Cracker Barrel Old Country Store

So we were going to eat here and decided not to when we were greeted with a humongous dead cockroach on the floor beside our table. The managers and servers reaction was an indication this was a problem they were well aware that they had. Needless to say we left.

Nice place, clean store and restaurant. The food is good. This is one of my wife’s favorite restaurants. And it’s hard getting her out of the store. I wish they had real fried chicken like legs and thighs but. It’s ok. We had breakfast here today and it was very good the pancake were burnt on one side but other than that it was good.

If you want ok food and bad service after ten hours on the road this is your place! Last week they forgot half the order and I called George and he said the next time through to call and he would replace it. I called and was told I would need to speak to a manager 12 mins. later after using the hotel phone while I was still on hold on my cell he answered the hotel phone. Then he put me on hold so someone could take my order. After being on hold 8 more mins I called back and tried to explain you don’t replace bad customer service more and more bad customer service! He had nothing to say-​nothing! So now we are waiting an hour for pizza since together it took about that long to get nothing from Cracker Barrel! We will never ever be back. We looked forward to our 2 stops every year at this location.

Pleasant dinner but still no apple dumplings even though it’s on the menu.
We enjoyed the grilled chicken and bacon sandwich with a side of dumplings.

Service isn’t the grandest, but the food is always good and once your order is placed you get it quickly. Placing an order to-​go is a slow process, but at least you know exactly what you are getting.

The food is always good for breakfast but this time we had a new waitress so we had probables with everything we ordered. things did not come out as ordered and we had to bypass what we wanted as the waitress seemed a bit confused. They really should have new staff shadow seasoned workers for awhile. We felt bad for her, but worse for us as we usually get the same thing each time and did not get it

The restaurant is kid-​friendly (e.g.: games, etc.), clean, with ample free parking free of debris, friendly and efficient service.
The highlight of their breakfast menu is the fluffy and buttery pancakes.

Lovely place!!! The food was great and hot even though they were busy and understaffed they did a great job.. I especially appreciated the manager bussing tables and assisting any way he could.. We were feeding my newly graduated soldier and they were very attentive.

Second time there it took Three tries to get the order somewhat correct George the Manager seemed like he wanted to fix the problem but I felt he was just dragging his feet. It took between an hour to an hour and a half to get out of there. Our waitress Sophia was so wonderful about everything. Our glasses were always full and she continually checked on us and made sure everything was OK. I will never step foot in that Cracker Barrel again. If this one is any indicator of all Cracker Barrel’s you can keep them.

the first time I ordered grilled catfish and hashbrown casserole with cucumber, tomato and onion salad.
1) catfish was fine
hashbrown casserole was dry, crunchy and «old»
cucumber, onion and tomato salad– UGH. LARGE thick slices cucumber, whole cherry tomatoes and a tiny slice of onion tossed in Italian dressing. (this is not how you make a marinated tom, cuke and onion salad people!)
2) waitress disappeared after food delivered
3) spoke with manager as we were leaving about the disappointing parts of our visit and he offered to give me some fresh hashbrown casserole to go home with. stated I must’ve gotten the last little bits from the pan. REALLY? why would they serve that if it doesn’t meet quality standards? anyway took him what seemed forever to bring back the to go box, I was so ready to leave at that point.
4) 3 people at the registers trying to solve a issue while there is a LINE of us trying to get the hell out. we were going to purchase a few items but they didn’t seem to acknowledge the line
SECOND visit (2 adults– 2 teens) Our waitress is Sophia and the manager is George (I know because I had to speak with them so much). this time I decided to try the ribeye steak MEDIUM RARE with hashbrown casserole and a side salad. NOW the menu says you can get 3 vegetables or substitute the 3 vegetables for a baked potato and a side salad. no mention of a additional charge at all for this substitution– after all you are getting one less side. my daughter orders the grilled chicken BLT sandwich.
the other adult in my party had to get utensils 3 times because they were DIRTY, unfortunately the nice young lady trying to assist us in getting a clean set had to get the anger from my dinner companion, since our waitress was off somewhere. our waitress returns and apologizes for the utensils and states this has happened before with the people who prepare them.
our food comes– I have NO SALAD. waitress finally comes back and I ask where my salad is– light bulb moment on her face as she apologizes– then runs off to the kitchen. While she is gone I cut into my steak and it is WELL– no pink in it at all.
She returns with my freshly made salad and we have to inform her of the steak. she takes it back. when she returns we inform her that my slow poke eating daughter just noticed there is NO CHICKEN in her sandwich. she takes that back. she returns with steak number 2 and apologizes and leaves. I cut into it and its RAW– not RARE I mean BLUE (chef term for RAW)! she returns with daughters sandwich. I SHOW HER THE STEAK I asked could they please cook it a little longer. as she reaches over me to get my daughters glass to refill she pours tea all over my steak and plate. she then assures me she will get the manager and he will most likely comp my meal.
the manager comes and I explain all that has happened. He says he will personally oversee my steak. SO on the THIRD try I finally get a properly cooked steak. by now my whole table has finished eating and I am still hungry after that salad.
our check comes and I am shocked that not only did he not deduct ANYTHING from my bill but they actually charged me EXTRA for that salad! my entrée went from around $ 14 to almost $ 18! I bring it to Sophia’s attention by stating he didn’t discount this at all? I figured he would’ve given me some kind of a discount for it. ANYWAY, George did remove both my meal and my daughters meal from the ticket and we just paid for our drinks. I did leave Sophia a $ 7 tip (although my ticket wasn’t even $ 5) — I don’t know if it was the kitchen or her fault for the salad and gave her the benefit of the doubt, wasn’t her fault my steaks were cooked wrong. she did apologize over and over. and George was helpful as well.
BUT I will not return to this location and I will think hard before going to another — I have always loved Cracker barrel– but 2 times in a row at this location and failure both times

