R & C Dairy

A fun little jaunt out from the greater DFW area, R&C Dairy provides a fun way to see a working farm, as well as let the kids pick some strawberries. I would highly recommend calling before you go, as sometimes the strawberries are a bit picked through. We did pick up some very fresh goat’s milk cheese, which was delicious.

The fresh milks are great, and at $ 4 a half gallon, very reasonable. The boys loved picking strawberries and picking out fresh vegetables. The family running the farm were extremely friendly and helpful.
I agree that it is a bit of a drive, but in the spring and summer they have things to pick, so you get milk and an afternoon activity outside for the kids. (Provident living is an important lesson, and I’m not sure our little raised garden is enough of a lesson.)

How could you not give 5 stars to a place that your 3 year old niece picked strawberries at for the first time? Plus the people were so friendly and were getting close to closing, but told us to take as long as we wanted. That put a smile on this reviewers (and his niece’s) face.
Strawberries were what we came for and strawberries are what we got. In abundance. That along with a half-​gallon of fresh cows milk ($ 4) and what more could a little girl want out of life?
They came out to $ 3/​lb which seems a bit high for me, but I honestly don’t know what strawberries are going for in the store right now and how can you put a price on a little girls happiness? You can’t and I won’t. The strawberries were killer and so was that fresh cow’s milk.

I’ve been getting all of my milk from R&C Dairy for the past 6 months or so, and after experiencing what REAL milk tastes like, you couldn’t pay me to switch back.
This is one of the only Grade A «raw for retail» certified dairies in the state. They have both cow and goat’s milk, amazingly fresh eggs, butter, cream, kefir, and all kinds of other «farm fresh» goodness.
The farm is about a 45 minute drive from Denton, but it’s definitely worth the trip. I go every couple of weeks to stock up on the best milk and eggs I’ve ever tasted … anywhere.
