I’m pretty late writing this review as the last time that I’ve eaten here was about a month ago. However, this place sits in a neghborhood that some people may be skeptical about, but please dont let that deter you away. I’ve been here a handful a times and I always go when they have their wing special(Mon & Wed .59 wings) Their wings are absolutely delicious and they sprinkle this white dusting on top. I truly believe that the white dusting is crack because I can never stop eating them. I also orderd some fried okra but I wasn’t impressed at all. In fact, they were horrible. They were very bland as they had no seasoning and whatever breading they use isn’t tasty whatsoever. I thought that maybe I went on a bad night so I ordered them again… nope, still disgusting. I’ll just stick to the wings from now on.

Good fish and chicken, one of my favorite places to go! last night I seem to have had bad food from this place. I had the pizza puff and fries… Food poisoning! So now I am feeling tarnished about the restaurant!

Great food. Had the whole wings. Place seems a little sketchy but you’ll love the food. Next time Ima try the Jamaican patties.

Every now and again, you run into a place whose food exceeds your expectations and makes you disregard any of their other shortcomings. This is that type of place. Nestled in what some would consider not«the best» neighborhood, Royal Fish & Chicken has undoubtedly the best fried seafood that I’ve had since moving here to Columbus from Louisiana. And back home, we take our seafood seriously! All plates are made to order with a wonderful«secret» seasoning sprinkled abundantly throughout that makes the entire meal AMAZING! A 5-star establishment this is not but, eating here will definitely make you feel like ROYALTY!

«The crack(dust) that brings you back»! It’s definitely not the friendly customer service that warrants repeat visits, but you can over look that when you open your plate and see that precious and magically seasoned dust liberally sprinkled over your food! Royal Fish & Chicken is one of those classic hole in the wall spots that most snooty-nosed people would not dare venture into; what a shame ’cause they’re truly missing out. As the name indicates they’re best known for their fish and chicken, but the menu has so much more to offer like Gyros and pizza puffs. Plenty of cake and other dessert selections too to satisfy your sweet tooth! The chicken wings have been my staple order since I was introduced to them, and an extra container of that magical seasoning always makes it to the house to tide me over until the next fix!

I had to try this place cus my good friend and elite Unilocaler, LJW, gave five stars. He did not let me down! The fried chicken wings are top notch. I have to repeat him, the seasoning they put on it has got to have crack in it. So good! They even sell the seasoning for $ 1 if u wanna enjoy it at home. One of the best chicken wings places in the 614! Thanks London!

Came with a coworker on a business trip. Good selection consisting of fried fish, shrimp, wings, Gyros, burgers and more! The breeding was corn meal based. We both had the tilapia and wings combo and both items were very tasty. Some of the best fried chicken and fried fish I have had in a long time. Not very greasy at all and very tender. The froes were just okay and left me wishing I had tried the coke slaw! The tarter, cocktail and hot sauce were all served in packets this my score of four stars. With a stop if you are craving fried food.

TOP5 Wings in Columbus. I refer to this place as Crack Chicken. They sprinkle some type of white seasoning over the wings that gives the wings soooo much flavor. It’s in a bad neighborhood so beware. But if you are able to get past the bad scene I guarantee you’ll enjoy the wings. Wings 1−5=5.

Yummy! I love their chicken wings. First of all they are whole wings not wing dings and on Mon. & Weds. they are 50 cents. My husband like to get their fish sandwich. The cakes look good but they are dry. The sweet potatoe pie decent. They sprinkle a seasoning over the food. I think it is a greek seasoning and it’s really tasty. I’m going for lunch today!

Not much going on in the food scene here in Milo-Grogan unless it’s fried; check out the Chicken District at E 5th& Cleveland: Popeye’s, Church’s, and soon Buckeye Chicken(IIRC) going in where the Rally’s was. Sadly, despite being the first animal listed in the name of this take out joint there was no whale to be found anywhere on the menu and believe me, I checked. Similar to other E 5th establishments you have security cameras and bulletproof windows between you and the employees. My friends and I got combos which gets you a generous portion of your choice of fish, etc with fries, and a couple of slices of Wonder Bread. You can get packets of hot sauce, ketchup, tartar sauce, etc. The fries are limp and not their strong point. I got whiting and I should have found beforehand that they’re bottom feeders. No thank you. Luckily, I was able to sample some fried perch and that improved my opinion of the place. Last time I passed by recently the place looked dark and no one was parked there, so hopefully they’re still open: the neighborhood can use some restaurants. If not, check out the new chicken place and let us know how it stacks up against the competition.

I drove by Whale Fish a number of times and noted its somehow comical big blue sign near the road before i ever stopped in to get a bite. The place must’ve been the victim of some hold-ups, because the security at Whale Fish is more what you’d expect from an armored car than a fish and wings joint. Thick, presumably bulletproof glass covers the entire service counter, closed circuit cameras connect to monitors that face out at you from behind the glass so you can watch yourself waiting for your food and trying not to look too worried. Ah, but the payoff is fine indeed. I ordered the deep fried perch with cole slaw and bread, and the quality of the fish coupled with the flavor of the fry batter launched the meal right up there with the best of what’s available near Lake Erie. Instead of high-tailing it over to Long John Silver’s, try Whale Fish sometime when you’re in the mood for good homestyle fried fish.
