy atmosphere! The owner even came to our table to wish our guest a happy birthday. Everyone treated us well and the food was superb! I do not usually frequent Italian restaurants (growing up with Italian food has made me super finicky for this fare), however, I would absolutely come to Nunzio’s again and I highly recommend it!

I came here once when I first lived in the area but back then didn’t have the same appreciation for food I have now. I was a late addition to the group but was easily able to squeeze in with the group of 8 and was excited to be back. We had two bottles of wine to start and asked initially if they’re was any in house even tho it’s byo
I think we started with the antipasto rustico which was really good n fresh. I started with the lobster bisque which was well balanced. As we continued eating and drinking we were graciously presented with 2 house wines as we were running low. We opened one before I left and this was tasty.
Definitely went well with the veal osso buco, which I love. N this had good flavor n was tender served I think over risotto? So many things I want on the menu but can’t say to the specials and looks forward to coming back. Was nice to see the chef greet us and the other tables. What a great comforting meal and great way to end my long day of federal donuts, the PIFA street fair, hitting up Dinics at reading market, crown fried chicken lol n the Haddon heights rhythm and brews festival. It’s cool that they offer cooking course and I look forward to coming back in the future!

We just had dinner at Nunzio’s this evening and the food was really delicious however– I ordered one of the specials, Osso Buco. When we ordered I asked our waiter the price of the Osso Buco and he said it was $ 29. When we got the bill it we were charged $ 35.50 for the Osso Buco. The owner apologized and was very gracious– giving us a gift card to make up for the issue. We will definitely return.

Came here for date night during SJ Restaurant Week. It was crowded for a week night the entire time we were there. Our waiter quickly came over after we were seated to open our wine, and throughout the night he was incredibly happy and provided service with a smile. It took a few minutes to place our order, but after that our food came out fairly quickly.
The Restaurant Week menu starts with a little amuse bouche that everyone gets: a bite of asparagus ricotta torte. We had almost forgotten about it. Since it came out with our appetizer course and there was no introduction of it, it took about 3 seconds to realize. Food was just kind of plopped down on the table. The torte itself was good though; it had a flaky crust and soft creamy filling.
For the first course, I chose the tuscan ribolitta soup with hot sausage and beans. It had hearty, spicy flavor to it and lots of veggies. My boyfriend got the burrata salad with proscuitto, pears and chili oil. He said it lacked a little flavor, besides bite of the chili oil, and I agreed it could have used some fresh salt and pepper to tie it all together.
For our second course, I chose the branzino with risotto and he chose the wild boar with gorgonzola gnocchi. My fish was lightly fried, which I wasn’t expecting and it wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. Combined with the risotto, it made for a rich entrée even though the portion was on the smaller side (by typical Italian-​American restaurant standards). My boyfriend’s boar was completely different flavors. The menu had «black pepper rub» stated but it also came with (a lot of) sweet sauce that was reminiscent of barbecue sauce. Totally not what we were expecting. Paired with the tang of the blue cheese sauce on the sweet pumpkin gnocchi, I could see where they were going but IMHO, it was a bit too much.
For dessert, I chose the classic cannoli (one of my favorites) and he chose a puff pastry with cream and berries. The cannoli is amazing. The cream is thicker than ones I’ve had but incredibly smooth with a sprinkling of chocolate chips. My boyfriend’s puff pastry was not the light and airy kind. It was very crisp on the outside and throughout as well. It was also overly sweet so we scooped out some of the cream to eat with the berries.
Overall, I really enjoyed my meal but I feel like the options that my boyfriend ended up gave him the short end of the stick. I wouldn’t be opposed to coming back and ordering from the regular menu, but probably not try Restaurant Week here again.

Solid Italian food with some really great specials. The wait staff in this place, in my opinion, stands above most of the other restaurants on the avenue. The only drawback, this place can get really crowded on a Friday or Saturday night. Therefore, it can be really loud. If you’re going to give this place a try, come during the week or right when the restaurant opens for dinner. You’ll have a much more quiet/​relaxed dining experience.

