Sheraton Hotel & Conference Center

Rooom was clean and bed was very comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful too. Breakfast had a variety of offerings and was good.

Got a great last-​minute Priceline rate at this well-​appointed downtown hotel in Columbia. We’d read the reviews and thought we could self-​park in the garage for $ 10, but was told otherwise once there. Fortunately, it was late on Saturday night so we were able to park on the street and leave our car overnight for free. Worked out fine, but should be noted.
After a quick check-​in, we opened our door and were overwhelmed by the room; it was perfect. Dark hardwood floors, huge king bed, nice flatscreen tv in both the bedroom and bathroom all made for a great first impression.
For someone that doubts how sanitary a bathroom remote might be I ask if they have any idea of the studies that show the gunk on regular hotel room remotes? You don’t want to know… but it’s safe to say that you should carry some kind of sanitary wipe with you. I thought the bathroom tv was a fun and indulgent amenity and one I enjoyed while getting ready for a night out!
And the night out doesn’t need to extend beyond the hotel premises; they have the most amazing rooftop bar called, smartly, The Rooftop. It attracts city residents so you’re bound to find some locals who can give information about the city, but we sat up there for hours watching the playoffs and drinking martinis. At least go up there to check out the view… Columbia isn’t big, but it’s a very nice city with a great nighttime view.
Bed was very plush with four different types of pillows to choose from and, though we somehow missed them, the windows DO have blackout screens to cover the blinds… the sun was too bright in the morning after those martinis and it was only then that we noticed the screens. Duh.
The checkout was confusing b/​c we booked on Priceline with my partner’s MC, but our billed showed a charge to my Visa. So far, it’s still only on my Visa but we’re watching for a few more days to make sure nothing pops up otherwise. Was a little perturbed by this b/​c I’ve not used my Visa and have been trying to pay it down (go Dave Ramsey!) but absent-​mindedly handed it over for the credit hold upon arrival. We never do movies or mini-​bar in our rooms so I figured it’d be a wash… still not sure how that all happened, but just be aware of that. The man at check-​out couldn’t have been over 20 and wasn’t very sure of himself or what had happened. But, se la vie, life goes on.
