I wish there was some legal action I could take. This school is a rip off. I did what I was supposed to do. I applied for FASFA for 2015 and 2016. I was approved for both years for a total of 20,000 in Pell grants and Stanford loans. I signed the paperwork needed for the school to accept these funds. I had them notarized, I mailed them to the financial department and waited. A few weeks later they called me and said that they never got the paperwork. OK. So, I repeated the above process and started my classes thinking all is well. Nope. Halfway through the first set of classes they contacted me again telling me that they had not received my paperwork. So now a third time, I print out the papers needed. I fill them out, I take them to a notary, I sign the, I mail them in. While all of this is going on, I am also working full time, now going to school full time, raising 3 children, and grieving for the lose of a 4 child. After the first round of classes. I couldn’t take the stress of all of it, so I unenrolled. At this point there was no mention that they had still not processed my papers for my financial aid, so I thought all was well. Fast forward to seven months layer. I get a call stating that I owe them almost $ 5,000. They advised me that they never got my paperwork for the release of funds so now I was responsible for paying. I told them that I did my job and was sorry they didn’t do theirs. I still have all those funds available in my FASFA waiting for them to collect it and they refuse to do so. Now, a year later, I have started to get calls on a daily basis asking if I would like to re enroll. Heck no! Are you crazy? I told the re enrollment specialist, who also was a student of CTU, what had happened and that the lady from the finance department told me that I must not have done the paperwork. The gentalman from the re enrollment department told me that it is odd because that almost never happens anymore. ANYMORE! This other lady is blaming me and the gentleman says yes it does happen. Screw this school. I hope there is a class action lawsuit against them and I will be right there with everyone else. I have read all of the reviews from the US Veterans that have been ripped off for their GI bills too. I hope like hell that this school is shut down and all the debt is forgiven because of their business practices.
On top of that, the teachers don’t care about you. I also got emails all the time intended for other students.

The only good thing about this school is it builds character – for about $ 30K. I wouldn’t care about the cost for quality, but this school preys on people who are struggling in life and takes advantage of financial problems. Beware of a school rep telling you that a student can postpone their undergrad loans and stipend will help them survive!
If a person like me is in financial jeopardy, filed bankruptcy, and had no job for months on end, most likely that type of person should never accrue more debt! Emotionally, that person is depleted.
I am 56 years old and have been treated for more than 15 years for anxiety, high blood pressure, and depression. This school made things worse! Even with a doctors written diagnosis, these people still wanted me (my money)!
I turned in work that looks like an idiot wrote it; however, I still managed to pull As and Bs! If that kind of work was done in almost any other school, the most I would gotten would have been a C. But Cs don’t keep you in school.
After getting somewhat stable, with only temp work, their Collections people told me I owed over $ 3K for the stipend in June and the one class I never took. When I took the stipend, I had gotten a job over 120 miles from home and had to get an apartment. Thanks to the stress of the long and boring assignments, I failed at that job, got sick and had to come home.
These professors they hire are doubtful at best. Usually, FBI and other CJS people enjoy sharing examples of their job experiences – not in their classes. All these professors give are cookie cutter lesson plans given by the school. I know this because I had to restart a class with a different instructor, and by George, it was the exact same assignments.
The «live chats» are a joke. They don’t really give anything substantial that you couldn’t get from the media. I took 6 classes, and every format was exactly the same and not one group assignment.
Look, some of you might think I’m old and should have known better. I agree, but when your meds get jacked up, you tell the school the truth, some sense of decency should hit at least one person in that corporate institution! If this spares just 1 person from doing this, then any backlash I get from one of their groupies will be worth it.

They pushed me through and put me in a college 101 course…
I already had my associates in Computer Science /​IT and was looking to get my bachelors.
They gave me no options for courses, told me to take this one course because it would help me get degree faster. 2 weeks in I after doing ridiculous tedious homework that was literally all based around learning how to… do school work efficiently (which I didn’t need, I already have a degree and certifications.)
I requested withdrawal after 3 weeks, annoyed that I even wasted a second on this.
600.00 in change later and 2 MILLION re-​entry phone calls and emails, these people NEVER stop calling me. They call me once or twice a day for the past year!
They’re fucking worse than bill collectors! Go to a non-​profit! Stay far away!

