Pikes Peak Mountain Bike Tours

Highly recommend this bicycle tour company. I particularly recommend the Cog Railway trip up the mountain and then the mountain biking tour down the mountain. This gives two unique views and experiences. This is a great experience for teens to older. Don’t underestimate the effects on the altitude on your temperature and exertion. The guides were GREAT. Very nice bikes and equipment.

Good customer service, lots of great advice from our driver/​bike loader/​guide. We did the Gold mine trail on a perfect summer day, beautiful vistas, decently wide, 3 tunnels, 1 creek crossing. Had some loose sand pits, but «keep pedaling» for balance and use brake simultaneously. I’m a weekend bike rider not a triathlete but I saw some young-​uns breaking a sweat
Paid when we booked the night before our ride. When we got to the shop, I checked in on Unilocal and won a discount coupon (yay!). But the shop refused to honor it, so they lost a 5-​star from me.

This was an awesome experience even though the weather did not cooperate. We got caught in a down pour about half way into the ride.
This is a 20-​mile downhill bike ride with some challenging areas. Initially it looks a little daunting but if you listen to the guides you should be fine.
First of all the staff is great. Friendly and professional. Our guides were the brothers Spencer and Peter. They were awesome dudes. They explain everything in a friendly way. They watch out for you at all times and do things like check your breaks, fill your water bottles and making sure you’re feeling safe and having a good time.
The bikes are Kona mountain bikes with disc breaks, which are very important for the steep declines. They’re in good shape and are 24 speed.
They provide a small breakfast, water and complimentary water bottle and lunch at a great Greek restaurant is also provided. They even have vegan options. They order your lunch on the way back to town so it’s just about ready when you walk into the restaurant.
The ride isn’t that technical and they’re only a few hills that aren’t too difficult. You do ride your breaks nearly the whole way down. I had complete confidence with those disc brakes even in the wet environment.
We took the optional cog rail on the way up. Worth it! The guides tell you how to prep, where to meet and what to wear.
Bring warm clothing and rain gear even in the summer. It is about 20 – 30 deg colder on the summit. We went in August and are from Alaska and it was cold even to us. Wear layers and bring rain gear. Don’t worry about carrying your extra gear. They can transport it for you in the follow van. Yes, there are bathroom breaks too! There are even porta potties along the road if necessary.
Overall this was a great experience and highly recommended. The guides want you to have a good time but they put your safety as their number one priority.
Oh yeah, tip your guides if you feel they did a great job. They deserve it.

We had a great time. Scott was really great at giving us tips and making us feel at ease. Very very! memorable mountain bike ride down a literal mountain. Not what I was expecting. Great way to really live life! Gold camp is the way to go if you want off road adventure on your time! Great views !

I am giving this place 5 stars, because I think they were friendly, helpful and provided an experience exactly as described on their website. My personal opinion is that the ride down the mountain was extremely scary. I naively assumed that the downhill ride would be fast, but manageable. I was more concerned that I was going to have a hard time with the altitude, and cold weather. As someone who rides a bike often, I did not imagine I would have a problem with the ride. The first portion of the ride is extremely steep with a lot of tight turns. As you approach the cliff edges, you have to also watch out for cars coming around the corners, which can’t be seen until the last second. I wanted to give up at one point and ride the rest of the way down in the van, but our guide let me know that the sharp turns, and steep hill portion of the ride was past us. I decided to stick it out. The second portion of the ride was still a little scary for me, but not nearly as bad as the first part. The group made several stops on the way down the mountain to take pictures and let traffic pass. The sights at these stops were beautiful. In the end, I am happy to say I did it, but if you are a person who isn’t used to riding a bike at 25 – 30 mph, and is uneasy with making very sharp turns, then I would not recommend the trip.

The tour starts at the Summit of Pike’s Peak and the fun doesn’t stop from there on out!
Breakfast and lunch were provided, which was a plus, and the guides were very instructional on how to safely ride, the sights, and were very caring as to the safety and experience of every rider.
Dress warm for the cold air 14,110 ft above, but if you don’t, they provide you with a few layers which comes in handy.
I recommend you come and see Josh and the crew for a good time. Lots of laughs and they make you feel at home!

I went with a group that included some inexperienced bikers– the tour and guides who led us were all great! I would definitely recommend. They put safety as a priority which allowed us to have fun despite some scary cliffs and views! The views the entire ride are breathtaking and taking them in via bike is exhilarating. This far it has been my favorite part of vacation. Great company, great service, WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE.

The Gold Camp Route is the one to do! If you can ride a bike you can handle this ride. Our family of four had a blast. the tunnels/​cave were an amazing part. The guys were great and very informative. This is not a tourist trap place and a great value. If you are in Colorado Springs this is a must do.