Ordered biscuits and gravy and over hard eggs. Waiting on my biscuit and the eggs were scrambled. This locations is the worst managed. I have been to dozens up and down the east coast by far this location is run horrible low quality staff.

Had a terrible experience waited over an hour to be seated then waited an hour and 30 mins to get eggs and pancakes the manager apologized but never came back to check up on us even though the orders were all messed up. It was a waste of money for the quality of service and food. This was my first and last time at Cracker Barrel.

I ordered the apple struesel French toast with biscuits and gravy. The French toast was amazing. The biscuits were warm at best. The wait staff was friendly. However my friend found a fly in his hash brown casserole which grossed us all out.

Felt like I was at grandma’s house eating and making moonshine. Wait staff was so nice. Even got the complimentary fly in my hashbrown casserole, just like grandma’s. Enjoy being taken back to a time long ago when know one cared if bugs made it into the meal.

Every time I come here, they always have great food and service. There variety of goods in the store is also great. Always love to go here with my family and friends. I would recommend this place to everyone in Columbia and others that are traveling through.

Had a great breakfast and great service at this location. The butter pancakes and potato casserole were very yummy. I has the blackberry topping with whipped cream. My eggs were cooked perfectly.

20 minute wait after seating no corn bread. Manager attempted to charge 1.89 more for a 1.69 kids bowl of soup. Chicken and dump-​ins had no taste. many other problems. Won’t eat there again.

OK, yes its Cracker Barrel and they do have the stink of their anti-​gay practices but I have to say that I love stopping at these places when on a long trip. We recently took the family to the midwest and stopped at this store on the way home.
Not much changes between locations. I typically get breakfast when we come, even if it is lunch time. Their Mama’s breakfast is fantastic. I enjoy getting the pancakes with pecans in them. Their coffee is really good too.
Of course, the one negative for me is the wife and daughters love to shop their too! So they get my money from both sides of the store. The store does have some interesting candy selections, like Turkish Taffy. Great for long rides.

Cracker Barrel delivery drivers must have it pretty easy. Every location is right next to the Interstate. Even this one, which was a little further away than usual, must be a total lack of challenge for an 18-​wheel driver!
Once parked, it was the standard friendly service as at every CB. Gift shop selling trinkets and candies, lots of coffee refills, mildly greasy and salty meal (two eggs with sausage patties, biscuits, gravy, grits) and back onto the highway.
No complaints!

This place is always good!!!
We ordered breakfast for dinner. The eggs over easy were perfect and the grits and bacon were great! My date ordered sausage patties and hashbrowns. The waitress was great. We didn’t have to ask for refills on our drinks. Reasonably priced and always good.
The country store part of the restaurant is addictive. I cannot go into the restaurant without visiting the store and buying at least one thing. They have great clearance sections and always have some interesting things to offer.
