Flavors of India is another of my favorite stops in the North Market. I like it because you get pretty good Indian food, but the prices are becoming more expensive here. Columbus seems to have a lack of Indian restaurants that either have edible food or do not overcharge for it. It’s pretty convenient to go to the counter, and there’s no chance of a deliver driver bringing you a late or messed up order. They also have a good selection of vegetarian items. I really like the vegetable korma, which is creamy and mildly spiced. The side I order most often is the cabbage and peas. It’s pretty good overall as the cabbage was cooked well and tasted good, too. The cost of a vegetable plate is $ 6.99. This is reasonable compared to other Indian restaurants. It’s a bit too much for the size of the plate, though. They should give you more for that. I like this overall because it’s been one of my North Market favorites. It would be nice to receive a little better value, but it seems that’s rare for Indian in Columbus. This is still better priced than many other Indian restaurants, though.

Just tried this one for the first time this evening. Since I don’t know much about Indian food I like the simple menu and being able to see the entrees. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. My food was very good and I will definitely visit again.

For a fast Indian option, this place is great. It’s located in the North Market and is not a sit down restaurant, but it isn’t trying to be either. The leg up that I think this place has over other Indian restaurants is that you can get a few items on a plate, unlike most sit down places which only let you pick one option. I usually get a meat and a vegetable… the lamb curry, chicken curry, and makhni are all great, and I usually get either yogurt curry or chana masala as my side. The naan is just a flatbread, but if you order roti, they make it for you fresh and it’s delicious and the perfect complement. The aloo parathas are also handmade and amazing. It’s quick, it’s delicious, and it’s not too expensive. As the weather cools down, this is where I’ll be fixing my curry craving.

Located at the North Market. Food is served cafeteria style, so everything is prepared ahead and sits until you order it. Simply put. It’s just not good and is definitely the most bland Indian cuisine I have ever eaten. I tried the creamed spinach, cabbage/peas, and green beans/potatoes. As stated, bland lukewarm food that sat for too long. Honestly, it was like eating left-overs.

It smelled delicious – and I couldn’t resist. I definitely had a jones’ing for some Indian food and I decided to try the vegetable curry. This place cured that itch but not 100%. It wasn’t as spicy as I would have liked/am used to. The flavor was decent but could have been a bit bolder. There were plenty of veggies and the na’an was warm and fresh(they only serve plain). I would have liked to have tried a few other curries because walking by was intoxicating and I may have just ordered wrong this time. Hopefully I will be back to give it another go.

This is the best place for Indian food in Columbus. The service is fast and the workers are friendly. I highly recommend trying this place. Chicken Tikka, rice, and naan are amazing!!!

Really bummed. I drove down from Clintonville yesterday to get some lunch and when I arrived home with my meal, my naan was hard(very hard) and my chicken makhani literally had no chicken in it. I’m disappointed that I made a special trip and regret the money spent now.(which, oddly enough the prices seem to have increased as well. I guess I have to find a new go-to now)

My first Indian food experience. I was excited to try something that I had never heard of. Unfortunately the girl behind the counter wasn’t very pleasant about me wanting to try something, so I settled quickly on the chicken curry and rice. A lot of food. I paid about $ 13 for that, a bottle of water, and one piece of pita($ 1). It was pretty good, but I wish it wasn’t so pricey.

I visited Flavors of India for an early lunch on a Saturday morning. I agree with other Unilocalers that the prices were a bit high for some of the entrees, from a takeout stand. I ordered the 2 vegetable special which I thought was a pretty decent deal at $ 6.99. I chose the Channa Masala and Cabbage and Peas, which is served with a healthy serving of Jasmine Rice. I also ordered a side of naan(pita) bread for $ 1.50. The Channa Masala was excellent, with just the right amount of heat and spice. The cabbage and peas were tasty, as well. I would definitely return to Flavors of India.

Out of all the Indian restaurants in Columbus, Flavors in India is definitely worth mentioning when talking about the best. Since it’s located in the North Market, there’s always a line and business stays constant. The workers are nice, willing to give samples to first timers and eager to lend some recommendations if you’re in need. I chose the Chicken Makhni with some okra on the side. I love okra and when it’s combined with some good curry, it’s freaking amazing. The chicken makhni sauce is delicious. They also offer some bread which is perfect if you want to make yourself a nice little curry burrito. They give a good amount so you won’t leave hungry so it’s worth the price. Overall the whole meal is great and if you still have room in your stomach, make sure to grab some dessert from one of the many shops around.

Let me start out by saying that the Indian food here is pretty good. The service is prompt. The dining space within the North Market, while oftentimes overcrowded, is a reasonably clean and a fun place to be. Their rice might be one of the weaker Indian rice in Columbus(it’s overcooked), but their curries are pretty solid. The problem with Flavors of India is their cost. Granted, everything within the North Market is overpriced(except for Lan Viet Market). But $ 12.99 for lamb curry is a little steep for lunch pricing. If it was dinner portion with unlimited jasmine rice refills like you get at most Indian restaurants, then it’d be a good deal. But when you can get all you can eat Indian lunch buffets for about the same price everywhere else, that price for a single serving of curry with no rice refill is tough to swallow. Add to that the extra cost for bottled water and parking at the North Market and you get my flow. If I worked downtown and was really craving Indian food, I suppose I might still pony up the money since the food itself is good. But since I work in the suburbs, should I necessarily go out of my way to drive downtown to get the curry here? Probably not.