There are bike tours, and then there is PPMBT. We used them in conjunction with the cog ride up and they could not have been more helpful in arranging all the logistics of 4 people riding the train up and two taking the bike ride down.
Our guides, while being extremely safety conscious because of high wind, managed to show and explain many points of interest on stops along the way.
There were some surprisingly uphillgrinds, but proper warning by the guides, and some good tips on best practices made it at least possible by us flatlanders from Illinois who were a little starved for air.
We highly recomend this trip.

An awesome experience and lots of fun! Brian and the guys took great care of us and were excellent guides. We were a big group and they coordinated all with ease. Bikes were new and worked great. I would highly recommend and would definitely go back to do again. A blast!

We toured with Brian & Spencer. They were the best ever! I will recommend this company to everyone I come across. You should definitely get a t-​shirt as a souvenir– they are very reasonably priced and SO comfy!!!

One thing to know — there are 2 up hill sections, they are short but there is no shame in walking ur bike or jumping on the van. But the downhills are worth it!

Fabulous adventure! This was our 4^th time to do this and it never gets old. The business and employees have great personalities, super helpful and friendly. They give you everything you need to be successful AND safe – even share short bike safety tips before you head down. Besides our personal hikes, this is always the highlight of our Co.Spr. visit!

FUN FUN FUN!!! so worth every minute i was scared to death that i was going over the side or my 8 year old was… Seriously, what a way to see pikes peak. ride the cog up, grab some doughnuts, jump on your bike and GO! Our entire staff was beyond awesome, craig, peter, kurtis… and i am missing one but they were great! had so much fun, my 12 year old had the gopro camera on his helmet… awesome! yes, i was nervous the whole way down but it is so worth every minute… beautiful, exhilarating and a trip of a lifetime! GO GO GO!!! SO WORTH EVERY MINUTE!
Then after the ride, we were taken to a great greek restaurant, Jake and Telly’s, excellent food and great service… our guides joined up with us and we reviewed the trip and the fun we had…
From start to finish, this is the group to go with… first class all the way! Thanks guys for the #1 funnest thing we did in two weeks in Colorada!!!

I was very nervous about this ride, but the guides take great care to fit your bike to you, teach you how to use it, and keep you safe throughout the trip while still providing and exhilarating ride. Craig, Kurtis, and Peter were excellent!

Highly recommended! This is a perfect way to enjoy Pikes Peak with plenty of stops along the way to take in the scenery.
My (overweight) mom decided this is what she wanted to do for her 60^th birthday but my brother and dad told her she was crazy and wouldn’t go. So I told her if she bought a bike and trained, I would fly out to do it with her (half-​hoping she would change her mind).
But she didn’t.
When we got to the top of the mountain, I was thinking, «This is a bad idea — I haven’t biked for years» as I looked down at the daunting switchbacks. But I hopped on the bike and I have to say this was one of the best experiences of my life.
It’s exhilarating flying down the mountain like that, and the views are unbeatable!
Our group had van trouble, and the guides were all very considerate in making us as comfortable as possible during the delay. The owner offered us free t-​shirts for the trouble and we still had a blast. We were there the day the fire started so we hit some traffic leaving the park as I think everyone was being evacuated. Even with these small glitches, we had a great time.
If you get altitude sickness, tired, or whatnot, they will let you ride in the van as needed. That’s a great option for those that are not as physically fit or from California (like yours truly). But hey, my 60 year old mom biked the whole way!
I recommend PLENTY of hydration, some gatorade or electrolyte gummy blocks for anyone out of town not used to the elevation. One guy in our group got very sick but we gave him some of the blocks and he was able to bike the rest of the way shortly afterwards.
Also make sure to be comfortable on your bike before loading up. You need to brake with BOTH hands. We heard about a biker in another group that did not, and went face first over their bike onto the pavement. This being said, the guides clearly had our safety as a number one priority and watched out for everyone along the way. One guide even traversed the steep side of the mountain to save my glove that blew away in the wind!

My wife and I had an amazing time with Dylan’s team. Who knew it’d be so fun to ride a bike down Pikes Peak?
I wondered how difficult it’d be to do the uphill sections at the high altitude. Turns out, it’s not too bad. There were about three uphill sections, and while they were definitely more difficult than riding down, they weren’t bad at all.
The guides had an incredible knowledge of the history of the peak and knew exactly how much to share.
Cars weren’t a problem on the road as we were doing the speed limit almost the entire time.
Our group frequently stopped for pictures and breaks and I never got tired of being on the bike. Can’t wait to do it again!
It’d be a great trip for kids Aged 8+.
