Large number of a given item(kit with hose for water heater) were clearly displayed and advertised for a given price($ 8,xx). During the check out the cashier informed that the price was $ 24,xx, and even though I stated that the price on display was different, then the aforementioned cashier simply indicated that he would only take price scanned and that otherwise I would have to go to the aisle and then take a pic of the item and price displayed which really was obnoxious(I am engineer and I certainly do not work for Lowes as one of their minimum wage employees). Then he called the plumbing department and they called him back reinforcing the idea that they went to the aisle and checked the price as being $ 24,xx. Already disgusted with the whole situation and waste of time, I went with the cashier to the aisle and pointed out to him that the price was clearly $ 8,xx on display; and in yet another devious, dis-considerate, obtuse tactic he simply stated that price was obviously mistakenly placed there(I can not recount how many times I found item in other stores [ especially at Menards for a fraction of the price seen at Lowes ]). At the very end, having been wrong not only once but twice(on occasion of marking the price, and then during their own price check), they still refused to match their own price as advertised by themselves. It seems that they really lack even the most basic sense of decency in the context of their price policy. And the way they deal with the whole matter is really obnoxious. I wish there was a Homedepot nearby; and since I spent over $ 1000 dollars per month in home improvement material, the idea of spending even another dime at this Lowes is really disgusting and distraught to say the least. Homedepot should consider opening a store nearby this area. There are folks within a higher income bracket who would be delighted in shopping at homedepot instead of lowes.

My first house, we just bought. We’re new to this whole thing, and it seems half the staff is new to house items or never owned a home. After the runaround to find and locate a few items, I went to see if my roll of insulation was in that I had ordered. Special order, and had to Pre-Pay. They said it’d arrive in about a week and they’d call. It was there, 2 weeks later after I had to call. The box says it’s been there days. Customer service(pregnant high school girl?) was curt and said to the person on the phone that she couldn’t go get the item from Holding, and he didn’t seem as if he wanted to get it either. Break time? After 15 minutes more on a 45-minute tour, I finally got the item. And I still couldn’t leave. The EXIT door is blocked. Had to walk all the way around again to get to another door. If I would’ve forgotten I had ordered something, I would’ve been out of $ 50, as I’m unsure if they were ever going to call. Will try Home Depot to see if they can help ignorant first-time home-owners like my wife and I.

What can I say– this is your basic Lowe’s store. I’ve got some issues with Lowe’s these days with the whole American Muslim debacle but all in all it is nice to have a big box hardware store on the South Side. Parking out the yinyang and basically everything that Lowe’s carry everywhere else. I would rather spend my money locally and tend to shop at the Ace down the street in Hungarian Village a bit more even though it is a little more expensive, usually. However for big big ticket items like fencing, plywood, etc., we go to this store-unless we trek all the way to Lancaster to Menards. Sometimes the staff at this Lowe’s is knowledgeable and sometimes not. I tend to look for the older employees for help, they seem to know more than the kids. Sometimes there are killer deals here, you have to really look for them in the discount bins or discount tagged items(esp. in the Garden section).
