Champs Bistro

I will never give Champs my business again. I looked up their menu online and saw that they offer deep dish pizza. When I think deep dish, I think Chicago-​style with a tall crust and the sauce on top. I called the restaurant ahead of time to ask if the deep dish pizza was, indeed, Chicago-​style and was told that it was. Excited, I ordered an X-​Large with sausage, pepperoni, and extra cheese.
After waiting for over an hour, the pizza finally arrived. When I opened the box I was disgusted. Not only was it NOT Chicago-​style deep dish, it wasn’t even deep dish at all! It was just a plain, thick crust pizza! Not to mention the revolting amount of grease pooling in the cheese and pepperoni. It took 3 paper towels to sop it all up.
I tried a slice and I can honestly say it did not taste any better than it looked. The sauce was overly sweet, the crust was too chewy, the cheese was rubbery, and the pepperoni was bland.
So, now I am left with a huge pizza that I paid over $ 20 for and that I have no intention of eating. The one good thing I have to say about Champs is that they gave me a refund when I called and complained.

Really the only reason they’re getting a second star is because it’s the only american-​style food place that will deliver east of 71. The delivery time given was 30 – 35 minutes. An hour later, I call the place. Now, if they had said «our apologies, it’s on the way, here’s a couple for a later purchase» — I might have a different opinion. But before I could even get my name out the guy said «it’s on the way on the way on the way have a good night!» *click*. WHAT? You don’t even know which order I’m talking about!
That plus the mediocre food warrants a two-​star. If you have other options, please take them.

This place is a scam. The county jail serves better food. They need to leave and do something else besides making food. They are taking up a valuable location that can be used by someone to make something that tastes good.

A takeout place to head to satisfy late-​night cravings. Very clean place with very friendly and hard-​working, hands-​on owners. If you behave right they’ll even let you sign the walls so that you can leave your own personal touch! Close to North Campus and near The Library bar so extra handy.
