Mix 97.1

I was wondering what makes these 97.1 «celebrity» employees so special they can illegally park in the Kroger brewers yard parking lot and walk right into the radio station building? Yes Beau «douche» Bishop I’m talking to you, getting out of your black car with a sunroof walking around 3 cars to pretend you were going to kroger to only walk into the radio station… lol… You’re horrible on the radio as well.

I dislike 99% of the music played on Mix 97.1, bands like Nickelback, Saving Jane, and the Plain White Ts. They play the songs over and over. If it’s a current hit, you’re likely to hear it once an hour.
However, Mix is the only station that my old, shoddy bathroom radio picks up. So, in the mornings, I listen to Charly and Kate banter back and forth between songs. The DJs aren’t so bad. They have good radio voices. They are very professional and easy to listen to. They even cover fun, funny, and interesting topics. Plus, they give away tons of freebies, and their contests are fun to listen to and play along with.
I am still wondering what happened to Alan Kabel and Matt. Last year, when I started listening, the show was called The Alan Kabel show with Kate Burdett. Matt was kind of a sidekick who didn’t even get his name in the title. Then, Kabel disappeared without a word, and it became The Morning Show with Kate and Matt. THEN, they started doing promos for The New Morning Show with Charly and Kate, all while poor Matt was still part of the broadcast! Matt soon disappeared, once again, no explanation.
Kate is a bit whiny and annoying at times. The conversation always used to turn to her dating life, or lack of one. Then she got a dog, and that was the main topic. Now she has a boyfriend, The Bowler, and he’s always being discussed. I feel bad for the guy. It seems like Kate looks for ways to get him in trouble. But, that’s another story.
Every once in a while, if I’m stuck in traffic and CD101 and 106.7 are both on commercial, I’ll switch to Mix 97.1 to avoid losing my mind — I hate feeling trapped in traffic. Anyway, Mix has a drive-​home segment called the Big, Hairy Question with Mark Dantzer. The questions usually pretty good, and the answers are even better. I knew the answer to a Big Hairy Question once and was going to call in, but the prize wasn’t worthwhile. Here’s an example of a past question: 2,000 people worldwide become injured while doing what in the kitchen. The answer?: prying frozen food apart. If I didn’t exist, that number would be 1,999.

I consider myself a pop culture/​pop music addict and this station gives provides me with my hits. Literally. haha. I am definitely a music lover in general and listen to a bit of everything but if you were to get into my car, this is likely the station to be playing. I love the mix of music (nice middle ground between Sunny 95 light music and WNCI). The morning team seems to change up every few months which is a bit weird but I guess they’re trying to find the right combination. The dj’s are great and seem very normal and nice.
I am definitely a fan. but if they play that song ‘Paralyzer’ one more time, I think I may scream. And reconsider this review. :)
