Over the years i feel the prices are now more comparable with Kroger. I of course shop here for the fuel perks. A little disappointed this location does not have an Eagles Nest. Pretty clean, if you come between 430−6pm during the week expect a small line at the checkouts. Of course no Giant Eagle compares to the Market District in Upper Arlington but they still keep this location nice.

How the district training store can have by far the crappiest GetGo for over 3 years, I’ll never understand. Embarrassing for an otherwise solid GE

Very impressed! Large, clean, not madly packed with people. I usually do my weekly shopping at the market district in UA, but I think I may just start doing it here now.

I am in town visiting from Virginia so I do not have a card for this location. From what I saw the store was pretty large and had some very nice prices. What I didn’t like was that they had only two registers open and the lines were long so we had to go through self checkout. Honestly this was the worst self checkout I have ever had to go through. I constantly had to remove and replace my items on the belt. If you don’t do it right it won’t scan any more items. This was after having to wait for an available employee to scan a card for me because I didn’t have one. You can’t check out at the self checkout without one. I gave 3 stars because of the prices and the variety of items but no more because of the difficult checkout process. Being around so many hotels makes it seem like a great place to stop for some items, but it’s difficult without a card.

Alright, I HATE giant eagle, and I really hate this location. There have been too many changes over the years, and the place is terrible. The prices are pretty much always higher then their competitors, and the service is a joke. One of the first things that gets to me is their version of the 10⁄10 deal. Any other grocery store that offers the 10 for 10 idea means you could buy 10 things for $ 10 or 3 things for $ 3. They will break it down. But Giant Eagle? Nope. if you don’t buy 10 items, you get jacked full price. Whatever it was. Just want one drink? Too bad, that’ll be $ 1.65. Secondly, have you tried using the self-checkout lines if you don’t have a Giant Eagle card? You can’t. You straight up can’t. Not that its harder, or you have to jump through hoops, but you CAN“T use them. You can call over a worker who will swipe their card for you as if it’s the end of the world for them to have to make that ten step trip to your line and do it, but you yourself cannot buy food at the self-check lines without one of their cards secretly tracking what you buy. I’m sorry, but I don’t think GE needs to know what I’m buying. They don’t. End of story. Now, why am I so dead-set on the self checks? Because the cashiers here are SLOW! I’ve stood in line for over ten minutes for a single item, when there is only one person ahead of me who doesn’t even have a half-full cart. The cashiers just don’t care. they move at a snails pace. Hey, they’re paid by the hour. The slower they can run people through the fewer people they have to deal with before break time. But it’s ridiculous. I can’t imagine wanting to buy something like ice-cream or raw meat. It’d be melted or rancid before I could pay for it. So sorry, I don’t care how convenient GE’s are. I’m not shopping at them anymore. They’ve gotten lazy and overpriced.

This was maybe my second visit to this location, which isn’t close to home, but is on the way to work. I needed a couple of turkeys so they could defrost in my fridge. I found them and a few other items easily. The cashier went out of her way to make sure I got a discount on both turkeys. I hadn’t even paid attention to the deal, but she was on top of it. She made it two separate transactions and I was able to save $ on both birds. She was fantastic. I thanked her, and also gave her recognition on their online survey(it’s on the receipt).

This place is fine for groceries. The produce isn’t that good, but the meat is better than Kroger. Plus the fuelperks are WAY better than Kroger’s, so I go here. And the prices are on par with everywhere else. The staff isn’t the best. I’ve had several experiences where I’ve waited over 20 minutes to check out, with melting frozen foods just laying on the belt, so I’ve had to time when to go. Morning is best or use self-checkout. There are several Giant Eagle services I’ll never again go here for though. The gas is always much more expensive, so I always fill up at the GE on High, north of campus. I’ll never use this pharmacy again either. They are very, very slow — especially with a sick kid. An hour wait for prescription eye drops you just need to slap a label on, really? I’ll visit the other GE for routine prescriptions and use the Walgreens across the street for emergency meds. They are much more pleasant.

I went to kroger first, its across the street and people were always saying GE is more expensive. Kroger was horrible. we left and went to GE. This location is my fav in the area. The one on high is very crowded and more expensive. if youre in the area, go here. The prices cant be beat and the store is large, with everything you need within reach. However, if you’re in Worthington, go to the Kroger by the Holiday Inn; better prices. I prefer the GE’s meat department though. Kroger doesnt always have what I need.

Good selection, higher prices, and service is so so. I don’t like cashiers being rude to me.

I go to this GE like twice a week. I used to think they were more expensive, but now i guess I’m used to it. And they always have better cuts of meat than the Kroger down the way. It all balances out, and since its convience I’m after I use GE. Its not quite a Carfagnas, But for the bulk of my shopping they get it done, and pleasantly at that.

I go here mainly for the gas perks, overall no cheaper or more expensive than Kroger. I find the salad bar to have a good selection most of time, but frequently the self service section of the Bakery is a mess. The place overall has a better meat selection and is cleaner than my nearest Kroger.

There is a prevailing attitude in Columbus that Kroger is «cheaper» than Giant Eagle. That’s baloney. Maybe certain products are cheaper at Kroger than they are at Giant Eagle, but then again, certain products at Giant Eagle are cheaper than they are at Kroger. To say one store is overall«cheaper» than the other is just falsehood. So, that said, Giant Eagle is superior to Kroger in almost every way I can think of. The deli, bakery and meat departments are all excellent, and the workers in them kind and helpful. There’s a large selection of produce and ethnic foods. The café has lots of tasty premade choices for a quick lunch. Giant Eagle’s Market District line of organic foods is delicious, especially the bottled teas that sell for $ 1 each. Most notably, the aisles are wide and rarely crowded(the opposite is my usual experience at Kroger, which at times is like shopping in a mosh pit). Giant Eagle’s fuel program also stomps Kroger’s. I do all my shopping at GE, and the number of free tanks of gas I’ve earned is well into the double digits, to say nothing of all the partial discounts I’ve gotten. One small criticism(and you’ll probably find this in any store) is that there’s a small selection of items that inexplicably aren’t carried here that are easy to find in other local stores. A few examples: tostadas, Frosted Krispies, ketchup chips, and Mexican Coke. I see one reviewer pointed out the strip club next door. Yes, it’s there, but since when is a strip club a threat to public safety? This isn’t a «bad» part of town by any stretch of the imagination. This is a city and there are strip clubs, get over it. Besides, you’d only notice it if you parked on the east side of the building, in a section of the parking lot that’s never used.

I’m going to kncock a star off because I can never find anything in this store. If it’s not in the produce dept, or fish, I can’t find it. I come here because they have GREAT bread and rolls and you can buy just one or two. I also think their deli is better than Kroger’s and almost as good as Carfagna’s. I occasionally even eat lunch here. They have good soup sometimes.
