Rosewood Market & Deli

I only wandered the store for a few minutes before stopping at the deli and deciding to grab lunch for my husband and I, so this review is mostly regarding the deli. The staff working behind the counter were very patient with me while I figured out what I wanted, and finally I decided on the vegan banh mi and the tofu curry grain bowl to go. The bowl didn’t take long, but I waited awhile for the sandwich. I actually didn’t mind though because I could see the person making it, and it seemed like he was really taking care at putting it all together.
The tofu in the bowl was perfectly prepared, not the slightest bit mushy and not the least bit overcooked, and though I prefer a stronger curry taste, the flavor was great. My husband ate the banh mi in its entirety, save for letting me have one little bite, and surprisingly, it was REALLY good. Admittedly, I was pretty skeptical of it when I ordered it but thought I’d take a chance. Glad I did. Both meals were excellent.
One thing I did notice was that while they do have commercially bottled kombucha in the cooler back by the deli, they also have it on their menu, I assume local brews, somewhere in the back on tap? I was excited to see that and made a mental note to get some next time I venture in during my stay in Columbia.
This place is pricey ($ 11 and some change each for the sandwich and bowl) but worth it. Plus the staff I encountered were super pleasant (to include the ladies at the registers up front).

This place puts such a smile on my face! Every time I visit Rosewood Market, I walk out with a new treat that I didn’t expect to find. The deli is always on point when I’m desperate for some fresh, healthy food. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. Go give some love to this ballin’ local business ASAP!

Great local organic market. The people are friendly and always have a smile on their face. It’s a small grocery store but they have everything.

I have grown to love this place. I really appreciate their rotating 20% off days because it is pricey. As far as I know, they are the only ones that have such a full and varied deli including brunch on the weekends. (Note that the deli food is excluded from the 20% off days). I have never had something where I later thought it wasn’t worth the price. I have had multiple varieties of their vegan muffins and they are hands-​down the best in the Columbia area (don’t go to the black bean company or anywhere else for them!) The store is very clean and organized too. I have no problem finding vegan foods. Plus the staff is so kind, friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. I think it is worth every penny and it shows because it is a 40 minute drive from my house.

The concept of this place is really great. Most of their products are from local farmers and cooks! A lot of their stuff is organic and healthy. I recommend trying their pimento cheese, it’s fantastic! They often have store sales where everything is 15% off, which is awesome! The only reason I’m not giving them 5 stars is because of the prices. Together my boyfriend and I got 6 small things and ended up paying $ 50, even with the 20% off.

Great place! If you are «crunchy,» then this is the shop for you. I had been wanting to check out Rosewood Market, so when I saw on their FB page that they were having 20% off for customer appreciation day, I knew it was time to pay a visit. The shop is small, but conveniently arranged and not crowded. In general, most of the goods are pricier than Whole Foods or Publix, so I probably wouldn’t use Rosewood for all my grocery shopping needs. However, the store carries certain items that I haven’t been able to find at Whole Foods, such as soy-​free meatless crumbles and actual local honey. I don’t follow a gluten-​free diet, but for those who do, there is an impressive assortment of gluten free baking mixes, flours, and snacks that you won’t find at Whole Foods. I also loved that they carried a lot of Bob’s Red Mill products. They have a bulk section similar to Whole Foods which is a great way to buy on a budget. I really enjoyed the chilled, relaxed vibe of the store. All the employees were friendly and helpful. The only thing I would suggest to the store for improvement would be to take greater care with the price stickers on items. On both the peanut butter and the honey, I found different price tags on jars of the exact same product which was confusing. Overall, I had a great experience and look forward to returning to try out and review their deli.

This is a great place to buy wholesome food. I love how they sell a lot of locally grown and produced products. On top of that they are very proud that they support local vendors. Prices are a little higher but everything is quality. They offer 20% off your purchase 1 day a week which helps a lot when purchasing from there. Their deli is great! I often go there when I want a quick wholesome meal. They have a local seafood vendor that comes once a week as well.

I absolutely love this deli, they have an amazing food menu everyday… vegetarian choices… salads, pasta, desserts, yummmm
The grocery side is a little pricey but, not too bad.
Is just a shame I don’t get to be in Columbia more often!

Small but if you go on their 20% off day you can snag some good deals. Everyone is very nice and helpful if you need assistance. The deli also has a nice selection if fresh items. Support local businesses like this one!

The vendors here keep getting better! I got smoked sturgeon and a trout spread that was oh so good from Our Local Catch. The store also had 20% off in the store score!

Outstanding service and food! We are visiting from FL and being vegan on the road isn’t always easy. But this gem made it a breeze. They were friendly and accommodating. My husband wanted a breakfast item from the weekday menu and they were happy to make it for him even though it was their Sunday brunch menu that day. We both had the grits which we agreed were the best we ever had. It was easy to order from their color coded menu, the vegan items were green. They made good suggestions when we couldn’t decide and everything was super yummy! We marked it in our gps to return when we pass through again next time. Excellent!

I love how friendly and genuine the service is at Rosewood Market. These days they have a lot of competition in town and I don’t love nearby anymore but I still visit here for some special things. Their bulk herb and spice section is the best in Columbia for sure and the food in the deli is always delicious. Be sure to also check the cooler in the deli for markdowns. You can often get some of yesterdays hot bar food for half price or less.

