Great food, fantastic service!!! The romano chicken is one of my favorites and I finally tried the Carrot Cake after hearing so many people rave about it. I have to say it was pretty good. but doesn’t compare to mine!

Usually have a good experience here but feel like it is going down hill. Last experience was just lack of service. We ordered an appetizer which was taking awhile, when I inquired about it our meal was being delivered. Definitely watch what they charge. I ordered a $ 38 bottle of wine and when I looked at the check they charged me $ 46. They did correct after I brought to their attention. Definitely left a bad taste in our mouth.

I was a frequent customer at their older location near campus, this location is in a strip mall, but it is much less crowded, same good food. A great place to grab lunch before heading out to the mall

I always get the meatloaf and my husband says their liver n onions is the best he’s ever had! You MUST order an appetizer and it has to be the Blue Maytag chips! To die for! Never have a bad experience here!

Cap City Diner in Grandview is one of my favorite Cameron Mitchell restaurants. As the Cap City Diner in Gahanna has pretty much the same menu, you would think that I’d like it just as much. That unfortunately was not the case. First, the building is sorely lacking in natural light and makes the interior look drab. Second, they have less than half the draft beer selection of the Cap City in Grandview. Third, their buttered rolls tasted a little stale compared to the fresh out of the oven fresh that seems to be the standard at Cap City in Grandview. But the dinner entrée were still just as plentiful and yummy. We had their pecan crusted porkchop and the southern fried chicken– both just as good as the version served in Grandview. So if you live on the east side of Columbus, this location is likely still a good dinner option. If you live anywhere else in Columbus however, go to the Cap City in Grandview. It’s not that Cap City Gahanna is bad… it’s just the Cap City Grandview is exceptional!

Went with my boyfriend and another couple. Was the first time for most of us. Was seated immediately. Our waitress, Lisa had a great personality and took great care of us. We were brought dinner rolls that were dry and there was no butter brought out with them. 2 people at our table ordered the Meat Loaf, one ordered Chicken Romano and I ordered Fish & Chips. We all pretty much had the same comment about our meals… common. Our meals had no «KA-POW» to them. My fish was not crispy battered. It was limp like it was in a styrofoam container for a while. The fries were just warm and blah. The jalapeño cole slaw was pretty good. For dessert my boyfriend and I each had Crème Brulee and the other couple shared a piece of the pink cake for breast cancer month. They were all fantastic! I think if we come back we will try other meals or just dessert since it was fantastic!

I came here to get the blue plate special: Walleye. I admit I’m a fish snob; living On the east coast does that to you. However, tasting walleye years ago in the mid west changed my mind about buying fish in the middle of the USA. Well, I just finished dinner and I’m already making plans for next Mondays Walleye special. Service by Chad was great and the manager was very engaging. Ambiance chic and cool American diner. Definite thumbs up.

Well, the rest of the group settled on Cap for our 200th birthday(two of us just turned 70 and another 60; add it up). Tad over priced, but pretty decent beer and cheddar soup with bacon crumbles. JMO, but needed diced green onions too. I had the meatloaf and I rarely order commercially made meatloaf but had it at the Grandview site and it’s pretty good, one other joined me in ordering the meatloaf. Another had salmon, one a veggie plate, one the eggs benedict, one chicken Caesar, one the Cap City Trio, I believe. Didn’t hear any complaints. We did get desserts.(they put candles on our celebrant’s) and I obviously ordered the wrong dessert, their Big Cup’o Chocolate. About all I can say is that it was in a big cup, dark brown, warm and sweet. I even saw a couple chocolate morsels but no chocolate flavor at all. I used a credit card. I do not sign my cards, I put«Request ID» on the signature line. Obviously never looked at the back, so ID wasn’t requested. Wonderful to see people again. We all worked together at one time. Took our time and at no time felt rushed. Other than the CC, our server was fine. Fun and food, what can you complain about. Just not someplace I’d go far out of my way to go back. YMMV.

Always a great place for a casual easy dinner. We were greeted and seated promptly. We had the chicken wings and calamari as appetizers. My mom and aunt shared the pecan crusted pork chops, which looked really good. My aunt said they were very tender. The meat loaf was good as well and very filling. It is always a treat to come here for dinner whenever I come home to Columbus.

Love Cap City! Food is excellent! I haven’t had anything I didn’t like, plus their gluten free fish & chips are super great. My brother in law has Celiac disease & has never had gluten free breaded fish like theirs! Service is great! Nothing negative at Cap City!

