Wright-Patt Credit Union

Absolutely furious with my credit union (Wright Patt). I was approved for a personal loan which they retracted 3 days later for fear of non payment. Mind you, I have TWO different auto loans through them that I have always paid a little extra on, one which is $ 800 from being paid off, and I’ve never been late or missed a payment. So too, the underwriters who for some reason are afraid I won’t pay my payments, you made a shitty business decision, and I’ll be refinancing at PNC because you don’t deserve my money. And believe me, everyone I know will know of your idiocy

Literally the worst bank for a business that I have ever used. Don’t get sucked in by the candy and free coffee. Don’t try and get a ten dollar bill here because THEY DONT HAE THEM!!! Even for business accounts. Don’t try and get money quickly here. They will point you to an interactive ATM that is akin to waiting on hold with Time Warner customer service. And if they don’t have someone to talk to you which is a frequent occurrence you have to wait until a rep frees up to get money. Don’t try and pay a bill bigger than $ 1500 per day. Even if you are a business because your debit card will get declined. Also if you need coins for your business you they have to get it out of your account, because they won’t accept cash… That’s right they don’t accept cash… At a bank…
Worst bank ever!

Friendly, comprehensive service with a personal touch, not to mention great perks!
I had been considering moving my accounts to a non-​profit credit union ever since the financial crisis, but I really liked the bank branch I lived next too, and I felt they gave me really great service. Welp, after I stopped putting my direct deposit in my checking, they cut out all the perks I was used to getting.
Free checks? Gone.
ATM fee reimbursement? Byeee.
ATM surcharges on top of the fees? Come on in!
That gave me the push I needed to close my accounts there and scope out a credit union. I researched a lot of credit unions in Columbus, and Wright-​Patt seemed like the best cumulative option. If you keep a reasonable amount of money in your accounts, they give you free checks every year as well as 6 non-​WPCU ATM uses every month without surcharges. Yay! I stopped in to open my accounts, and two very friendly employees greeted me and helped me open my accounts. I was very impressed with the layout of the member center. They had interesting artwork featuring photographs of the Columbus area, and the consulation rooms were very high-​tech, with a large screen on the wall so you can navigate the paperwork with the employee. Ashley was exceedingly friendly and helpful, and she even sent me a hand-​written card in the mail!
Instead of tellers, they have ATM-​like machines, which you use to video-​chat with an off-​site employee to do anything you would do with an on-​site teller. They even have a machine that can make your debit card at the member center! They have two drive-​through banking lanes that I’m guessing are similar to the video interface inside the bank, as well as a drive-​through ATM.
I’ve been excitedly following all the development on Third in conjunction with the development of Grandview Yard, and this credit union is worth the wait! I’m excited to be a new member here, and with another location on Lane as well as plans for opening member centers in Clintonville and the Short North, it will only get more convenient!
