Performance Window Tinting & Auto Detailing

I have had my tint on my vehicle installed here and have my car washed and waxed here regularly.
The receptionists are always nice and polite, my car is always serviced at the time I scheduled, and my car always looks great after a visit.

First, after waiting 3 hours in their lobby, they put tint on my car that had bubbles and dirt in it. Don’t they look at it when they put it on? I didn’t have more time to waste, so I told them I would bring it back another time for them to replace it.
Then, when given the choices of different tints, I asked 3 different times, «is this one legal», to which they answered yes. I told them I’m comfortable with tint not that dark, I just want to be sure its legal. They assured me that mine was legal. As I’m sitting in their lobby for hours, I’m looking at the different tints, and ask again, «Is the tint that I chose legal?», again I’m answered yes. My car failed MD state inspection because the tint was not legal, and when I returned to the Performance Window Tinting, they told me that I signed a waiver, and they could not help me. A few minutes later, some guy named C called me back and said he would do me a big favor, and not charge me to take the tint off, but would still charge me to put new legal tint on.
No thanks, I’ll take it off myself, and go someplace that cares about its customers experience to have them put it on.
Don’t waste your time with this place, there are a million tint places in the area, this one does not treat its customers well at all.

These guys do tremendous work. They’re fast, they pay attention to detail, their prices are fair, and their management focuses on keeping customers happy. I ‘be trusted them to detail my BMW and my Ford truck for years. Every single time I pick them up they look they just rolled off the show room floor. I can’t recommend these guys enough!

Because of the number of positive reviews, I was reluctant to post a negative one about this place and appear to be one of those impossible customers who is never satisfied, no matter how hard a business works to please them. But the job done by Performance Window Tinting on my car truly deserves a 1-​star rating. They abused my car and my trust, and left me questioning the validity of the many 5-​star reviews they have on Unilocal.
I dropped off my new car to have the windows tinted. I’ve had other vehicles tinted, but this was the first (and last) time I used these guys. The receptionist was friendly and informative, and helpful in selecting the type of tint I purchased. I took a seat in the waiting area expecting to be there about 2 hours. I was having all of the windows tinted, including the windshield. 45 minutes later I was told my car was ready. This was alarming since I didn’t think it was possible to do a quality job in such a short amount of time. And I was right. I picked up my key and went to find my car. No one walked out with me to see if I was happy with the work. Every other time I’ve had windows tinted, the installer or the manager came out to ensure I was satisfied with the job. Apparently these guys just don’t care. The first thing I noticed was the weather stripping on the inside of the front windows had been cut away. Seriously, someone had taken a razor blade to my new car and vandalized the interior to save a few minutes of instillation time! I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. No one mentioned that this was part of their process, and I’ve never had that done by another shop. It’s an amateurish, rookie move that no self-​respecting technician would do. Sure, it saves the installer a few minutes by not having to work around the weather stripping, but it fucks up the vehicle. The weather stripping is there for a reason, you assholes! Next I found dried soapy water stains all over the dashboard, down the insides of the doors, and on the leather seats. Soaping the windows is part of the instillation process, but so is wiping up the mess you create in someone else’s car. How much time and effort does it really take to clean up after yourself? Less than a minute? Maybe two? Instead they left stains all over the inside of my new vehicle. Stains that took me over an hour to remove. Thanks guys. The final issue was the bubbling in the tint. Several dime-​sized bubbles remained across the rear window after the tint was allowed to fully dry. I reluctantly took the car back to Performance to get this fixed. They replaced the rear window tint, but managed to do an even worse job than before. More bubbles. After the tint dried I was able to flatten most of the larger ones. The few that I couldn’t fix will be a continuous reminder to never use this shop again.
Update: It’s been a little over a year since these guys tinted my windows, and the windshield tint is already peeling off in two places. I realize that it’s covered under the warranty, but I’d rather pay someone else full price to install new tint than trust these clowns to do it for free.

