Guard Training Center was founded by a former U. S Marine, Staff Sergeant, Embassy Duty, Infantry, former Police Officer, and Criminal Justice Instructor.

Based in his experiences, it was his vision to develop a vocational institution for security and criminal justice professionals.

Rafael is a wonderful instruction. Got hands on training that in critical areas that will be very useful on the job. Great thing is that there is good support for help in finding you a job. Also help filling out the government forms is great because it would have taken me a long time to figure it out. If you want to get a guard card quickly and land a job quickly in security, I highly recommend this place. I was able to pass the test on first try with the training I received. Doing a live training here gives you insight that is hard to come by with a internet only course.

Been going to this place for my certifications for a few yrs now. They’ve always been accommodating with questions I have. Considering that it took a minute to find the new location, but is all good. Won’t go to any other place for my certifications.

I attended the guard card class today, I had to get a guard card and I didn’t know where to go, or how to get one. I called many places but all were super expensive and far. I finally got a hold of this place and from the moment I spoke with them on the phone I knew this was the place I should attend. The lady was super friendly and explained everything to me step by step. They send you email reminders for your appointment, along with a text that same day reminding you. I was convinced and the price was way cheaper than the other locations I called.
You show up at 8:30am to fill out paperwork etc, Class starts at 9. Once class starts they show a video following a small test, you go over your answers after. You watch a couple more videos, do your life scan, head out to lunch, come back and watch more videos and your dismissed. Your out no later than 2:30
Toward the end of class the instructor shows you how to check the status of your guard card online, he also gives you a paper with instructions. The end of the class he gives you a small packet. The front of the packet is a thank you letter, basically thanking us for receiving our training with them. The next page is your copy showing that you completed the class. You also recieve your certificate stating that you completed everything needed. The last page is online power points in case you wanted to learn more things.
Overall I really enjoyed coming here, they take care of you and really do care about you. They will tell you if you have any problems to call them, if not they send you a email in a month following up with you. The instructor is super chill, and the lady in the front desk is super friendly. I would most definitely come back if I need to, and I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to get a guard card, or take the criminal justice program.

Been to this place a few times for different reasons here are my experiences.
First, went over to this place when it was still on Olympic to get a livescan. Being that I work with kids I’ve gone to a few places before and know the process. This place is fairly quick I was in and out in a few minutes. Service was good I was helped by a girl named Jade.
My second time I took the CPR class again, its not the first time I do this so I know the drill. Certification is provided by Red Cross. Price, class time and instructor were fine I’ll probably renew here when its time. Passed by the new office on Washington and looks like a way better location than before. Wasn’t too fond of previous location due to alley and cramped parking but new location appears to be more roomy. The only downside was that it took a while to get my CPR as it comes directly from Red Cross I’ve had this problem with other businesses when I’ve taken the class so I know its not just this facility.
Sad to see this place has negative reviews since I can’t really complain. The boyfriend will be giving this place a shot soon for his guard card. I’m hoping this will be another good experience. I will write another review after he finishes the class.

I can only speak for the computer course they now have. Do NOT waste your time or money on this business. The instructor does not teach. Students are told to memorize the answers to test questions, get certified, get the job, and then learn on the job. While part of that idea is good, it’s also very deceiving to prospective employers. This is also not a course for someone who has any working knowledge of computers.

About. Damn. Time.
That’s how long it takes the Guard Training Center (GTC) to process a refund. Like any good business, they’re keen to accept most conventional forms of electronic/​online payment, but the kicker is getting a refund. First they were dopes to schedule a class over a holiday weekend, then bigger dopes to email me two days in advance that the class was cancelled (and told them to give me a refund then and there).
Six emails, four phone calls and six weeks to process a refund? Fail.
Might take the TASER course if they offer it again, but it’ll be the last course I’ll take at the GTC because I have every other certification/​training they offer anyway.
Oh, update… they don’t do that «hogan’s alley» electronic range nonsense anymore (well, not according to their promotional emails they send me on occasion). CA BSIS requires live-​fire certification… so you gotta shoot a real gun, with real bullets.
