History

Established in 1975.

Dr. Kowan graduated from Miami University of Ohio in 1965 and went on to earn his four year degree in Dentistry in 1969 from the Ohio State University School of Dentistry. He then joined the Armed Forces serving four years active duty in the Army Dental Corp at Fort Benning with a general practice internship. He then joined the Army reserves as the officer in charge of his dental unit at Fort Benning while he also served two years as a the dentist for the indigent children of Columbus and Lumpkin, Georgia (Office of Economic Opportunity). Dr. Kowan decided to settle in Columbus, Ga. and opened his private practice of Dentistry in 1975 and has been serving Columbus ever since.

In 1990 Dr. Kowan, while seving in the Army Reserves, was called to active duty for Desert Storm in Iraq and closed his office for one year while serving his country. He was his dental unit’s laison officer to Fort Benning and was responsibe for 110 personnel for pay and housing. He received the «Army Commendation Medal» for his efforts. Dr. Kowan returned to his practice in 1991. Dr. Kowan is married to Michelle and has a son, a daughter, and two grandchildren. He is a member of the Georgia Dental Association, Ameican Dental Association, The Academy of General Dentistry, and member of the RiverTown Study club which is a higher degree of continuing education emphasizing implants and cosmetic dentistry. Dr, Kowan’s philosophy is that honosty and a healthy life style will lead one to longevity and success. He prides himself on seving his patients and promising to solve his patients’ problems with a team approach utilizing his own experience and/​or that of specialists