I called Performance based on their reputation and reviews here on Unilocal.The woman on the phone was very nice and extremely helpful. I made an appointment for noon, and dropped the car off early at 11:45am on my lunch hour.
Since I figured it would take some time, I walked up the road to grab a bite to eat. When I returned at 12:45, the car had not moved. All I had requested was to have the tint on the front two windows removed so the car would pass Maryland inspection! When pressed on why the car hadn’t been touched, all I got was, «We’re busy today.» Um, yeah, I get it. I’m busy too. That’s why I made an appointment before driving 25 minutes from N. Silver Spring to get there. So now, I’m no closer to passing inspection, and I’ve wasted my time and gas driving up there and back.
I prefer to patronize businesses that do a better job of doing what they say they’re going to do, and if things change, managing the customer’s expectations. Lots of places do tint work, I’m not going to bother with a place that doesn’t appear to have any respect for my time.

Great customer service. Very knowledgeable about which tint is best and won’t get you pulled over. Got a nice scratch out on the side and didn’t break the bank. The tint job was fast and looks great! Great people who don’t try to rip you off and do great work.

Friendly staff. My window tint is not even complete yet, but, this business gets 5 stars for the over-​the-​top customer service!!! Very friendly and doesn’t just treat you as a number. So happy with my decision to come here.

Just had my car tinted and detailed. Tint came out great! Matched the factory tint almost perfect service was quick, professional and worth the money! As for the detail the techs did a great job vacuum shampoo etc etc the car looked amazing especially for bringing it in just after a two week road trip with four kids and God only knows how many French fries stomped into the carpet. All in all car looked brand new afterwards! Good job guys. I’ll be bringing my new car buy in the next few weeks!

Amazing, professional, fast service. The office staff were on point… detailed, accurate & responsive. The tint crew were incredible… clean, respectful and did seriously impressive work.

Bringing a 2015 in for them to set up made me nervous, but I can tell you it looked better and was cleaner than how it went in. Absolutely the best place in Maryland.

I give this place a two.
It’s getting two, because I had my tints done here last year, which was fine. After the second time they did it. The first time I noticed 2 hairs in the back window. They fixed it for free. So that’s good.
Heres where the bad comes in. I brought my Jeep in to get a full service detail. ($ 175). When I returned to pick up the Jeep, everything looked good. I didn’t inspect it too hard until I got home. It was terrible. It looks like they just wiped down the inside of my car with ArmorAll and vacuumed. They didn’t touch half of the inside of the car. If it was behind the front seats, it basically wasn’t touched. The steering wheel was not touched. The back trunk space was not touched.
Now the outside. They did an OK job washing it. Like what I would expect from a 12 year old going around outside asking his neighbors to wash the car. They left tons and tons of wax residue all over the place. There were stains on the front pillar next to the windshield that I literally took 5 seconds rubbing with my finger and it came off. I expected my Jeep to look like it just got off the assembly line, especially for $ 175. What I got was a 12 year old with dish soap and his mothers sponge for washing dishes.
Long story short, I’ll never recommend this place to anyone looking for anything other than a tint.

Had my car windows tinted here. I was in and out in 30 minutes (with appointment). The quality was great and the staff was friendly.

I just bought a new car last week and really wanted to get tints. With not knowing to much and my boyfriend living three hours away I decided to go on the adventure myself. I looked on Unilocal and saw this place fairly close to me and awesome reviews. I see why the reviews are so good. Everything was explained to me in a way I could understand, the receptionist was very knowledgeable. I went in around 130 and got an estimate. Prices are clearly posted. Brought my car back at 230 was paid and out the door by 3. Very fast and awesome work done. I would recommend this place to everyone. I think they even have a groupon …

you know what I’m going to go ahead and give them the full 5 stars because they did exactly what they offered which was a full car tint. They provided me with plently of information as I asked questions and the tint job looks great. These days it is really hard to get that kind of service. My Brown Mini Cooper Countryman just got a little cooler today inside and out. pardon the pun haha.

We’ve had all three of our vehicle’s windows tinted at Performance Window Tinting. They did an awesome job each time. Their customer service is always great! We would definitely recommend their services to everyone.

