Hi, my name is Tony and my wife and I purchased the franchise in April of 2013. We moved from Toledo, Ohio to start our new adventure. I have 20 plus years experience as a ASE technician at different dealers in Ohio. I also worked for Cottman Corporate as a TakeOver Specialist where I took over distressed centers all over the US and got them back to operating status so they could be sold to another franchise owner. I did this for four years. I am currently the rebuilder and help out wherever else I’m needed. We have one Total Auto Care technician, one R&R technician and Adam who is our Manager. My wife does all the bookkeeping, outside sales and networking. We have a great team of honest and harding working people. we look forward to serving you.

Very professional and friendly. I’m a hot rod fan, and do most of my work myself, but I didn’t feel like doing a repair in my car so I checked with cottman. I needed a throttle valve cable replaced on my 700r4 in my 1986 Corvette. Tony definitely knew what he was talking about and I trusted him with working on it. Liz was very helpful and friendly, and Sadie (friendly dog) kept me company while I waited.
Normally I don’t trust chain automotive places, but I would recommend them. While I was waiting on my repair, I could overhear Liz and Tony talking to potential customers on the phone, and they were transparent and fair with everyone. Tony knows a lot about performance upgrades as well as oem specs. The price was fair as well, without the «corvette tax». I recommend them.

Before I rant, just letting y’all know that I’m no car expert and I don’t live in Lexington. I brought my car in with a transmission problem. They took it for a spin and said my tranny needed to be rebuilt, which I also thought too after
doing some research online.
When I come to a stop, my tranny dropped hard. I could feel it. it was not smooth. It would jerk to kick in gears and all. I have a 2002 Accord. and from what I read online, it is unfortunately a common problem for these cars.
One guy took me to the back and showed me all the steps they have to do to rebuild a transmission… yadda yadda yadda machenics jargons blah blah blah…
Since there were no reviews of this place on Unilocal,I just took it for what it is.
I agreed and dropped my car off. Five days later I picked it up and charged $ 2500 on my card. I drove it for about a week and started feeling that dropped gear again. this time when the car comes to a stop… it’s like shifting to a lower gear too early for the speed of the car so there’s this abupt drop in speed… it’s annoying and getting worse.
What’s worse was that I was already 3000 miles away from this location! I was moving to a different state, and where I was going doesn’t have a cottman transmission shop [fml]. I won’t spend more than the car’s value to fix it again.
The point is… do more research. Look up reviews. Finally, if you are going to move, make sure to choose the franchise that’s doing business in your new place of residence. I should have chosen aamco bc they have a lot more locations throughout the states where cottman only has franchises in 25 states.
