I called last Saturday to confirm availability of an apartment. At that time I told the lady Brooke my move in date and expectations. I called today to confirm at 9 am. She gives me completely different information but insists I pay for and fill out the application without confirming the apartment would be ready in time for my move in date. She said she would call me back and of course she never did. I called to follow up at 4:30 pm. She transfers my call to another rude woman, the manager. This woman tells me it will take 5 days to run my application? FIVE DAYS!!! My current apartments in Grandview Heights took ten minutes. I’ve been renting in Columbus since 2003 and this is the first time I’ve heard of this. What do they need to do – run a DNA sample? Anyhow, it seems this company isn’t interested in filling a vacant apartment to an upstanding citizen with perfect rental history. This company will give you the run around, try to sucker your out of application fees for naught and waste your time! STAY AWAY!

I was very disappointed by the treatment my partner and I received when we moved out. First of all, we provided a timely written notice of our plan to move out and we also left a forwarding address. We THOROUGHLY cleaned the apartment when we moved out (I’m talking about 4 – 5 hours of cleaning…). We did not receive our security deposit or an itemized letter of charges incurred within the time required by law. When we contacted F&W, they scolded us as if we were bad tenants who left the apartment in a deplorable condition. They charged us for carpet cleaning when we had hardwood floors throughout… They charged us for not leaving a toilet plunger (we had our own… why would we leave that behind? why would anyone else want to use someone else’s toilet plunger?), they charged us for not cleaning dirt accumulated underneath the oven… mind you we cleaned the oven itself… but they argued we should have moved the oven into the middle of the kitchen to clean the floor under it… same thing with the fridge… they charged us for permanent stains in the tub which were there because the tub is very old not because we did not clean it…
We had lived there for 4 years, never caused trouble, never missed a rent payment… As you can see I left two positive reviews in the past… I was very surprised by their avarice and dishonesty at the end of our tenancy.

These folks give the rental industry its negative reputation. Crystal Nunnery was the individual I had the misfortune to work with. My specific qualm with her professional conduct and that of the company she represents concerns breaking leases.
I, like many, I think, did not read the textbook of a lease word for word. Shame on me. However, before I signed the lease, I specifically asked multiple times about the rules surrounding breaking the lease. I asked again before I decided to break the lease. Each and every time the answer was, «$ 200». Upon breaking the lease and moving out, the charge is now $ 200 in addition to every month the apartment sits empty. Oh, I am apparently also a liar for stating that this is the first I have heard of the actual policy. Oh, and also, just for kicks, they charged me a painting and cleaning fee, although I left the apartment spotless upon returning the keys.
I am appalled not with the rules, but with the professional and human conduct. I would not have written this negative review had I been correctly informed.
On a side note, I rented at their Roxbury Place Apartments. While the apartment and landscaping are both lovely, the buildings are from the 1950’s and highly, highly inefficient. The windows are single-​pane and actually freeze over from the inside in the winter and the gas stove emits fumes. Although I spent an average of about 7 days out of the month at the apartment, I paid more in utilities than my parents do at their large, suburban home.
In summary, please be forewarned that these individuals have the professional conduct of used cars salesmen and you will pay a ton in utilities.

People are always trying to talk crap about F&W, but I’ve been thrilled with my experience. Very affordable housing, and anytime ANYTHING gets broken, a repairman is at my unit within the hour. My smoke detector was broken on a holiday, and the repairman was there 15 minutes after I filed my online request! When working with the ladies at the office, I will really only deal with Crystal – she definitely knows what she’s talking about, but the other ladies (Sandy and Wanda), not so much.

Although I ended up not renting from them (needed to get out of a bad situation fast), I appreciated the time that the office folks put into showing me a number of apartments. I was interested in studios and one-​bedrooms in the big old building on Broad just across from their rental office, and stopped by a number of times to look at vacancies. Each time, they were great about letting me know what was available, what would be coming available, and showing me the units that were open, even one in the middle of renovation. I’m a little sad I didn’t end up renting from them, since I would have loved to live there and it would have been really convenient to my workplace (I also wanted to get a cat, which are allowed in that building). I will definitely keep them in mind when the time comes to move again.

I’m looking for a space on the east side and my friend recommended I check her place out because she has been there for several years. I was very impressed on the care taken to preserve the vintage building. I currently am looking at several of their other units in other buildings available. will update as I see more

The absolutely worst rental company I have ever worked with. If I could give them 0 stars I would. I lived in Grandview in a one bedroom that was not efficient at all. The windows were so old my bills were super high. They never fixed the broken toilet so I was getting $ 300 water bills. When I called to have it fixed they «showed up and fixed it» yet I got another $ 300 bill. They would not admit any fault and I had to pay the bills. I was yelled at many times over the phone and even hung up on. It’s not worth the lower rent payment. STAY AWAY!!!
