Lineage is a brewery, bar, and restaurant. We are on a quest to always create the ever perfect pint of craft beer and offer an ever-​changing variety of beer styles and food offerings in our brew pub. We hope you enjoy the inquisitive and explorative approach to craft beer that Lineage Brewing brings to the Columbus beer scene. And in doing so, we hope that you try something unlike anything you’ve had before.

History

Established in 2015.

Lineage Brewing® is a brewery and bar and was founded with a simple purpose: create a welcoming, social pub where friends can gather and learn about high-​quality craft beer and enjoy simple yet delicious food. Like many great discoveries, it was founded in neighborhood Clintonville garages, where home brew flowed and hops grew up backyard trellises. When creativity, aspirations, and equipment got a little too large for our tiny garages the inevitable craft brewery and restaurant was born. We continue to be grounded in family, friends, beer education, and the quest for the ever perfect pint of craft beer.

Business Owner

Jessica has a brewing business certification from the Siebel Institute and manages all business and marketing aspects of the brewery. Using her illustration and marketing background she plans for Lineage to support local artists, local business, and the community. She’s judged several home brew competitions and also serves as beer taster (aka quality control) at Lineage Brewing, one of the best jobs on site.

Pros: Board games and atmosphere! Great Groupon deal.
Cons: Service, after the bartender cursed at us and threw us a towel for spilling a beer, it was difficult to enjoy ourselves. I really wanted to like this place, but was completely put off by the way the bartender treated us. (Felt like he resented us for using a Groupon)
I might try this place again, but avoid that bartender all together.

The food was good, however, a bit over priced. The beer is really good, but service is lacking. We stood at the bar for probably 5 minutes before someone decided to serve us and it wasn’t that busy. The Groupon deal was fantastic!

Been back a few times, and they’ve won me over! Grapefruit IPA is top notch, and their English Mild (The Utah?) is my go-​to for easy drinking. Go check it out!

Over the past year, Lineage has become my favorite spot in Clintonville! Such an awesome addition to the area!
I love the constant rotation of different styles and flavors of beers and am always excited to try something new. You cannot beat 6 (generous) samples for $ 10! The staff is super friendly, the Bacon Spread appetizer is perfect, and the atmosphere is lovely. The best!!!

Atmosphere– Open large casual space with a touch of warmth with the materials that they used (a lot of wood).
Service– A. The employees are consistently kind and helpful.
Food– the hand pies are good, try their flight and sample their beer. My current favorite is the ombrés noir, a black saison with 6%.

Pros:
Beers were great! Awesome vibe in this place. It’s nice to have something like Lineage in Clintonville!
Cons:
I ordered two pies (one for me and one for my partner)
and chips w/​dip
The food experience was uninspired. The pies seemed as if they were microwaved and the chips/​dip were out of a bag and jar.
I definitely recommend this place if you’re going out for drinks, but not so much for food.

First time here tonight; it was on our «to try» list for awhile now.
I will say that this is some solid beer. We had a sampler which we usually do the first time at any brewery. I enjoyed everything we tried except for one, but that is ok.
I liked the smooth quality of the beers here. The beer was easy to drink. You can tell that it took some time to perfect this beer and the brew master knows their stuff!
We did not eat here but they do have a small menu. The food sounded good, might try next time.
The building and atmosphere here was cool. I like the open brew room behind the bar. It feels like they designed it to really just focus on the beer and I like that.
Also they have a fun selection of board games to play!

I love the atmosphere in this bar. On a Friday night it’s busy but not so packed full of people that you can’t find a seat or move around. They’ve got a great little outdoor patio and another open air bar area in addition to the inside space. The staff is helpful (without making you feel stupid if you don’t happen to know much about beer) and quick! They have a great selection as well a few snacks and salads to munch on.
It seems like it’s always been this quintessential Clintonville brewery even though its relatively new.

This place is so well thought out. Their décor and presentation is great. Menu is not large, but what they have is prepared so well and is yummy. Their beer flights are great. Love the Eldrax. They also have wine and some interesting cocktails.

I love Lineage. Their Eldrax Foreign Extra Stout is probably my favorite stout. It’s just fantastic. Like if chocolate were made into beer. It’s smooth, not too sweet, and always good.
I love the atmosphere, the flights are great, the hand pies are tasty, there’s just no bad.

Stopped here as part of the Columbus Ale trail and were pleasantly surprised.
Great space! especially in nice weather when they open the doors or you can sit on the patio.
Beers were really tasty! We got a flight and we really enjoyed Benrath & Allume the best. However their IPAs were also nice.
We snacked on a few hand pies that were delicious & flaky. the Hannoi bahn mi is a must try.
We’ll definitely be back!

I really like this brewery.
I can bike to it from Powell. It’s open air with huge bay doors. They have fucking hand pies that are… just delicious. Limited food menu + decent brews = definite win.
The bartenders have always been nice, whether I just biked 12 miles and probably look like a drowned rat, or I drove in with a hutch on the back of my car, or walked over from a friend’s place.
Everything about this place, to me, screams «win.»