I wish that I had read the reviews before I was talked into enrolling here. They are accredited by the higher learning commission, so I thought this would be a legitimate school.
I was wrong. I was registered for class, that I had already taken, which I had no interest in taking again. The adviser that I assigned told me that there was flexibility in changing classes later in the semester. She urged me to just sign into the class and make a post. That way, I could start school this semester and complete my educational goal of a Bachelor’s degree sooner.
Turns out when you log in, they say you are in the class. I’m being billed $ 4,200 because I logged in twice for 5 minutes each time.
These people are prey on working adults, especially former military (like me), that are trying to find a place to help get ahead in life.
Shame on you CTU.

Having begun consideration of returning to school to earn a more career-​relevant degree in 2012, I evaluated three schools and landed on CTU, partly because I spoke with two CTU employees who are also friends, but more because their learning approach appealed to me more than the others. In 2013, I enrolled in CTU on a one-​course per session pace. This allows me to maintain my full-​time job, live my personal life, and give my course work the attention it deserves. Nearly three years later, I have maintained a 4.0 GPA and have truly enjoyed the courses I’ve taken. In nearly every course, I’ve been able to draw on my professional experience and current events in the news to include in my course work. I will graduate with a dual focus in management and marketing, having transferred in courses from my original degree in hotel management earned decades earlier and having shortened my path (and cost) by successfully completing a half dozen or so Fast Track exams. Now, CTU has an amazing student app that enables me to do my course work on all of my mobile devices, listen to live and archived instructor lectures on the go, and never miss an assignment due date. True, I am accruing a student loan debt through federal financial aid, but I’m currently not paying a dime out of pocket and will face payback after graduation when I’ll be earning more. Maybe by then I’ll have decided to pursue my doctorate and continue for a few more years.

I was contacted because I inquired about a program online, had a chat with an «admissions counselor» and then instantly they made me feel terrible. I told them I was interested in starting classes in a few months and the response was «well honestly you are not making any sense, why would you need to wait that long.» like its any of their business in what I need to do. The lady on the phone was super rude after I explained my work schedule and the need to consult with my parents. «you have more than a month, how much longer could you possibly need?» she bawked… I have been contacted now 5 times within the hour, every time by a persistent saleman trying to scam me into enrolling this month.

If I could give this school zero stars I would. This school is a complete scam. Not only do they lie to you and pressure you into enrolling, but they are scammers too. After the first 50 times they called me and I complained I was not interested and that I wanted to wait, I was finally enrolled. I was told that if I did not choose the fast track, financial aid would cover everything, and that I wouldn’t have to pay a dime. Right?
NO.
What they failed to inform me was that, they would give me several useless classes that I wouldn’t need and that I would be paying out of pocket for them. Another thing the school lied to me about was that financial aid would cover everything? They enrolled me as a freshman which would mean expenses would come out of pocket. Why didn’t they tell me this before enrolling when I asked?!
Next thing, every semester the tuition goes up $ 1,000. Seriously, why didn’t they tell me this when I ask? Instead they lied and claimed that I wouldn’t have to pay anything. So they charged me tuition fees three times before they decided to tell me that they’ve been charging me after I was just about to graduate. By then the bill was a little over a thousand. By the end of that month they added on an additional $ 6,000 for no reason at all. All this school cares about is their money.
I could not gain a job with this bogus degree and I can’t pay them because I wasted all my time at this school and learned absolutely nothing!!!
Thinking the worse part was over, I enrolled into an on campus school to move on, can’t do that.
Why?
Because Colorado Tech is now holding my transcripts hostage until they get their money. Best part was, they made me pay for the nonrefundable transcripts when they knew I wasn’t going to receive it. This school is very deceiving, and is a scam. I don’t understand how this school is still in business.
I had read somewhere that a former employee at this school was told that their pay was based on how many enrollments they made in a month, and that they did not put anyone on their «Do not call list». Most importantly, she mentioned that during her student interviews she was instant messaged by her supervisor ordering her to say things that were not truthful and made her uncomfortable.
This school is a scam and a joke. Enrolling was the worst mistake I have ever made, and now I’m trapped in this school and forever in debt to them. They had no problem collecting my money from financial aid either.
I still don’t understand that if financial aid covered over $ 16,000 what am I paying for?!
Would not recommend this sham of a school to anyone and will be contacting my lawyer.

