If you want an excellent Chicago style hot dog, Loops is the place to go! Seriously, they don’t make’em any better than this.
On my visit, I picked up three different dogs — the Chili Cheese, Chicago and a ‘Kraut. They were all pretty good but the one that stood out most was — you guessed it! The Chicago.
The person making the dogs was very friendly, and their service was fast. They give you the choice of having your dog charred or boiled, ’cause it’s good to have options!
I will be a returning customer.

Was craving Greek food and found this spot not too far from my apartment. Ordered to-​go and food was ready in under 10 mins. Dude working the counter was friendly. Ok here’s what I got:
Classic gyro– meat was super tasty especially the crispy ends. Pita was nice and fluffy. Overall temp was a little cold because of the mound of lettuce on top. Also had tons of tzatziki sauce, almost too much.
Falafel– pretty solid falafel, could’ve had more spice. Comes with your choice of sauce
Gyro rolls– best part of the meal. Definitely try these. I ordered the spicy variety which comes with a spicy tzatziki sauce.

The first time I went here I got a polish sandwich. It was bland and the textures were unappetizing.
I gave it the benefit of the doubt and went there today (it’s one of my bfs favorite places). Disappointed again! I had the classic chicken gyro. The chicken had an awful grainy texture and tasted stale. They overloaded the whole pita with lettuce, tomatoes, too much onion, and enough tastiki sauce to make the pita a wet mess.
(The boyfriend recommends the feta fire– I think it’s gross too)
If you want a GOOD and cheaper gyro go down the road to Greek Express. Chicken gyro is fresh and has just the right amount of LTO.

Awesome food, quick service. For a place so good, it’s a surprise they aren’t busier.

Stopped in Loops one Sunday after catching a matinée over at the AMC. I had noted that they had a food truck at the Whitehall Food Truck Festival the day before and, unfortunately, I hadn’t been able to run by even though the menu looked quite good. So, when my Unilocal app pulled up Loops as being in the neighborhood, I made a beeline straight over.
After careful study of many reviews on different sites, it seemed to me that the most raved about menu selections were the gourmet dogs, the fries, the gyro rolls, and the FetaFire grilled pita. First I ordered the Chicago Fire Dog along with the Loops Dog and a side of fries. The Fire Dog was pretty interesting. A made in-​house gourmet «fire» slaw piled high over a grilled dog and some sport peppers. A mouthful and not bad at all. The Loops Dog was your basic Chicago hot dog, celery salt, pickle, tomato, etc. It was good too. And, finally, the fries were intriguing. I don’t know what they season the french fries with after they deep fry them, but it added just a touch of something extra and made them so much better. Very unique and worth returning for.
When I was finished, I ordered the FetaFire and gyro rolls to go and took them home. Several hours later, I had second dinner and, though cooled to room temperature, the pita sandwich was really very very good. Oh my gosh, I loved it. The gyro rolls, on the other hand wasn’t great cooled, so I reheated them on warm roll setting in the microwave and (voila!) suddenly those weren’t bad either.
After a day of eating nothing but Loops, I confidently rate the items in this order:
1. The FetaFire Grilled Pita roll
2. The fries
3. The Gryo Rolls
4. The Loops Dog
5. The Chicago Fire Dog
I would give five stars, but Loops wasn’t perfect. The condiments station was understocked and the lady behind the counter wasn’t all that friendly. She’s was kind of intimidating actually, lol.
But, all in all, I definitely plan to return. FetaFire and fries, please. Good food.

No parking available when I went during lunch so I parked across the street. Went with the traditional gyro. Downer they do not accept Am Ex. Waited about 15 minutes for order, pretty long wait time but it’s a small place.
The gyro was a nice size. I should have left off the lettuce as its overwhelming. It was pretty good. I probably should have went with the hot dog. It was just ok. Not sure I’d return for a second visit.

After moving to Columbus from Chicago I’ve had people suggesting places to get a good hot dog. None of them have ever mentioned this place and I’m here to tell you this is the best place to get a Chicago style dog in central Ohio.
I finally was able to try this place out after driving past it so many times. You walk in and you are engulfed by Chicago and Columbus pride.
The prices here aren’t bad at all. 2.75 for a hot dog? Awesome. 7 bucks for a beef? Not too bad.
I tried their beef and regular fries. My significant other got a Chicago dog with fries.
The Italian beef was good. I asked for it wet and sure enough I got it wet. The au jus was decent and beef itself was very delicious and moist. However I wish they didn’t toast the hoagie. It would have absorbed all that au jus and would have given it much more flavor it could have had.
I tried the hot dog and it was actually very good. I was a little thrown off by the diced tomatoes instead of the sliced tomatoes but whatever. Tomato is a tomato. If anybody has ever been to Portillo’s in Chicago I have to say this is on their level. It has all the ingredients to be a Chicago dog. Poppy seed bun and all.
The real winner at this place however were the fries. They had a nice crunch to them and a soft inside. Seasoned with herbs and grated cheese. These were delicious.
I can definitely say this place is well worth a try. If you’re interested in trying a Chicago style dog I highly recommend coming here.

We chose loops based on reputation and its kid friendliness. It did not disappoint. The flat bread for my gyro was soft and chewy, the chicken was tender and juicy and the hotziki, was a nice touch.
The kids were both fans of their hotdogs and fries.
My wife and I split an order of fetafire fries which we both thought were great accompaniments to the gyros.
I would gladly return.

What! This food truck is amazingggggg! I got the Italian beef oh my! Their French fries are so good! We hope they come back to HSB again! A+

I usually come here for lunch occasionally, The food is great, the staff is very nice. and the hot dogs don’t «snap»! (I prefer non snapping hot dogs)
Definitely worth a try if you’ve been thinking about it. Very clean establishment, and great food!