As I’m fairly new to the Columbus area, I’m never short on suggestions from co-workers and acquaintances on what restaurants are the best in the area. I’ve heard from several people that Cap City is a Columbus-must, so we finally gave it a shot last night. They take reservations, which is always a plus on my list! I made a reservation for 7:30 on a Friday night — but we were just too hungry and made it in about 20 minutes early. It was busy and bustling with people, but there wasn’t a wait and we were seated right away! I was surprised when we walked in the door… nothing about the restaurant screams«Diner» to me, outside of some diner-like options on the menu. Maybe it’s just me, but when I think of «diner» I think of the atmosphere more than I think of the food. It’s supposed to be a diner/artsy mixture, but I really didn’t feel the diner vibe at all. Not having my expectations met wasn’t a bad thing — I loved the décor and the vibe of the place, it was casual but not too casual, full of a variety of ages… there were couples and families and big groups. Our waitress was excellent. She made us feel the«fine» in Fine Dining & Bar. She was professional and polite, knowledgeable about the menu, available throughout our experience, friendly, and efficient! Now, the food! If you’re looking for super cheap drinks, you’re not in the right place. The cheapest beer on the menu was $ 4.50, which for a Bud Light, is not impressive. I ordered the non-alcoholic Peach Palmer and it came with an adorable little pitcher of its own, which ended up being about 2 ½ drinks worth. Not bad for $ 3.49. Your meal starts with BREAD, which for some is an unwanted temptation and for others the most exciting part of the meal :-) These do make me think diner, if by diner you mean cheap and bland. Not great. Definitely not up to par with the menu items they offer. My husband got the Romano Crusted Chicken. It was good but not spectacular. The sauce was delicious, but the chicken didn’t bring anything special to the table. I don’t know that it’s worth $ 17.29… but then again, it’s one of the cheaper items on the«large plates» menu, so maybe if you spend more money you get your money’s worth ;-) I got the Crab Cake Melt for 13.49 and it was AH-MAZING. The jalapeño remoulade really made the difference for me. I was unsure about the English Muffin when I ordered it, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I loved, loved, loved it! Cap City really is a great experience with delicious food but I’m going to have to take a star away for the price. I don’t know that I’m a fan of a casual atmosphere with a non-casual menu and price tag. If I want to spend a little more money on good food, I’m usually up for more of a «date night» atmosphere with a little bit of fancy in the mixture. There were kids everywhere, which is appropriate in the atmosphere, but I don’t think I want to spend the money to eat at a place that has a mother and young son in a bit of a verbal brawl at the next table. Great experience, just not my style.

Really nice, classy, clean place. Very cool décor that looks just like what an old diner might look like. We weren’t fans of their sweet and sour calamari, it was a bit mushy, but enjoyed our entrees! My husband said this was the best Philly cheesesteak he’s ever had. Service was prompt and friendly, but we were a little shocked at the prices. It didn’t seem that there was much on the menu under $ 15, so while one would expect lower prices for a casual diner, don’t do so at Cap City. It’s casual dining, with slightly more upscale food options and prices.

They do the diner classics better with a few different items thrown in. Had a birthday lunch celebration with a few coworkers. Went with the crab cake melt(no melt). A good crab cake with a great English muffin and fruit. Indulgence and some health. Our waitress, Dana was very friendly and attentive. When we asked more questions on the soup of the day(Carmelized onion with mushrooms) she offered to bring a sample. My coworker wanted to take the rest of her ice tea and asked for a to-go cup, then realized we needed to get back for a meeting and to leave without the tea. Dana found us in the parking lot with ice tea in hand.(That alone deserves a star).

True story: A long time ago, this was the first Cameron Mitchell restaurant I ever ate in. More years later than I want to admit, they haven’t changed much, but I don’t think that’s so bad. You go to Cap CIty because you want the upscale diner atmosphere, the drinks, the well executed comfort food(dat mealoaf!!!) and going to a restaurant where the«experience» has been carefully crafted and polished over the years. I’ve never had a bad meal here, and on the rare occasions where I felt there was a problem, the staff was quick to respond and correct it. Aside from the meatloaf, some of my favorites here are the maytag bleu cheese chips, the crab cake sandwhich(stuffed to the brim with ACTUALCRAB!), and their blue plate special Beef Stroganoff — fantastic, creamy, and almost overloaded with mushrooms! Somehow, despite going here again and again, I’ve never been for brunch — always lunch or dinner — but I have no doubt that it’s just as solid. Oh, and don’t forget to leave room for the truly massive chocolate cake…

I had their Eggs Benedict for brunch and it was pretty tasty. They serve cinnamon rolls before your food comes out and that was exciting. Their coffee was good as well. Was it incredible? No. I’ll come back though.

Well, yeah… it was ok. Would I give them my first born child? Eh, not really. Service was«ok», I’ve had better. Several tables seated around us were seated after but served before we were. Both of which had larger parties, so it didn’t make sense. The server was very nice but nothing I haven’t seen before. Our dinner started with the Maytag chips. I’m normally a big fan of Maytag chips, but I just didn’t really care for the sauce here. My appetizer was also accompanied by a wedge salad which was very tasty with the right amount of toppings. For dinner, I had the short rub which was a blue plate special. Great flavor and you could basically eat this with just a fork, it was THAT tender. The side was carrots and parsnips which is not terribly common. The carrots were as expected and the parsnips were very crisp and light with a sweet flavor. They paired well with the short ribs which are richer and heavier. The better half had the New York Strip which was so so. The flavor was decent but could have used more salt. The vegetables were enjoyable, crisp and decent flavor, nothing over the moon. All in all it was an $ 80+ dinner, and we walked away asking how. Would I recommend it? Well, I’m fifty fifty I guess. It was good, just seemed a bit overpriced for what we got.

This is one of two Cap City Diner locations in Columbus. It is part of the Cameron Mitchell restaurants that are locally owned. This local chain began more than 20 years ago. This location is situated in a large strip mall shopping center. Although plenty of parking around, the location is quite busy, especially on weekends. I do recommend making reservations on weekends to minimize long waits. I’d describe the interior as a contemporary looking diner with silver plated doors and red vinyl seating. It was pretty noisy inside with all the sounds of families celebrating special occasions and a hustling kitchen staff. Same great menu selections as available at her sister location in Grandview. I love the«comfort» food, especially their meatloaf. Portion sizes are generous. Either come with a hearty appetite or take home what you cannot finish in one seating. A couple of us had their meatloaf and the others had their pecan encrusted pork chops. All enjoyed their meals.