Contacted them for some questions and so gave my information. Well, since then I’m receiving emails. very persistant people and annoying in the same time. I didn’t get a good feeling about them.

I utilize the information, knowledge and skills that I learned at CTU on a daily basis. The reports and presentations that I create as well as the training that I give all benefit from my experiences at CTU. When dealing with education, you only get out of it what you put into it and hard work pays off. I had worked very hard and received a great education that benefits me still today. I received my Bachelor and two Masters Degrees from CTU Online and it was not easy but so well worth it in the end.

I wish there was an option for negative stars. Don’t waste your time. NOT ACCREDITED!!! I repeat, NOT ACCREDITED. Some of the «professors» are not even in America. This school is a joke. A for profit university. Also… Trying to get out of the school is even harder they keep handing you off from adviser to adviser, while in the mean time charging you for more classes. Why are these people still aloud to operate?! I know that I have hired a lawyer and am pursuing legal action against them and am submitting everything to the state of Colorado.

This place is horrible. Teachers never answer emails, mix you up with other students, I even had a teacher do all of the lectures alone and not have students attend so the students could have more time to do the assignments. What kind of BS is that. Financial Aid department is very shady, never gave me three stipend payments I should have gotten. I applied to Arizona State University and got accepted, I would recommend going to this PAC12 school which has online degrees.

I am working on my second Masters degree at CTU and I am very pleased with the experience. The coursework is very structured so it is easy to budget your time to get assignments completed, the instructors have mostly been very responsive and helpful, and the online delivery software is really good. The courses are well laid out and very informative, and I really cannot understand the negative reviews. My Bachelors and Masters were from a large Big Ten school, and I feel that I am getting at least as good an education online through CTU as I did with my old school’s online courses, with half of the headaches and homework «surprises».
I like that you know exactly what needs to be done each week, everything is posted so you can work ahead if you want to, and everything is always due on the same day. Professors and Advisors are pretty responsive, usually answering emails within 12 –24 hours. The website is pretty well laid out with a lot of extra features, such as the social space, the library webspace, and others.
As with ANY online education, you are going to get out of it what you put into it, and be prepared to work hard. They are a FOR PROFIT university, but that doesn’t mean you do not get a good education there. They are also an accredited university, accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), a nationally recognized accreditation body.

I have spent quite a long time at CTU. I came to the school with a AAS all of my credits transferred. Completed my Bachelors and am currently working on my Masters. Is it a good school, I would say yes! But you need to work at it, you need to read and study on your own. The live chats are key, attending them and being able to ask questions is a must. For all the people who carry on about the schools accreditation, Colorado Technical University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission check for your self
I work for Lockheed Martin and their training department recommends the school and will pay tuition assistance toward a degree. And yes CTU is a For Profit University, their owned by Career Education Corporation; you can buy stock in the company, why do people feel this is wrong? Non-​profit schools do make a profit, it’s just reinvested in the school, rather than shareholders… it’s just business. And last, yes the school is expensive, if you can’t afford it, don’t sign up! Just because you finish with a degree and 30K in debt doesn’t mean you’re going to get this great six figure job. For me, it’s worth it, my job is paying school, it fits my schedule, it has furthered my career and life is good.

