A & J Fencing

We had our fence replaced in Oakley, CA because the home building company did a terrible job and placed top soil above the concreted posts.
Emile and Luis were in charge of my fence installation. They did a phenomenal job! They were professional and efficient while completing the job too. We had a line of fence and a gate installed, and the completed project is beautiful. I would strongly recommend them to anyone considering having fence work done.

Called them last week after reading a lot of reviews and was told someone would be out Monday between 12 and 1pm to give me an estimate to replace my 103ft fence that is seriously failing. Finally at 2:30 I called to see what’s up and got voice mail. Asked to have someone call back as I really need to get my fence fixed. Nothing! Nice work AJ Fencing. That is not really good business practice unless you are so popular you don’t care. Going to find someone else.

It was time to replace our 30 year old fence. It was falling apart. Had 3 different companies come by and provide a quote. We picked A&J Fencing to do the job. They were a little higher than the others but our neighbor next block over had their fence replaced by A& J Fencing and highly recommended them.
Wifey of course, had different type of fence (surprise surprise) installed and results were amazing. Wifey very happy. That’s all that matters.
Install crew were quick but detailed oriented. Very impressed. Highly recommend them.
I do have a couple of things that were minor and needs to be mentioned.
— Inform us that PG&E and another company (not sure who they were) will be at our house identifying and marking gas, electrical and TV lines. At first, we thought there was a suspicious person in our neighborhood. We asked him what he was doing. I had to call A&J Fencing to confirm. We should have been informed after confirming start of construction date.
— Inform us we have to sign and return quote when we are given the start of construction date, not the day before the start date. We may be busy at work or what if we were on the road? I felt like one day notice to sign should and could have been avoided.
Again, minor issues the well offset the great job with the new fence.

A&J Fencing did an awesome job installing my backyard fence. Luis and his crew were extremely professional and courteous! They were also very careful with my existing plants on the fence line and left the site immaculate! This is the second time I’ve used them and will happily use them again when my last fence that boarders my property wears out!

Straight as an arrow. Wood quality is much better than Home Depot. Elmer and his crew did great work.

The were not interested in providing an estimate for installing a deluxe style gate with arbor and to add fencing to the side of the house. She said something about a fifty foot minimum, I said I don’t think it is fifty feet, however I still need to project done. She said they would not come out and give an estimate. Totally frustrating, The person that answered the phone have poor customer service skills to say something like that.

We have used A & J fencing to do many projects over the years and they do outstanding work. The crews are very polite, courteous and work is completed to the highest of standards. They keep the job site very organized and clean. When they complete projects they always make sure we are completely satisfied. Their finished product is always amazing.
I wish there were more stars to give!
They have very creative ideas and solutions on how to construct fences, gates, pergolas and decks with attention to details. When A & J fence bids our projects it is always very reasonable.
A & J is great about fitting us in to their busy schedule and when they set a date they show up.
The materials they use are always high quality, sturdy and *gorgeous*!! We really couldn’t be happier! If you have any fence, gate, pergola or deck work that needs doing, you really must contact them! A & J fencing is fantastic!!!

Helmer and his crew did a great job on our new fence. Looks great and only took them 6 hours to complete the job. Looking forward to having same company come out to stain next week.

Elmer and Jose and their team were great. Replaced a portion of fence quickly and efficiently.

Excellent workmanship. First rate materials. A&J fencing and their crew, Ernie and Luis, delivered a first class redwood fence and two foot high retaining wall for our backyard. It is solid.

Luis, Alfredo, and crew were prompt, efficient, and neat. When questions came up, they sought us out and gave suggestions when we asked for their opinions. In the 5 ½ hours it took to complete the fence, they didn’t take a break. They were thorough and quick in finishing the job and cleaning up. Great Job!
We were also very pleased with Jerry, who came to measure and give us an estimate. He answered all our questions and quickly emailed the estimate later that day. The office staff was also pleasant and efficient when we called with questions. Very pleased!

Took the day off work to get an estimate, as previously scheduled by their secretary only to be left waiting all day with no show.
These cowboys wasted my day, did not have the decency to call.
Real characters here. You really want people with no consideration of your time working on your property?
Stay away from these jokers.