My wife and I had dinner there last night. She ordered the pasta with marinara sauce. The portion was small and the price was $ 17.50. No soup or salad came with the meal. The sauce was good, but just feel like we got ripped off with the price of this dish. They don’t have the price of this meal on the menu, just the kids meal for about half the price.
I ordered the veal with side of pasta. The veal was very very thin, but I liked the breading and enjoyed my dish. The portion was average.
I really wanted to try the soup, but won’t pay $ 9.00 for a cup of soup. Ok, I’m cheap.

Had the lobster bisque and it was very good, it could of been a little hotter. Girlfreind had eggplant parm and it was very hoid, I had the veal parm as well very good. The desserts were the highlight, I had the homemade cannolli and we had the ice cream. Very good.
Place us a little loud, had a seat near the door was not too great, the, waiter could of had a better personality. The meal was good as a reminder it’s a byob

awesome meal with great friends on Friday! Luca our server was excellent not a drop of food was left on anyone’s plate and we had a party of 6. Loved the large round table we had in the front window! My husband had the wild boar and loved it! Can’t wait to go back

Great place, nice interior, service was outstanding, had the wild boar special and it was delicious. Overall a wonderful experience.

The food was just OK. Did not have much flavor. The only Italian restaurant that I know of that did not have olive oil on the table. When they brought the bread out, it came with a little bowl of some light green stuff to dip your bread in, it had no flavor either. Would not recommend this place.

By far my favorite Italian Restraunt on Haddon Ave. The stuffed veal chop is amazing and they have a diverse menu of amazing Italian food. Home made pasta and fresh order make this the go to or a fancy dinner date!

I went to Nunzio’s on November 10 2015 to treat my sicilian mother to what I expected to be a great Italia meal on her 80 th birthday. She was excited to see that Nunzio was from puglia where we are visiting after Macedonia this spring. I had been a customer since the Monte Carlo days. Service was great until my mother’s meal arrived. She ordered the linguini pescatore red. It came out white. They took it back and threw some red sauce on top and brought it back. The first thing my mother noticed was the lack of red pepper flakes. We ate but she hardly touched the meal.
I left a nice tip left and I will never go back. Il Fiore would never insult me like that. Just goes to show that people have no class.

I was told that Nunzio’s in Collingswood had excellent food. After eating there I will say the food was very tasty.
But for the money we spent I thought the plates were skimpy from the appetizers to the main corse.
The only good thing I can say is that the staff was very friendly and were attentive to your needs. Sad to say the best part of the meal was the coffee and dessert.
I won’t be going back any time soon.

My husband and I and another couple had dinner at a nearby sushi restaurant and decided to come here for dessert since we still had a bottle of wine that we didn’t finish. We had such a great experience — even though it was already 9 pm and we were only coming for dessert, our waiter (wish I could remember his name) was so friendly and polite and he made it such a great experience. Everyone ordered dessert and coffee and I got the mussels — everything was delicious, served fast. Our waiter even brought some of their homemade lemoncello for everyone as we finished with our dessert. As we were leaving, he even opened the front for us. Definitely a 5 star experience — can’t wait to come back for a full dinner!

After hearing for years that this was one of the best Italian places in Collingswood, we finally got to try it out. The interior is really cool, as many others have already said. We started with fresh bread and a pesto dipping sauce. The bread was fresh and really good and my husband and I thought the dipping sauce was just ok. I got a Caesar salad and I was expecting something more than what I got, but it wasn’t bad. My husband ordered the veal medallions with sage and prosciutto with mozzarella. He liked it well enough, but when I tasted it I thought the sage was a bit heavy handed. I ordered pollo fiorentina which was outstanding. The Demi-​glaze in particular was rich and brought it all together. We ended with tiramisu which was absolutely wonderful, and I don’t usually like tiramisu. Overall, though it seemed a bit expensive, we had a very nice meal.

