History

Learning Music is FUN!

The Maryland Music Academy has been providing music lessons since 2004. At first, the Academy was a division of Maryland Piano Service, Inc, a full service piano company, your neighbor since 1976. In 2012, the Academy branched off as a stand-​alone school. We’re excited about our growth and look forward to continuing to serve Howard County for many years to come. In April 2013 we opened the doors of our brand new, state-​of-​the-​art expansion.

Our new facility has eight private lesson studios, rehearsal room, a large retail store, study spaces, a snack bar, and more. We have a new website, new logo, and a fresh, professional look and feel. Join us in celebrating music!

Our school has a staff of University-​Educated music professionals who enjoy providing a musical experience tailored to the needs of each student.

Meet the Business Owner

Nancy H.

Business Owner

Nancy completed the advanced Customer Service Training Program with Chesapeake & Potomac in 1972. The skills she learned there have been useful ever since. She has been in the piano business since 1979.

Nancy’s love of music and people, as well as computer and telephone skills, made the right combination for her many years as Manager of Maryland Piano Service, Inc.

Born and raised in Maryland, Nancy and her husband, Phil Heiliger, have raised 5 children with music as a central part of family life. You have probably heard Phil play Jazz Piano in local restaurants, clubs, banquet halls, and parties around the general Metropolitan Area.

With 39 years of teaching experience, and a real love for children, Nancy is excited about the many opportunities to help The Maryland Music Academy grow.
