I had a great experience at Paul Mitchell in Colorado Springs! The products are great, the students are great, and it’s super affordable! You get the feeling of going to a real and expensive salon at a quarter of the price with the same good quality. Thanks a lot Paul Mitchell!

Terrible customer experience. I had a haircut appointment on a Monday night. Drove downtown to stand around for 15 minutes waiting only to be told my stylist didn’t show up so they have to cancel. Very professional. You’ll go far, kid! They gave me a voucher for a free cut, so I rescheduled for Saturday. I had a feeling I should call and confirm. Thank god I did because I was told my stylist broke her leg. Really?! No one bothered to call and let me know on either occasion! They offered to reschedule for the following weekend. No way. They said they have no one else but would reschedule me with a barber that day, same time. I went ahead and agreed, but the more I thought about it, I was done! I went to Cost Cutters instead. I’ve worked in customer service for years-​this is some of the worst I’ve experienced. This is not difficult. Communicate with your clients! Courtesy? What a concept. Anyone want a voucher for a free cut?

Overall, the stylists-​in-​training do a sufficient job and it’s a good value for a basic haircut. The facility is updated, clean, and the environment is happy. Just be prepared to spend most of your morning/​afternoon here. Each time I’ve been here I’ve waited 40+ mins to see a stylist. No real explanation for their extended wait times, just that they’re running behind (even when you’re the first appointment of the afternoon). I showed up on time to be respectful of their time… it would be nice if they also respected their customers’ time. This was after they called 30 mins before my scheduled morning appointment to say they needed reschedule for the afternoon. The morning appointment had been confirmed by text and phone call the day before. I rearranged my day to accommodate them despite confirming the appointment the day before and as a thanks, I was treated to an unacceptable wait time. I’m thinking the value is not worth the wait.

Im disappointed in the staff they dont care about you i was having a hard time and oqua and the fincial aide didnt care only about the money and the students have their own bond and i didnt fit in my student was rude to me and nothing was done. The education is great you learn alot its fun.

The worst and cheapest place that I have ever been. The customers are treated like retards and are victims. The teachers are unprofessional. They do not know anything about color or hair care.
Money is the game

Not bad on the actual services but customer service is really bad. Phones not answered and calls not returned.

Decent quality for cuts and color, but obviously it’s the savings that bring most people in the door. That or you know one of the students. But come prepared to at least triple the amount of time you would expect it to take at a regular salon. I had full highlights done and it took 6.5 hours, without a cut. Being that it was also a third of the cost, I guess you get what you pay for.

I work here so I’m biased, but this is SUCH a positive environment!

I have come here for hair cut, color & up do and have always had great results. The students are very professional and ask a lot of clarifying questions as well as give advise to ensure you get what you want.
They are very knowledgable in the products and teach you as they go; always communicating with you from wash to style.
The price is great too!

I’ve been here several times and this is my last. I’m so upset and offended and my hair is not at all what I asked for. I feel like I could have done better myself.
I ask for the same color on my roots pulled down thru my hair a little because I wanted it ombré with a bright color in the bottom. My hair was already pre lightened with a faded green in the lightened area and about 3 inches of regrowth of my own natural hair color. The stylist convinced me that she wanted to do the entire head to complete my ombré instead of just the roots.
She didn’t even color the roots what I wanted. I left with an entire head of dark red violet hair.
When I explained that it isn’t at all what I asked for, the teacher told me it was my fault that I didn’t understand. If you want something right, do it yourself because you’re better off than going here.

The school is very disorganized. Appointments are not kept by the person that is supposed to do the appointment. No matter how many times you come in for a color they do not keep records of what color you use in order not to have to repeat yourself on the next appointment. A new management team needs to be put in place.

Kelsey is awesome! Very knowledgeable and does an awesome job. Her work has been great since day one and keeps improving. I had a million questions on hair products and she was able to answer them all. The salon atmosphere was great and the staff was all very friendly. Definitely will come back :)

I had an appointment SCHEDULED to get my hair done here. I walked in and was told that my stylist just didn’t feel like coming into work today. Apparently they can skip out when they want to. I was asked if I wanted to make another appointment, so I asked if my stylist would for sure come in to do my hair. They couldn’t give me 100% certainty that the stylist would be there. So first of all, you don’t call to cancel my appointment ahead of time (the receptionist said they don’t know if the stylist will be there until a client comes in… What?) and then you can’t guarantee that it won’t happen again? Obviously I’m pissed off that I had a terrible experience with this unprofessional establishment, but what sucks even more is that I had to pay for my 3 kids to go into daycare for what? For nothing. This is just ridiculous. I almost wanted to make another appointment but I can’t keep wasting money on daycare, because neither me or the receptionist know if the stylist will show up! Oh wait, we will, when I show up and then we find out together.