According to Unilocal’s rating system, two stars means, «Meh. I’ve experienced better.» That captures perfectly how I feel about this business. I’ve been procrastinating on writing this review because I couldn’t quite describe how I felt about them. Now that I’m writing I realize that’s really how I feel.
I have had cars tinted before. In fact, I wrote a glowing review here on Unilocal for a place in California where the shop owner did the install himself. He spent three hours on my car and made it look show quality the first time. That is not the level of service I received from PWT.
To begin with, the customer service left much to be desired. The receptionist was bland and unfriendly. She wasn’t mean or rude, just flat. Next, she told me that my car would be finished in about 40 minutes. I was shocked. I thought to myself, «There’s no way they can do a good job in 40 minutes.» You know what? I was right. Forty minutes later I was told that my car was ready. No one came with me to look over the work or ask me how I liked it. I had to do the walk-​around on my own and I was pretty disappointed. There were bubbles or dust in every window. This was a new (used) car, by the way, with a fresh dealer’s detailing. I don’t know where they found so much dust. When I came back inside to politely point it out I was told to wait 48 hours to see if they go away on their own (yeah, right) and if not, call in to schedule a follow up. Now, very dubious of this shop, I decided to ignore my suspicions and trust their advice.
When I called in to schedule the follow up visit I got the shop owner. He put me on hold in the middle of scheduling the appointment and when he came back on the line he scheduled me for the wrong day. The next day when they started leaving voice mails to inform that I had an appointment I called the owner again to say that he scheduled me for the wrong day. He then had the nerve to blame me and tell me that I asked for the wrong day. Now they no longer had a slot for me and I had to wait another week.
At long last I finally got my car back in for a follow-​up. Yes, they removed some of the bubbles but not all. They seem to have had a hard time working out the bubbles near my embedded radio antenna. In some places they made it tight, in others they still left bubbles.
As an aside, I recently received a friend request from this business which to me was mind-​boggling considering the experience I had. That request was really what prompted me to write this review.
In conclusion, this business did a job that was barely adequate. They’re not friendly, they’re not proud of their work. While I’m glad the work is done, I won’t be recommending this shop to friends and should I ever need warranty repair (and I think I will) I’ll take my car to someone else who uses the same tint as I had installed.

Last month there was a streak of 90+ degree weather and high humidity for about a week. So getting into a car and driving with the sun beaming down on my arms prompted me to get my windows tinted ASAP. I’m not sure why I didn’t tint my windows before, because I had the same car last summer… ??? BUT it’s probably because I’ve been riding around in my boyfriends car with tinted windows and the sun never burns my arms.
I found out that the MD tint laws state your tint must allow more than 35% of light into the vehicle. Believe it or not most cars already have a bit of a tint on the windows. So if you get 35% or more, the extra tint already on your windows will take you past the legal limit. They will have you sign a document that states that they informed you of the tint laws, BUT they will go ahead and tint your windows as dark as you’d like.
I believe you can get a ticket for having windows that are too dark, so just be mindful of that. Not sure if they really pull you over for that, unless your windows are pitch black. I see so many cars that have tinted windows past 35%, I really wouldn’t worry about it.
I’m not going to share the tint that I purchased for my car, because I am not admitting to any crime! lol. I did purchase the tint with a lifetime warranty against bubbling and all that jazz, which costs a bit more than the basic tint.
Anywho, I made a early morning Saturday appointment. The lady/​receptionist was «friendly and informational» so she was knowledgeable regarding the differences in the tints available. I was in around 9am and out by 10:15am. I was amazed… you mean my car is already ready?! lol. My total was about $ 200 bucks for a two door coupe. The tint looked good! After I drove away, I noticed that they didn’t clean up very well near the back windows of my coupe… so I had to wipe it down with a cloth myself. It doesn’t really affect the tint, I know, but still come on techs, clean up after your work! (–1 star)
I couldn’t roll my windows down for 48 hours to allow it to dry and solidily set, so don’t be absent minded and roll the windows down because it could ruin the tint! They will fix it, but you’ll have to go another 48 hours…
I would definitely recommend this place! I’ve had my tint for over a month now, and there are no signs of cracks, peeling or bubbling. That was probably my biggest fear, because everyone has seen some bad tint jobs. Just pay the money (prices start at $ 120) for a good quality tint and you will not be disappointed!

I haven’ got much done on my car for a few years but recently had to take my tints off and took my car to this place. I was greeted by a super sweet girl that helped me out. My friend was waiting for me because other places I called told me it would take 1 – 4 hours to take off so I assumed it would been the same here but nope! My tints were off so quick by the time I walked to my friends car she called me saying my cars ready.
That’s what you call amazing service.