My best friend and I had an enjoyable dinner at Nunzio’s. The décor is just fantastic — made to look like you are eating in an Italian village. The servers were very efficient and friendly. First, the server brought bread to the table which wasn’t anything special, along with a small bowl of creamy pesto sauce for dipping, which was pretty good. For my appetizer, I ordered the lobster bisque which was creamy, perfectly seasoned and had nice lumps of seafood in it. For my main course I had the eggplant parmesan, which came with a side of spaghetti. The eggplant parmesan was just perfect — one of the best I’ve eaten. The side of spaghetti was rather plain tasting and an afterthought. My friend had ravioli which she said were delicious and tasted homemade. For dessert, I had a cannoli which was so good. The shell was really crisp and flaky and it had a delicious ricotta filling and some fruit garnish and chocolate sauce. My friend had the tartufo and she said it was really good.
Overall, this is a solidly good Italian restaurant with good service and moderate prices. I would definitely return.

I’ve been here twice now, and it’s got to be one of my favorite restaurants in the area. The décor inside is really cool, it’s made to look like you’re eating on an Italian street. They always have a lot of daily specials, and I will admit I’ve only ordered specials here. On my first visit, I had a crab cake appetizer, and a gnocchi dish with cranberries, wild boar and a gorgonzola cream sauce. Both were absolutely fantastic. The gnocchis were handmade, and oh so pillowy. On my most recent visit, I had the lobster bisque to start (absolutely incredible. smooth and buttery with huge chunks of lump crab meat) and a veal chop stuffed with broccoli rabe, prosciutto and provolone, topped with a red wine demi glacé and mushrooms. I substituted the potato on the side with penne alla vodka, and it came with steamed swiss chard. Everything was absolutely delicious. Veal is apparently their main specialty, and I can certainly believe it after eating my massive meal chop. I brought many members of my family, and everyone was happy with what they got (veal marsala, veal saltimbocca, filet mignon, veal parmesan, spaghetti and meatballs), but I think I ordered the best :] My main gripe with the specials is that they don’t have a print-​out: the server tells you what they are when you sit down. The issue with this is a. there are so many it’s hard to remember the details on all of them! and b. they do not tell you the price, and wow was I surprised to see how much my specials were. The lobster bisque was $ 10 (you’d expect most soups to fall in lower than $ 8) and the veal chop was $ 37! $ 37 when most other plates on the menu are $ 25 and under was a significant price increase, and I wish it had been reflected so I could’ve made an informed decision. Nobody wants to ask how much something is at a nice restaurant, but I also felt extreme surprise and guilt when I found out how much it was when the bill came.
The service has been wonderful both times I’ve been. And they’re a BYOB so you can bring your own wine, and splurge on the food (though hopefully you know ahead of time how much you’re splurging!). So all in all it’s an absolutely fantastic restaurant with stellar food, my advice would just be to ask for prices on specials if any of them tickle your fancy so that you’re not unpleasantly surprised later.

It was pouring tonight, so we skipped date night in the city and headed to Nunzios down the street with a bottle of wine. The inside looks like a charming Italian villa (I studied abroad in Italy and it looks like the real thing!) The fresh foccacia with homemade pesto was a lovely touch to start off the meal!
There were too many specials to name, but we split the lobster bisque (real chunks of jumbo lump crab meat, OMG), I had the grilled shrimp meal and my boyfriend had the chicken parmigiana. He said it was easily the best one he’s had in the area, and the grilled shrimp had an amazing lemon olive oil white wine reduction sauce. It was an amazing meal, finished within an hour, leaving us to return to the sideways downpours for the rest of the night.

We arrived in Collingswood without making reservations. We only had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated. You are provided bread as a starter, which was fresh, crisp Italian and some sour dough. We tried the grilled scallops and lobster bisque crab special as appetizers. The soup was a little light on the seafood, but a tasty dipping for our bread. The scallops were fresh and balsamic drizzle was exquisite. For our main dish, we had the pollo florentine and rack of lamb special. The chicken was a little thin and dry. The spinach, mozzarella, and prosciutto brought the dish together. I never tried rack of lamb before but thought it was tasty.
The main thing we really loved about this place was the décor and painting on the walls. The ambiance of this place is incredible!

Now this street has several Italian restaurants, so it was hard to decide which one to goto. My coworker who has never been to Jersey and has been hearing me rave about the food was expecting a lot. I am so glad this place delivered with great food and perfect atmosphere. Italian spoken inside by customers and waiters, the feel of being on Italy with the décor, and the FOOD! Both of our entrees were awesome. You can’t go wrong with any food here is my bet! I want to go back here soooooon!