I dont have a lot of experience with Indian food and I usually end up ordering the same things because what I’ve had I have liked so much. I wish I knew more people who like and know Indian food to go to eat with so I could learn more and get more adventurous. Any Unilocaled friends who need someone to go with… hit me up. So i had the chicken mahkni(spelling?), this reminds me of chicken tikki masala I’ve had before but are the the same thing with different names? The sauce tasted good but the chicken was dry… luckily I had so much sauce to help with that. It came with jasmine rice… perfectly cooked and yum along with two vegetables. I had the cabbage and peas which were good and the yogurt curry which I loved… I would go back just for that. This plate was $ 11.99 which was expensive for lunch but it was a large portion. and I was able to split it into two meals. They are located in the north market which is always just fun walking around. I got mine to go and took it back to the office to eat. I was glad I keep silverware there because the stuff you get from them is really cheap and flimsy. I thought the food was decent but I only gave them three stars because of the prices and the lack of customer service.

I ate here yesterday after spending the afternoon at the brew festival. Do I think this is the best Indian food I’ve ever had? No. Do I think it was decent? Yeah. Granted, the supposed naan isn’t really naan, but everything else I had(chicken curry, vegetable korma, beans & potatoes) was pretty on point. I do think the price point is a bit high for what you get though.

Yesterday I went to this restaurant to eat 2 aloo parantha. The girl behind the counter asked for card or cash, I gave her my card and she charged me $ 3,98 for them. Suddenly something struck my mind and I remembered the last time I had 2 aloo parantha here an old man behind the counter charged me $ 6.48. I came back home and checked my bank statement just to verify. I took a small portion of pickle(50cents) along with the paranthas which should have cost me around $ 4.48 in total. The man charged me $ 2 extra without any reason, this kind of dishonesty was unexpected. For all you people who love Indian food and go to this restaurant kindly do keep this in mind before purchasing anything from that old man.

Meh. I’m a little bit disappointed. I thought I had found a good Indian option close to my apartment, but I was mistaken. The chicken makhani I ordered was pretty ordinary and one-note. I also thought it was a bit overpriced at $ 10.99. $ 2 dollars extra gave me 2 additional vegetables. I got the vegetable korma and the carrots. The vegetable korma was decent, but the carrots came in sauce that was indistinguishable from the makhani. So overall, the 3 components sort of blended together and not in a good way. I was looking for more variety and contrast between each component. My other gripe was their«naan.» A more accurate description would be flatbread or pita. A bit doughy, thick and soggy as compared to your typical crisp and airy nann. I would not order the bread again. Overall, it’s an okay Indian restaurant. For the price and location in the North Market, I was just expecting more. I’ll probably be back to give it another try.

Overpriced, pitiful portions, and watery curry. Would not recommend. I came for lunch while attending an event in the convention center across the street. I ordered a lamb curry and was given a couple spoonfuls of a really watery curry with only tiny specks of lamb served in a half-full styrofoam box all for $ 11.99. I expected a much fairer portion(and frankly, much better curry) for the price. In addition, the cashier wasn’t very friendly, and didn’t even bother to speak to me in full sentences. I actually came back a year later to give this place another chance and was met with the same tiny portion of thick spicy soup(advertised as curry) and unfriendly service. The taste was actually ok, which earns them 1 star from me. If you’re visiting north market, you’d be happier at any of the other restaurants there.

Is this incredible Indian food? No. Is it good Indian food in a convenient location? Definitely. It’s hard to give a place I frequent 3 stars but there are a few things about Flavors of India that just don’t make it worthy of 4. First of all, the price is way too high… I usually go for lunch and get the entrée with 2 sides and naan. This comes to around $ 12 which I find to be at least $ 3 – 4 too high. We’re not eating gourmet Indian here. You could easily go to Aab and get a 4 star meal for the same price. Next, as it’s previously been pointed out, the«naan» is just a piece of pita bread… definitely not the authentic, crispy, bready amazingness that usually wears the naan name. Now for the good… well, the food is just good. The chicken tikki mahiki is consistently tasty and dumped on top of rice really represents why we like Indian, mixing sauces and flavors. For sides I usually get vegetable korma and potatoes and beans(is this indian?) I have no idea. But really it’s good food, if you’re willing to pay and you’re not in Grandview!

First time trying this place and I really liked the food. I had the chicken tikki makhni(sp?) with cabbage and peas and carrots! Will return again. I liked that I got my lunch quick during the busy time.

They serve warmed pita bread as naan. Repeat: they serve warmed pita bread as naan. That alone should warrant one star. I’ve actually been here three times hoping to get a different result with each visit. I’m writing this review so I can look at it later and remember why I shouldn’t be back. 2 of the 3 times my food was cold. 3 of 3 times the food just wasn’t flavorful. What kind of Indian food doesn’t have some kick or rich flavor to it? I have known other people to visit and get the same results. Anyway, I wouldn’t recommend this place. If you’re in North Market and you want Indian food order something small to help the hunger and then go visit a real Indian restaurant when you find the time.

This place was very good! I abstolutely love Indian food and this is some of the best I’ve had(for being in a market place). I had the Chicken Tikki(sp?), vegetable korma, and the okra. Of course I got the naan too. All of it was delicious and hot! I’ll definately be back to this place! YUM!