These people, every one of them, are like family to me. I know each and every person that works here by name, and them me. That’s what kind of place Rosewood Market is. Something that rarely exists in this world any more. A staff that takes pride in what they do, that will absolutely go out of their way for every customer. That experience almost doesn’t exist anymore.
Rosewood Market stocks so many products that are completely unavailable in other health food stores. Heavy focus on local products and produce. Overall, the absolute best produce selection in Columbia. Nowhere else comes anywhere close. The produce manager has literally been there for decades and stands alone in his knowledge and passion for what he carries and offers to customers.
Great selection of bulk items, fair trade coffees that are not available anywhere else, and likely the best and most carefully chosen cheese selection in town.
The deli features an ever rotating menu that always offers something fresh and delicious to suit any dietary need. Vegan, vegetarian, macrobiotic, or grab some eggs and turkey bacon for brunch on Sunday.
This place is a rarity in a world of bland and homogenized shopping options. We should all feel lucky to still have a place like Rosewood Market filled with people who actually enjoy what they do and enjoy greeting you every time you walk through the door.

Rosewood Market is a great alternative to the grocery store when you need to pick up a few things on the way home, and an AWESOME lunch spot. Some items are a bit pricier (hence the four stars), so it hasn’t become my go to grocery store, but I do come here about once a week to pick up a few things. Great selection of local produce, that is very fresh. I once went in to snag a bunch of cilantro and they were literally just washing and packaging them up in the back and gave me some of the freshest cilantro I have every purchased. They also have a wide selection of gluten free goodies that can be hard to find elsewhere, including gluten free pizza crusts, gluten free cookies, etc.
I also really enjoy going to Rosewood for lunch. Their selection changes daily, and they typically post what they are serving on their Facebook page. They usually have a few different «diet» options meaning: vegan, macrobiotic, etc. I’m not vegan, vegetarian, whatever, but have had some of everything and enjoy it :)
They also have a really great personal care section, and the staff is super helpful. I came in looking for a face moisturizer and left with handfuls of samples to try and some almond oil.
They also host a variety of local vendors, including Our Local Catch, throughout the week… which they again post on their facebook page.
They’ve done away with the little loyalty tags, so now you simply sign up and let them know that you have signed up and they give you the 5% discount.
The one drawback is the higher prices on some items, but if you spend some time acquainting yourselves with their selection you can definitely find some great deals.
Overall a GREAT local store to support.

Basil (how perfect could his name be?), the owner, is beyond awesome! He is very in-​tuned to his patrons needs and will bend over backwards to help. For such a tiny place, to have the variety they have and at such impressive prices compared to Earthfare, and even Whole Foods, is amazing. They have on staff herbalism/​nutrition specialist (sorry I don’t know the title) but they help when finding which homeopathic medicine to get for different ailments.
They have a fob for a 5% discount every purchase, but they have 20% off days that are listed when you sign up for their newsletter.

Great smaller, independent grocery store. They have a deli that makes fresh food for all 3 meals a day, but it is really pricey for what you get. The times I have had lunch for $ 8+tax without drink I am hungry 2 – 3 hours later. The store itself has a standard mix of produce, grocery and wellness. They also have a 5% off keychain that gives you discounts everyday plus 20% off days every so often. If the local selections increased and the deli/​pre-​prepared prices came down a bit (10% or so) it would be 5 stars.

I try to support local businesses whenever I can, and I simply love this place. They have lots of health foods that are sometimes hard to find a larger chain grocers. I love that they carry Quest protein bars, which can be tough to find.
I’ve never been disappointed in any of the freshly prepared foods I’ve eaten from the deli. They normally have a vegan, a macrobiotic, and a lower carb option for dinner, so they really cater to many different healthy lifestyles.
My only complaint is that the prices can be a bit high, but the 20% off days definitely help.

Small local market that looks a little dated inside. I have only been here twice to get their super fresh, local pollen. They have everything a usual natural foods store would have: produce, vitamins, bulk grain, non-​perishable food items. I haven’t tried the deli yet, but it looks appetizing.

They have brie by the wedge/​single serving. I’m in love.
I’m in no way, shape or form a health food person, vegetarian or vegan. I do not have adverse reaction to gluten or wheat. And I’m absolutely positive I will be going back to Rosewood Market & Deli. :-)
I’ve always thought that this was a little specialized store for the super health conscious and wouldn’t have many products that I would enjoy. I purchased a Living Social coupon thinking that I could at least pick up some produce at ½ off but I found so much more.
First, I noticed how many gluten free products they have. I know a couple of people with gluten issues so I’m always on the look out for places that stock these products. They are also easy to find products. Everything is well labeled! I also saw signs for wheat free products.
Some of the produce was reasonable priced (some was a bit pricey) and I picked up possibly the biggest tomato I’ve ever seen along with a couple of onions and a green pepper. Obviously that didn’t get me up to the $ 20 that I had with my Living Social voucher so I roaming around I went. They had a lovely selection of cheeses (did I mention my love of brie?) and meats. Boyfriend and I are partial to Applegate Farms products and have found only a limited supply in our regular grocery store. Rosewood Market is like an Applegate Farms oasis. Many more products (including pepperoni which I didn’t even know they made!) and they were all at the same price or cheaper than the grocery store. Bonus!
Double Bonus — they have 20% off Basil Days! The LOVELY cashier (the service was excellent throughout the entire store and deli) that helped me told me all about them and even grabbed a magazine from outside that showed an ad for the special days.

Boyfriend and I will DEFINITELY be going back for the Applegate, delicious cheeses and probably a few abnormally large tomatoes! I also have to try the deli items. The chicken salad looked downright delectable.

I really love this place! I just moved from Atlanta and got used to a lot of community owned places and farmers market so I love having something so close, even if it’s a tidbit smaller. Staff is always super friendly and super healthy and I’ve yet to not love any products I get from the grocery side of the store. I love the market as well — I haven’t eaten there much, but I get their wrapped deli wraps to take to work a lot and they are always amazing and vegetarian friendly! I wish they had more/​better parking and stayed open later on Sunday nights because that’s when I typically do my shopping, but still, I love it! They do 20% off days pretty regularly, so that’s nice too.