I was a little nervous about going to a school to get my hair done, but all that apprehension has been put to rest! The girl who did my hair graduates in 2 months, and she did an AMAZING job!!! I went in for a cut and color (got the new ombré look). I brought her a picture, and she did it EXACTLY how I wanted it. $ 8 for a trim, $ 35 for the color, and $ 10 for a conditioning treatment. For all that, only $ 53!!! You can’t even get your hair colored for that little somewhere else! I LOVE my hair, it’s such a confidence boost!!! I would absolutely recommend going here! Oh, like everyone else has said, it does take a bit of time, as these girls are learning. I was there from 1:30 until 5. But, the teachers are always walking around checking on everyone, and they make sure you are all on the same page before getting started. And if you want to tip, bring cash! You can’t add it on a credit card… Great service and everyone was super friendly! A+ from me.

If there is anything you can bring before arriving, it’s PATIENCE and knowing exactly what you want, and knowing how your hair responds to color. They are students and learning, so I wouldn’t recommend going if you’re on a time crunch. I went in for a color/​highlight package that I purchased from Groupon. Here was my overall impression:
Ambiance: Outside just looks like any old building, but the interior is really nice. You’re greeted immediately as you walk in, there are about 3 or 4 rows of stylists working on clients, and a glass waterfall feature with some TVs vertically along the wall. I thought the staff was really easy to get along with.
Cut: I had medium-​length hair and asked to go shorter, with an A-​line. The stylist did go slowly, being careful not to cut off too much too soon. I didn’t get the exact effect that I wanted, but it is a good cut, and the instructor did clean it up a little.
Highlights: The coloring was very good and exactly what I asked for (which was a golden blonde, with warm tones). My only issue was that the school instructs their students to stop at a certain point before hitting the scalp, so it definitely looks like I have re-​growth. Not exactly professional for my job… we’ll see if I can ride it out for a couple of days before getting it corrected elsewhere!
Cost: Reasonable, considering a good cut and color, but the roots will have to be fixed :(It would’ve been $ 43 without my Groupon
Time: 3.5 hours total. Like I said, TIME and PATIENCE!

I purchased 4 groupons, what a great deal I THOUGHT, 20.00 for full highlights and a cut. My first appointment was not so good, I pretty much had to tell the lady what to do, the instructors just approved it and gave her developer instructions. I was unpleasently surprised that what instructions I gave for my hair were not followed and I was way darker than I had asked for. They are not so good at listening, but I thought it was her first job doing this so I’ll just go back and get it lightened up a bit and I’m sure she is more experienced a month later for my second appointment. Well I was so wrong, here I am sitting with bleachy hair and less than 2 weeks later it looks like I have about 1″ of new growth which is not cute when the new growth looks like black against white! I would not recommend this school to anyone and have made ANOTHER appointment for The Salon Professionals school which does an amazing job! lesson learned, maybe they’ll let me use the other 2 groupons for a good conditioning appointment because they will not be allowed to put any kind of color on my hair again!
Haircut:
they did an ok job on my haircut so I wont submit a complaint about that.

I was at first a bit apprehensive about going to a school to get my hair cut, but I figured it’s just hair and it always grows back. Luckily, I was greatly surprised by the location and service.
The school is a busy salon that has great hours for any schedule. I opted to get a phase II stylist because from what I read from other Unilocalers from other cities is that it takes less time. Expect when you go there for this to be a process. These are students so that are practicing what they’ve learned in training.
My stylist first sat me down and we discussed what I wanted to do with my hair. She asked a lot of questions to make sure we were on the same page and wrote everything down. Then she went to her floor instructor to discuss what would be the best cutting method to use. After everyone agreed, I was taken to the sink for a nice head massage and wash.
As the stylist cut my hair, she constantly asked questions and made sure I was happy with every step. The stylist was very friendly and was a pleasure to sit for. She was professional yet personable at the same time.
In the end, I was at the salon for an hour and 45 minutes, but it only cost me $ 13 for a cut and style. So who can really complain. I plan on coming back because it was a great deal and I loved the customer service. Everyone on the floor was friendly and asked me how I was doing. Even the Floor Instructor was attentive and was close by watching the stylist work.
Here is a quick tip which I wish I knew if you plan to go. The stylists do receive tips, but you cant tack it onto the final bill at the end of the service it youre paying by credit card. It has to be check or cash only. I want to tip my girl so I’m going back with money in an envelop to do so.
