Atlas Tree Service just saved our home and our neighbor’s home from further damage after a GIGANTIC pepper tree had 3 HUGE rotted limbs collapse last night. To give you an idea of the dimensions, the base of the pepper tree is about 9 – 10 feet in diameter and the failed limbs each 3 feet across. The first one fell all the way to the ground and took the neighbor’s power line with it. This occurred at 9 PM on a Saturday night. PG&E came out and said there was nothing they could do until the risk of the remaining 2(hanging high above the home like like the sword of Damocles) could be secured and the debris could be cleared away. I ran an extension cord over to them for the night… and we all held our breath as 2 more limbs slowly collapsed a little at a time snapping and groaning during the wee hours until they finally came to rest on the roof of our home at 3AM. We had called another tree service that supposedly has ²⁴⁄₇ emergency service… they never even called back. By 8 AM Sunday morning, we decided we had better call another service. Atlas called us back immediately, and said they would be out within the hour to assess the situation. Steven Duncan arrived promptly as promised, He’s a Certified Arborist who is qualified for Tree Risk Assessment. We gave the go-​ahead, and Steven got to work right away rounding up a crew and vehicles. By 10 AM Sunday morning they were at work clearing the threats and debris. I can’t say enough good things about the competent way the whole crew worked together to prevent the collapsed limbs from doing any damage. These limbs were 30−36″ in diameter and both were resting on the roof of our home. The Atlas workers carefully and expertly used their crane to support them as they cut them up and safely deposited the pieces in their truck for disposal. If all this wasn’t enough, the tree was home to some very large bee colonies. It was the bees which prevented and delayed the trimming previously. The fearless Atlas worker who performed the aerial portion of the work completed his tasks with bees buzzing all around him for 3 hours. Cudos to this man for placing himself in extreme peril to save our homes! When the last of the limbs were removed, we could really get a good look at how little damage was ultimately done to both homes, It leaves me shaking my head in amazement. I give my strongest and highest review possible to Steven and his crew! I wish I could give them 10 stars… they deserve it!

Responsible and easy to talk to people. Always keep their word. Great pricing (their estimate for a 80-​ft redwood removal was significantly lower than three other companies I tried)! Great execution of the job: clean, on time and — most importantly — safe.
My estimator was Raul — did his job completely autonomously, called me back, discussed the technicalities. The crew leader for the job was Luis — competent and seasoned professional, his team worked like a well oiled machine.

Received quotes from three different companies and Atlas provided the lowest bid. They did a good job removing two trees and trimming a third. However, I took away two stars because their communication about scheduling and rescheduling was poor. I had to call them a few times to confirm dates and the job stretched over a couple of weeks.

Oh boy, we had a huge Modesto ash tree fall from our front yard onto our house last week. We were in shock; nobody was hurt and the dogs were ok. Atlas tree service arrived within hours and spoke to us in detail how thy can help. Early the next day the team showed up, carefully and promptly cut up the tree and trimmed the damaged tree that was next to it. They cleaned the area until it was spotless. They explained in clear detail how it happened and what to avoid in the future. A terrific crew, we would not hesitate to call them again.

We needed some branches cut off the oak tree hanging over our house (bedroom). Called three tree service companies, including two that advertised arborists. All were friendly, professional and provided price quotes quickly. It’s somewhat difficult to make decisions for services about which we have little experience. Each company basically said they would do the same thing; cut back here, take weight off the tree there. They all would clean up and haul debris away.
Researched Unilocal and other web sites; decided to go with 5 star rated Atlas Tree Service. Very, very happy we did. Great communication, professional staff at every level, quick, efficient, spotless clean-​up. Used a «cherry picker» to come over the top of our house to the back to do the work. They were in and out in about an hour. They have been in business for decades, have the equipment and knowhow to do the job right. There was about a $ 200 spread in the bids and Atlas was the lowest. Completely satisfied.

Great company. Came out for a quote within a day or two, reasonably priced, nice crew and done fast. I had one stump removed within an hour. I hope to use them going forward with any tree issues. It’s nice to see a company just do the work with no drama. Thank you!

These guys were outstanding, courteous and clean and professional. Removal of 4 trees, stumps and debris. They were also the most reasonable priced!

Atlas is amazing!!! They really responded quickly to a dead, swaying tree very close to my house! I was really afraid of the tree falling on my home. 30 foot tall deodora… they were in and out in 40 minutes and cleaned up immaculately! What an amazing crew and customer service! Very reasonably priced!!!

Certified Arborists Steve and Lois were very easy to work with and the job was done right the first time as per our quote. The City came out and took a look and said they did «a great job».

My experience was such that I wouldn’t call them again, but they DID get the job done. In detail:
–Calling the office and talking to the people on the phone was a bit disconcerting. The woman I spoke to initially claimed to be the owner’s daughter and was a little too chatty and unprofessional. She actually asked me my sun sign and age over the phone. Who does that?!
–She also gave me a number to call for USA or something like that, a service that will flag your gas lines. But in getting through to USA they informed me they need the contractor, NOT the homeowner, to make the request, so I had to call Atlas back and explain. A bit weird. She should have known that.
–The guy who showed up to do the job rang my doorbell and didn’t introduce himself or say much of anything. This is a business, and I expect professionalism. When a single woman answers the door, what is the etiquette? Say, «Hi I’m _​_​_​, and I’m here for the stump grinding job. Here’s my card.» (Then hand card.) So that too was weird.
–The job got done and for a price I felt was reasonable. It was grinding out a large stump I could never have tackled on my own with large and heavy equipment.
So, I appreciated having the job done and at the time specified, but the lack of professionalism and manners I found offputting. Not at the top of my call list for the next landscaping gig.