Luis and Elmer were the foreman on our job. They were on time, cleaned up as their team went along and the fence is ART!!! And they did all this in the pouring rain. Thank you you so much guys! The staff; Brie, Rowena and Stacey were the best.

Three years ago A & J Fencing rebuilt a long section of fence between our neighbors home and ours. They did a magnificent job and all of their employees were professional.
Well a month and a half ago another section failed between on of our other neighbors and ours. What do we do? Call A&J of course! Their Project Manager Corey McClellan came out, gave us an estimate on the spot. No pressure but straight forward and a terrific price. My neighbor Gary and I chose to go with A&J again. Today they removed the old fencing, replaced the fence in 6 hours, cleaned up their mess and left us a great new redwood fence.
I can’t say enough about Cory and A & J’s crew. Their professionalism and quality of work is exceptional. If you need a new fence give them a call, ask for Corey. You won’t be sorry.

We had two crews knock out our 80′ fence in two days. Jose and Jose, the two crew leads, we’re great to work with. They were efficient and kept me in the loop as unexpected things (roots, sprinkler lines) were encountered. Great job on cleanup as well.

Justin L and I made contact during early Autumn and he came out to look at the work done previously, said it was unsatisactory and set up a date to replace the gate. Work was finished at the end of October. Work was done in a timely manner and the crew also left the area clean. Communication with Justin was very good. One issue I still have is the bottom of the gate boards slope down slightly and is about ½″ off being level but another Team Mgr (Jim) who came out to inspect said that’s just the way they do it so I’ll learn to live with it. The rest of the gate is fine and they put a locking latch, which is nice.
Before they replaced the gate, Justin honored a previous estimate for another section of gate and since they replaced fencing with us previously and the work was done well, they went ahead and replaced another section of fence. It turned out nice and the crew left the area clean when they left.

Just had A&J Fencing replace a nearly the entire fence on my property, including three different gates.
The team was here early and there were 5 crews in all, who worked solidly throughout the day to get the job done with minimal disruption.
Not only was the job done quickly, but the quality of the work was excellent. In addition, all of the workers were courteous and cleaned up after themselves.
I’ll update this review in a few weeks once they return to put the stain/​seal on the fence and add a few final photos at that time.

A & J installed a new fence at my house on, Friday June 19^th. This was not a good experience unfortunately. Here is a list of the pros and cons of our experience with A & J Fencing. I will be adding pictures to back up my review.
Pros:
1. The fence looks sturdy and was done quickly. Somehow it’s much shorter than the previous fence. But this is a shared fence and we allowed the neighbor to accept the bid measurements. So, I can’t technically hold A & J responsible.
Cons:
1. Disrespectful of others time: no show on one appointment and late to the reschedule by 30 minutes, same day
2. Once they showed up, the fence was completed quickly. However, a large mess was left behind. This company showed absolutely no respect for our yard and how they left the area after the work was finished. There was concrete on the grass, concrete on the patio, nails and bits of metal everywhere, string, empty water bottles… a previous reviewer pointed this fact out, and I am totally agreeing with it. The faster they work, the worse the mess. They don’t seem to care how they leave your property afterward.
3. We have plants growing along the fence. Not ideal of course, but when planted we had no idea the fence would be replaced. We asked that they take caution which of course they «couldn’t guarantee». I can see why. The plants took a beating. We had wrapped them in yellow streamers to remind them to leave the plants alone. That streamer was ripped up and everywhere when I arrived.
4. Finally… and for me by far the worst, was the fact that they used our water to clean their equipment. I didn’t see the contract so maybe that’s part of it. But when I got home, there was water everywhere all over the patio. We are in a drought and being rationed. And I find this misuse of our water so, so bad. I took pictures of the wet ground. Also, they used our sprayer and broke it leaving it in pieces on the ground.
The homeowner and our neighbors are older, and didn’t realize you could get reviews online about companies before hiring them. I should’ve been more proactive and helped them when they were choosing a company to work with. A fence isn’t something you replace often. So maybe that’s why A & J doesn’t take the time to be respectful and clean up after themselves. But I cannot recommend this company to anyone because of it.