This school is the reason so many people are defaulting on their government loans. First and foremost, there is no real challenge in getting accepted into any program. All you need is a high school diploma and of course money. The level of education provided is actually easier than my high school classes. I submitted my assignments without ever opening a book or attending the live chat sessions. I received nothing less than a B as a grade.
They really want nothing more than your money. Take a look and see how much of it they want, it is appalling once you see the level of education you are paying for. My wife really wanted me to get a degree but this is a farce. Not one employer is going to take your degree seriously. The only serious thing about this school is the massive amount of debt you will be facing once you graduate and are still employed in the same job you are currently working.
I could have faked my way into a degree and never opened a book. The price tag is too high both ethically and financially for me to continue in this masquerade. Do yourself a favor and enroll in a real school and do real work. It may actually pay off. I have no doubt the degree I would have earned from CTU would be worth as much as a self made home printed version. Only difference being the extremely high cost of the loan.
Please stay away.
Adding more as it gets worse after time. I called and spoke with the financial offices just before I withdrew. I asked about my financial situation and standing with the school. I notified them of my withdrawal status and wanted to know the details regarding my payments. I was told by several people in the financial aide department that I would be up tp date and current with my payments. I would not need to pay CTU any money.
I just received a bill for several hundred dollars, that I cannot and will not pay. They are going to sue me and I feel it is a full on scam. How can I go from being paid up to date, current, and «not owe CTU any more tuition» to such a large bill?
Again, CTU is not a real school. Your education is mediocre at best. The financial aide office is a comedy den run by court jesters who know nothing about their actual job or more importantly your financial status with them. It is a shame that «schools» like this can operate. The federal government has no business being in bed with corporate educational systems such as CTU.

There’s no way for me to just comment here, but this is a «warning you probably shouldn’t do this.» I haven’t taken classes with them, but my husband was thinking about it seriously. He filled out some info on their website. Every single day for the past week they’ve called. I’ve even told them to stop calling (so has he), they haven’t and appear to not care that we’ve asked them to stop. This pulled up a HUGE red flag about their legitimacy since I’ve never seen an educational institution pull this stuff before. I refuse to give spammers money, so take this as a warning.

Had a bad experience today with CTU. My bosses at my job want me to get my AS degree, so I started shopping around from a list of colleges recommended by my company. One of my coworkers went to CTU and spoke highly of them, so made me very interested. Yesterday I did the online chat and was being helped by an advisor «Jason». He was helpful answering questions I had, but at the same time felt like I was being pressured, almost like I was going to be buying a college degree from a car dealership pressure. I mentioned to him I was «Just shopping around». So Jason emailed me some papers to e-​sign, which I thought was to just apply for the college. He mentioned he would call me today. Well due to my busy schedule I emailed him and tried calling him to tell him I wouldn’t be able to talk to him and if what he had to say if I could just read up on there website. He still called me and was polite at first until I told him I didn’t have time to talk and if I could just read information online because I’m sure he would just keep pressuring me to attend CTU and blah blah sales pitch. He started getting rude with me and stated «well your attending our school now starting April 7^th you need to go over important information!», I told him I didn’t sign up for nothing, I simply just applied to attend not actually sign paperwork to start attending, and I told him once again I was still just looking around at schools and doing my research. I said to cancel my paperwork and from there he went from rude to douche bag and hung up on me. If that’s how they handle what could of been a potential student, I’d hate to start attending and paying for school and getting the same rude treatment. I truly believe first impressions make lasting impressions, and this guy gave CTU a bad impression, if you enjoy wasting your time at car dealerships hearing a salesmen talk your ear off and then an aggressive attitude, then CTU is your school!

Okay, I have to be honest. As far as online Education is concerned, make sure the school is NonProfit. Non is the operative word. CTU Online (like so many other online higher education cooperatives) is a for profit school, so expect none other than arbitrary recruitment practices. My CTU online recruiter promised to call me every Monday to see how I was progressing– lie. But I was so excited, I ignored all of the red flags. The quality of education isn’t reflected in the costs per credit hour (which happen to be ridiculous and they charge extra for textbooks). The Teachers hmmm… some good, some bad, and others (insert expletive) Just like any other school, I guess… but one of the most alarming highlights of my online degree process was, my grammatical superiority to some of my instructors.
I believe most of the skepticism in receiving an online education, is whether or not the education is legit. Yes, it is legit however when a school is for profit, proficiency cannot be determined. You see, what is the likeliness of a for profit installation denying admittance? Slim to none, right? Numbers do not lie, the intake is High, but the graduation rate is piss poor, because the dullard can’t graduate.
Notwithstanding these facts, I did find portions of my online undergraduate program more thought provoking than my experience at a traditional community college, and you cannot beat the convenience. This would explain the three stars. It’s just okay, it’s not terrible but could be better.
