Americana Apartments & Offices

I have lived in the Americana for about 1 year now. I have a 2 bedroom garden. The price is right on par with the level of cleanliness, crime rate, and horrible maintenance. This complex is one of the most cheap that you can find in the area. Do not be fooled by the price. Yes, the
location is very good and is located on the southeast end of downtown but the property management is HORRIBLE. My first red flag was that the
property manager, Rich Hunter, had changed the price on me several times before I had officially moved in. I pay around $ 110 more a month than
the original quote. I let Rich know that he kept changing the price on me but he had said that I must not have heard him correctly, which was not
true. Finally he had said that the price was raised because the unit had been renovated. I was okay with this fact at first, even though I did
not ask for the renovation. Later I realized that the renovation really did not make any sort of difference when comparing to the non renovated
units. The biggest difference in what he called «the new layout» was that I had new carpetting. Aren’t complex’s supposed to replace the
carpetting unless the carpet is in good shape?
My second red flag was that after moving in, I noticed that the bathroom closet door was broken, the microwave handle had a huge crack in it and
was glued back on it looked like, and the apartment was filthy. They did not clean up after the «renovation». It took almost 2 months to get all
of these issues fixed and to get a new microwave. I find this time frame to be ridiculous. The maintenance man is actually Rich’s brother. By the
way, Rich AND his brother are very very very rude. They lack customer service skills of any sort.
Within 6 months of living in this area, my car had been broken in to twice and Rich did not do anything about it except for telling me to call
the police. Most of the outside cameras only point to where Rich, his brother, and his brother’s son parks their vehicles. Other than that, there
aren’t any cameras that cover the rest of the parking lot. Rich’s newphew lives on the 6^th floor of one of the buildings and actually sells
heroine, cocaine, and marijuana out of his unit. Before I knew that this was Rich’s nephew, I had brought up the fact that someone is selling
heroine and Rich became very irate and told me to stop spreading rumors and to mind my own business. I later then found out that this person was
his nephew and understood why he had became so irate. On top of all of this, the entry doors to the buildings are typically broken and a few of
the machines in the workout facility have been broken since I have moved in. Maintenance is horrible! The parking lot is ALWAYS full and I
usually have to park down the street and walk home. The dumpsters are always overflowing which brings many bugs and a horrible smell. You can
hear almost every unit surrounding you and also the hallway, seems like the walls do not have any sound barriers. The washers in the laundry room
are very cheap and very weak. Sometimes I put my clothes in the washer twice in a row. The main entrances are not wheelchair accessable. The side
doors slam shut which shakes many of the units all the way up to the 6^th floor and can hear the doors slam like you are next to them.
Now, for the worst part of all, this whole entire complex is infested with bedbugs. I have spoken to many of the residents that continue to have
this problem. When I first went and told rich of the issue, he had told me that he is 100% sure that I brought them in to my place myself. How
can anyone be 100% sure of this? He kept mentioning that no other residents had this issue but he was going to be nice and pay for the
extermination just this first time but every time after this I will need to pay. At first I had thought that he was being nice by paying even
though it is usually the complex’s responsibility to handle this issue, but then I had later found out that MANY residents have this issue which
lead me to believe that I did not bring these bugs in to my unit. I spoke over the phone with the exterminator that Rich hired and we set up the
time and date for her to come by. I had asked her to call me an hour before she arrives so that way I could meet her and speak with her in person
about the issue. She never called me. I actually ended up coming home from work to meet her since she didn’t call and found out that she was
already at my place spraying. I thought that this was a little weird. I went inside and saw that she was spraying with what looked like a big can
of Raid. She also was not wearing a mask or gloves or any type of protection. I found that very very odd. I asked her what kind of chemicals she
was using to kill the bed bugs and she could not give me a straight answer, she just kept describing what it does and how it works. I had her
come back a second time which did not rid the issue. I told Rich and he

I have lived in here for a little over six months now. When I first came to check it out I was surprised I had only heard about it from one person, it’s a great deal for living in the heart of Columbus. This place has every highway within reach and is hidden between German Village and downtown. It’s possible to walk/​bike to great locations in German Village and Dirty Franks and Little Palace is a stone throw away.
I pay 505 for my one bedroom and it’s perfect for one person. It almost resembles a hotel from the 80’s but it has plenty of happy residents. The price is fine considering, there is a pool, sauna, and gym and i have never felt unsafe or fears my apartment getting broken into. It’s somewhat of a hidden secret but I have no problem telling people about it :)
