For 27 years, Compton Jr. Posse (CJP), a non-profit org, has provided a year round leadership program which uses equine science and horse related activities, to inspire 1000’s of at risk youth to reach their personal, academic and career goals. CJP’s award-winning program has given at risk youth a framework for success by teaming them with horses and highly skilled instructors such as Olympic Gold Medalist Will Simpson. CJP accomplishments include: 2009 established the 1st inner city equestrian team, 2010 Park. Ranger Career Prep Program, 2011 received Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness Silver Medal. History
Established in 1988.
Using Equine Science and horse related activities, the CJP has developed youth into productive members of society and is committed to improving the quality of life for them by providing the tools, skills and resources needed to enter college, earn a degree/certificate, and enter the workforce. CJP programs are aligned with the Common Core Standards that addresses science, reading, writing, and math. Each student is trained in husbandry (anatomy, physiology, life cycles, ecology) and the complete care and handling of horses.

Manager
CJP Founder was born and raised here in the South Bay and has been involved with horses since childhood. She majored in math at Narbonne High School; earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology, with emphasis in childhood education from Loyola Marymount University of Los Angeles, held a CBEST certification, and has received a certificate in Animal Husbandry from the College of the Canyons. She is a Real Estate Broker, licensed in real estate since 1974. and successfully operates her own business.