Excited to try this place after experiencing their gyro at the Columbus Food Truck Festival. But it appears the Food Festival was their best foot forward and the physical location needs to catch up.
Clark Street: There was too much going on in this gyro. All the onions and peppers drowned out the quality of the chicken and gyro. I enjoyed the huge chunks of chicken (when I could see them) as the meat was tender and had good flavor.
FetaFire Fries: These are good and wish I could have these once a week. The feta appeared to be crumbled and cooked into the fries but the cold tomatoes took away from what could be an awesome product.
Could I have gotten my order from the Food Truck Festival and ordered a gyro wrap without all the other toppings?

Pretty dissapointed that this place is rated 4 stars. I have eaten here quite a bit, and didn’t realize how average it is until I ate at the new-​ish Greek joint at fifth and Kenny. That place is way better and less expensive.
Worth trying out when you get bored of lunch places in Grandview, but let’s not go overboard and give this place 4 stars. This is why Unilocal is more reliable in bigger cities with more options. Sorry to sound like a jerk, but this is true.

I love Loops. I probably get it every few months or so and have maybe only had a bad meal once. The problem I run into is I always want everything on the menu and order too much food.
This time I tried the Lake Street BBQ chicken pita, and it was awesome. Their BBQ sauce is amazing, and the fries are so good.
I also had a Loops Dog, which is basically a Chicago style dog, and it was great too.
If you haven’t been to Loops, check it out. You’re bound to find something on the menu you’ll enjoy.

I think this would have been great if my gyro wasn’t 20% onions. I’m not sure but I thought gyros typically came with lettuce and feta. I ordered the Titan gyro, listed as a traditional Beef gyro. I liked the beef, sauce and tomatoes, and the pita was soft. But no lettuce or feta? I guess I need to request it next time. Other than that, service was quick and prices were good.

Just so I’m clear — this is not a BAD three star review. When I say that Loops is «OK», I really mean it — they’re OK. I just haven’t had a ton of experience yet.
So far I’ve been in twice — both times when I needed something fairly quick — I ordered a chicago dog, some fries, I got my order, and I hit the road.
The dogs themselves? Not bad — between the poppy bun, the Vienna beef dog, and that neon green relish, I could close my eyes and easily pretend I was getting something from a cart on on the Golden Mile. The whole place is decorated to almost look like a subway stand — right down to the tiled walls and inlaid signs.
Sometime soon, I ought to try the gyros, the salads, or anything that requires me to actually sit down for a meal — but in the meantime, they remain a great choice for something quick, cheap, and tasty.

This place doesn’t disappoint!
Although I wouldn’t rank it as the ‘best’ gyro in town, they do a hell of a job impressing me with their wild and adventurous takes on the standard gyro. They offer daily specials ranging from different gyros to chili dogs as well.
I love the lake st BBQ which is a gyro topped with fries, slaw, and special veggies slathered in a delicious BBQ sauce. Like I said, it’s not your typical gyro joint which is what I like about the place. The gyro rolls are a cute little take on a gyro snacker meal. The fries are your standard Mediterranean shop fries, never disappointing.
I like coming here and trying the different takes on gyros.

We finally made it to Loops today! I was excited to give it a shot.
I ordered a loops dog and fetafire fries. My boyfriend ordered a loops dog and a chili cheese dog.
I thought all of the options were pretty tasty. I did have a bit of heartburn afterwards but admittedly, still worth it!
My couple of small complaints would be that the food took a while to come out (disproportionately to the other customer that was there’s food, I thought), and I saw someone blow their nose on a napkin behind the counter and go back to preparing food. It looked like he went to the back room and did something, so I’m hoping that was washing his hands. He wasn’t preparing our food personally, so I didn’t have any qualms about our food in particular, but it still didn’t look great.
Overall, I would give them another try, but I don’t see us going here regularly. My boyfriend wanted to try a gyro and I wanted to try a polish. We’ll see how that visit goes!

Really great falafel and chicken lemon rice soup!
We went on a Sunday afternoon, surprisingly there was no line. The staff was very helpful, and extremely nice. I got the falafel with tzatziki sauce and soup, my friend got a gyro. They both were the best we had eaten for years! The meats were cooked perfectly, and the small fried patties in my falafel were not heavy at all. The soup was creamy and filling, the side-​sized bowl I got was enough for a small meal on its own.
It’s named for The Loop neighborhood in Chicago, and the décor includes clocks on the wall so you can see what time it is in Chicago and a few other places.
I’d recommend this place for really fresh, great food and the friendly staff.

Loops deserves an update. Working across the street. I’ve had the opportunity to give Loops a few more tries since my first venture and they have made me a fan!
I have a few favorites now. The Loops Nachos (sans olives). I love the deep fried pita with the (lets be real people) gyro style taco salad. Seriously good. Then there’s my next fav the Kronos wrap, which is the chicken and gyro with onions, mushrooms, and provalone. The mix just works. I love the fresh taste of the chicken and sauted mushrooms with the gyro meat. It really works. Then my number one, the Jackson St. wrap, which is chicken with hummus, feta, and fresh cucumber. It’s a great combo of flavors and the fresh cold cucumbers go great with the hummus, feta, and fresh grilled flavorful chicken.
Of course, I still avoid the fire feta dip and tatziki, but the hotziki seems to work. I have also avoided their buffalo flavored items as it just makes me nervous to think buffalo with gyro. IDK! I’ve also has their Chili dog charred and Chicago dog steamed. Both were good, but I really don’t know what a good Chicago dog is. Their chili is above average for a quick service place.
Every time I go, the staff is friendly and the food is fresh and fast (and yummy).