Stay away from this business! I paid over $ 1000 to have some trees pruned, removed and grinded. The team they sent over was completely unprofessional and their supervisor was a very young man who didn’t even know the names of my trees, wasn’t professional, and didn’t have any control over his crew. Worst of all, the job was incomplete. When I called to complain the office said that they had a fire and needed the crew to go put it out. That’s fine, but they never came back! I called three times and asked to speak to the owner but he was conveniently never in the office and never called me back. I was left to pay another company to come back and do the work over again.
This company over charged me and never even completed the work! There are many honest companies out there and this isn’t one of them.

They no call no show for my appointment on Thursday. The arborist called me on Friday and said that he didn’t come out because it was an awkward time for him.
He wanted to know if he could come out that afternoon.
No, idiot. I already took time off from work once. You definitely won’t get a second chance at my business.

Atlas Tree Service was very responsive when I called to get an estimate to remove a tree that had fallen and other tree pruning. The estimate was reasonable and the crew was scheduled to do the work timely. The crew was on time, did a great job on the tree removal and pruning and they cleaned the area thoroughly, leaving my yard looking incredible.

I purchased a short-​sale that has a massive Chinese Elm tree for a residential property which has never been pruned before — at least 80’x120’. I called Atlas and an Arborist came out quickly to take a look at the Elm along with other trees. Even though this tree was massive and a crane couldn’t go in there, this was no problem for them. He knew exactly which branches to take out to keep the tree looking good and healthy.
Crew came promptly on D-​day and was very professional. The tree was so big, the crew had to work on two properties — I was impressed as well as my neighbors. Stump removal looks good too for the other trees.
I will use them again in the near future.

Best tree service provider around! They came with a team of professionals who were precise, listened to our needs/​concerns, and overall delivered a thorough service. They trimmed 3 trees of ours that were overgrown and tangled and did all the clean up. I really liked that they listened to our special requests and handled the job very professionally.

My cat was stuck in a tree for 2 ½ days and my husband and I could not get it out. We called Atlas tree service and they sent someone out within 2 hours on the Sunday after the thanksgiving holiday. The young man, Daniel, who came out was professional and quick. He climbed the tree and put our kitty in a pillowcase to bring her down. The old oak he climbed went straight up and had very few branches. We could not have saved our cat without him. The price was reasonable and less than half of what another company was going to charge. I would definitely use them again.

I had a massive tree trunk and four smaller tree trunks removed form my house in Walnut Creek. I had numerous quotes given ranging from $ 550 to $ 1400. They came in the lowest price and were rewarded the job. The work took longer than expected, but all in all, was done right! I would recommend them for a good value. Deborah, their customer service agent was exceptional.

We recently had an excellent experience with Atlas. They were one of four companies we had out to quote the trimming of the redwood tree in our backyard. They were not the cheapest, but by far presented us with the best experience. Their arborist was able to come out and do the quote quickly, he clearly knew what he was talking about and really took a no-​nonsense approach to the situation. In other words, there were no «extras.» The highest quote we got was FIVE times Atlas’.
Out of the four companies, they were the only one to call after the quote and see if we were interested in moving forward with the work. I went ahead and made an appointment with them. The crew came as expected (even a little bit early) and did not require me to be there for the service. I showed them the tree and then left to take my kids to school. When I returned home, they were gone. They had done an excellent job and left no trace of the debris. They left our backyard even cleaner than they found it.
And the best part is that they did all this without any payment or securing credit card. In fact, I just called them today (almost a week after service) to offer them my payment. From start to finish, this was an excellent experience, so rare in its ease, thoroughness, and quality.

We’ve called Atlas to tend to our trees on several occasions. From trimming to removal of trees both large and small, they’ve done a good job and on the few occasions where something went amiss, they’ve worked to correct it quickly and fairly. The office staff is friendly, curious and connected to what is going on in the field which is a bonus.
Most recently, they came by – during a severe windstorm — to fell a large eucalyptus tree which was about to come out one way or the other. They had a crew on-​site in a little over an hour from my call and they secured the tree from falling (removing the most dangerous limbs) and returned the next day to finish the job.
The quick response and very personable service carries this from a 4-​star to a 5-​star review.

We hired Atlas to remove a tree which had split in two and fallen in our back yard, onto our patio. They were the lowest bid, but after removing most ot the tree the owner Bill knocked on my door and demanded $ 500 more to complete the job. He claimed he didn’t know we wanted all of the tree removed. I reluctantly agreed to pay him, despite the fact that we had explained the scope of the work clearly at bid time, because I needed all of the tree gone, not just some of it. Also, the workers topped the standing part of the tree and let the top fall onto a smaller tree, smashing it. That tree will never be the same. We had hired Atlas to remove two trees several years ago and were satisfied then, but we will never hire Atlas again based on this most recent experience.