Lineage Brewing is a welcome addition to Clintonville. Such a cool space, set up for enjoyment indoors or out. Located at the end of a little commercial strip near Kelso and High, there is plenty of parking and lots of other businesses nearby. A large commercial bay door opens to the south side of the building, and there is patio seating out front — or sit at the bar, or at one of the other indoor tables. The staff were friendly and the other drinkers were too — or were at least keeping their beer-​snobbery on the DL.
Tip: stop over at Aladdin’s, Lavash, or La Patrona beforehand. There were «hand pies» and an arugula salad offered for food on Lineage’s board last night, but you’re gonna need food in your belly for this beer!
Sampler of beers? For $ 11? Okay, gotta try everything out — or spend $ 12 each trying to figure what we like. We figured one sampler, then we’d each get a full pour of our favorites. Oops. Their samplers (seven total mini glasses — and would have been eight if they still had their Scottish in) are huge! The two of us had to peck away at that thing for quite a while. I liked their American pale ale (Spaceship #6) and their IPA (Mr. Manager) a lot, as well as their saison (Allume). However, after that — we had to split our overall fave, Mr. Manager — because that sampler packed quite a punch! Highly recommend the sampler. And Lineage Brewing in general.

Great place to gather with friends for drinks. The hand pies aren’t greasy and seem to have quality ingredients. I prefer the hanoi banh mi to the bombay samosa.
Service was good. They only come by the tables to drop off hand pies and clear off glasses so expect to make trips to the bar. They do have some wine, mixed drinks and rambling house soda on the menu.
They close around 10pm on weeknights but do come by each table to announce last call and let you get your last order in before they close.

Cool space and cold brew
I had been anxiously awaiting the arrival of Lineage in Clintonville. The location is pretty great since you don’t have to battle the traffic and parking situation like downtown/​Arena District/​Short North.
Inside was a little packed, which is a good thing since they are the new kids on the block. There are lots of different seating/​standing options. They have a bar area and then a nice open space with long tables. The bar area is a little congested with everyone ordering there. Make some friends and cozy up to the table.
I was quite impressed by the minimalist décor. With hanging lamps, wood paneling on the walls, variety of wooden tables and chairs, chalkboard menu, the place has some character. The side of the building is a garage door that opens up creating a patio-​like atmosphere. The warmer spring weather was perfect to get the full experience.
As for the most important part, the beer is key. I tried the Bricky Briffon (British Pale). It was fantastic packing lots of flavor in a light, easily drinkable beer. Initially, I wasn’t sure what to order. Many people were ordering beer flights — next time!
Overall, it is definitely worth a visit for some good beer, good atmosphere, and good times. It’s all good to me.

Strong start for a new brewery. The space is light and airy with tons of natural light pouring in through the windows. There’s a cool herringbone pattern made of 2x4s on the wall. Behind the bar, there are several windows through which you can see into the brewery, which makes for interesting scenery. It was a little too chilly, but I noticed there is a patio, which will be nice in the summer.
When I stopped in, there were four beers available, the first four they had brewed. The Berliner was surprisingly good. Light and tart. Would be great outside on a summer day. The English bitter was biscuity and delicious. The cream ale was just okay. Not bad, but I wouldn’t go out of my way for it. The coconut porter, was a little disappointing to me. Overall, I like that they have a few underrepresented styles of beer, and so far they’ve done a pretty nice job with them. Like every brewery in town, they will improve, and I look forward to trying them again once they have their formulas down.

I expected to be cynical when I visited yet another brewery opening in Cbus. But Lineage showed its worth!
Like Landgrant, I think Lineage shines by marrying a great space in a convenient location with unique, unexpected beers. I’m all for IPAs, but its refreshing to find a porter and cream ale featured. Nice work
The seating is comfortable, the parking is plentiful. I think this spot will be fantastic in the summer when the open-​air features can be put to use.

The space at Lineage is very cool. The atmosphere is cool and chic, but very inviting.
Now I understand the purpose of their taproom is to serve their beer, but they need a better selection. Maybe once it’s open for a while longer they’ll serve some other brands or cocktails. They only had 3 options for cocktails (all over $ 9) and when I asked for a simple gin and tonic (a gin-​based cocktail was one of the menu options) they said they couldn’t make it. Hopefully they were just out of limes or something.
Now onto the beer– the sour mash was really pretty bad. I won’t be ordering that again. But the British Pale Ale was awesome! Very smooth and drinkable. I’ll definitely be ordering it again.
No report on the food just yet but it looked pretty good at other tables.

Yea!!! Welcome to Clintonville :):) So happy you have moved in!
I got the flight and I enjoyed them all. They all had points about them that I enjoyed. Even the sour one was enjoyable. I think that would go great on a nice summer day.
Loved the industrial décor and all the light that shines in. We sat on stools by the garage door, not open, and with the sun shining in and all the light it felt warm and like we were outside. Too cold on this particular day for them to have it opened.
I didn’t try any of the hand pies but they looked good and the people that were eating them seemed to enjoy them.
The only complaint I have is that when we got the flight there was no explanation as to what was what. But that was minor.
I’m just glad they are open and in Clintonville!

I feel like this is just what Clintonville needs! Lineage has a nice relaxed atmosphere, which I love. Plenty of seating for now, but being that it is a fairly unique spot, I can see it getting pretty packed during the summer months– they have a patio area out front, and the side has a garage door that opens up to let the fresh air in.
Technically, their opening date is April 1, but they were hopping tonight. We tried a flight of the three beers they have on tap so far: a Porter, aged with coconuts; a cream ale; and an English pale ale. I couldn’t decide which I liked the most. It’s a nice departure from the overly hopped beers that have dominated the Columbus microbrew scene for so long. I ended up going with a pint of the cream ale– so drinkable and refreshing. They also have Rambling House soda on tap!
We didn’t try any of the hand pies tonight, though they all sounded (and smelled) amazing. There were plenty of orders coming out.
The service (though very friendly) has some kinks to work out, but I’m not too terribly worried about it. For instance, each time an order came out, the server went to each table asking if they ordered the food. Like I said, I’m sure they will figure it out.
All in all, I’m a fan, and I’ll be back soon.
