Bud’s Muffler

Jeffrey and the gang took good care of me. I was a little iffy with the ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ reviews here. They were responsive and kept me informed of everything along the way. Pricing was fair, and I never felt any upcharging pressure or any other gimmicks. If someone asked me for a muffler shop recommendation I would definitely point them to Bud’s.

OK, so we’re minding our own business, taking a trip from SF to Colorado with our ’99 Silverado truck and 23 foot trailer. Things are a bit loaded down and no good options to reduce our load. We stopped at a trailer place in Western Colorado and they said try airbags and a few other options. Long story, short, we ended up at Bud’s after some google searches and review reads. The folks at Bud’s took great care of us… Bud, Josh, John, et al, made sure we got fixed up. They re-​arched our truck’s springs and added a new leaf. Our brakes were giving us pulsing issues down large hills and with long contemplative discussion with my traveling partner and Bud’s team, we decided to replace the original rotors and pads. We needed a place to say and Bud let us spend the night in his parking lot. While working on it the next day Bud and his team were super friendly, professional and fun. We were treated like friends. We left better than when we arrived. I’d highly recommend this place! I felt we were very lucky to find them. I would *almost* drive from SF to Bud’s for my next work! You local folk should count yourselves lucky to have Bud’s nearby.

went to buds muffler today and got a quote on putting some exhaust tips on after the staff looked around for about 5 to 10 minutes finding the right tips for me I was quoted a price with labor the welder that put on the tips did a exceptional job when it came time to pay the 170 it went to 381 and change for no apparent reason I stood there the whole time while they did the job, total time elapsed 45 minutes they ended up charging me four times the amount for the exhaust tips when I confronted him about it all he said was OH the owner said what’s the problem the counter clerk explain to him what was going on and the owner was very nonchalant, he said okay what would you like us to do now. I would never ever go there again be very wary of this company when they quote you something out the door in regards to a price and it doubles by the time it’s time to pay in 45 minutes big giant problem they didn’t even seem to care at all. They ran my credit card I will be disputing the charges of course on the way out the welder explain to me that he was leaving very soon and that this company does this all the time I explained to him I wish I can give him a tip for the exceptional job he did but at this time I was just ripped off.

I love this place. They have ALWAYS taken care of me and I have trusted them for over 10 years. They do great work, are always personable, fairly priced, answer my questions, and are very patient with me. I world recommend them to any of my family and friends. Rarely do I write a review, but I’ve come to love this place and greatly appreciate the people that work there and wanted to give them praise. If you are looking for top notch, honest quality work at a reasonable price, this is the place to go. Thank you buds!

Went to Bud’s last week — had to stand at counter and wait for the owner to come out of the office — when he made it to the counter he really didn’t seem to care I was in his shop — didn’t seem like mufflers were his primary focus. He called a tech to «handle this guy». The tech was friendly and knowledgeable — he tried to get the owners attention to let him know what we decided but that was impossible as he was chatting with someone at the counter. Agreed with the tech to come back at 8:00AM to get the work done.
Next day a little before 8 I show up and I’m informed by the counter clerk they don’t do business that way and it’s first come first served starting at 7:30 and that I’m at least #2 and my job will be at least noon and most likely after lunch to complete. Not what I planned for. Huh? This is an 8 bay shop and they can’t do more than one at a time? I might have waited but the shop attitude left me doubtful of anything they were telling me. I stopped the job order and said my aloha. Counter clerk seemed unconcerned a job was walking out the door. I googled exhaust repair and ended up at Discount Exhaust Works. Job was finished by noon, a little bit better price and as they quoted, friendly folks, a lot better experience than Buds!

All of the experiences I have had with Bud’s have been good. In a world of people that inflate prices and offer poor customer service they have been great. I constantly look for a good deal but also look in the value in what I’m paying for and they seem to give me the best bang for my buck. It seems to me that an auto shop that points out safety issues and preventable failures is looking to save me money in the long run. Bud’s has value.

I do not suggest going to Bud’s Muffler.
I was a frequent customer for a few years, coming in for regular oil changes every 3 months. They always seemed to find something else that made a simple oil change cost me a couple hundred dollars. However, I thought they were honest mechanics and since my car was older, I thought it was better to be safe than sorry.
As time went on their work seemed to go down in quality. At one point my mother took her car in for an oil change and THEY NEGLECTED TO PUT OIL IN THE CAR. When I ended up selling my car to a mechanic and giving him all of the records I had kept, he told me I had been over charged for multiple jobs and many probably weren’t necessary.
I ended up taking my new car in for an inspection where they told me I needed a new water pump which would cost a little over $ 560 to replace. Before giving me this estimate, the owner had the audacity to say «it isn’t that bad, well, it wouldn’t be that bad for ME, but I don’t know about YOU!» I’m sorry but $ 560 IS a lot of money to most people and as an owner there shouldn’t be any kind of assumptions about the cliental.
I ended up getting a second opinion. I didn’t need a water pump. In fact it looked like it had already been replaced before I bought the car and it was not leaking in the areas that would indicate that it needed to be replaced.
Given I have been and am on a limited income as a student, when I think about how much money I gave Bud’s, it makes me angry. Especially because I don’t know how many times I was subjected to personal comments such as, «If you were my daughter I would get this replaced.» As a woman who doesn’t have a father to pay for all of her expenses, I found it offensive. And I know from waiting multiple times for HOURS while they did a «simple» repair, I’m not the only single female who was subjected to these personal comments that were condescending. These men aren’t vicious, but they definitely don’t have a filter.
Save your money and go some place else.
