Carpet One

The one star is only because without it I can’t post a review. I can’t believe this place has 3 ½ stars.
We had a water damage claim with our insurance company and they referred us to Carpet One in Concord. We were promptly contacted by Ryan who came out to our house to asses the repairs and get samples of the materials that would be replaced. In turn, Ryan sends these samples to a company in Florida that analyzes the material and comes up with a dollar amount for the value of the damage material. This is where the problem starts… Ryan puts together a proposal for our insurance company (based on the findings from the company in Florida), which is all great. The problem is Ryan knows the exact dollar amount the insurance company is offering us.
So we go into Ryan’s store to select our replacement flooring (carpet, wood and tile). We found the products we’d like and Ryan says he’ll put together a proposal for us. We receive the proposal from Ryan and guess what… it’s for the exact dollar amount our insurance company is offering us. This is strange because we selected products that were much cheaper then the ones we were replacing. In addition, Ryan’s proposal didn’t include any line item pricing, just the total for the job. I in turn asked Ryan for another proposal and to include pricing on all material and services offered. It took a couple of days to get that from him but we did get it. We were shocked to see what Ryan had done to the pricing… he marked up everything over 25% in order to reach the total dollar amount our insurance company was offering us. I called Ryan out on this and he said «this is how we always do it». I told Ryan I wasn’t going to play games with him and I’d be requesting the check from my insurance company and that if he wanted an opportunity to earn our business he could submit another proposal. If you ever want to see a grown man panic tell Ryan you’re getting the check from your insurance company and you’re getting additional bids for the work. Ryan tried and tried to talk me out of getting the check… I realized once I have the money I have the power and Ryan knows that and was trying to avoid it.
Needless to say, we never heard back from him. So we got a couple bids from other companies on the exact same product and job scope and both were over 25% cheaper. This is a 30K dollar job so we’re not talking about chump change, this was several thousand dollars.
We got the job completed by a great honest company and couldn’t be happier.
If you’re reading this and working with Carpet One through an insurance claim you need to do two things. 1) get the money from your insurance company first… you can pay the vendors directly. Money is power. 2) get multiple bids. Don’t just settle for who your insurance company recommends.
To you Mr Ryan — you are a dishonest and deceitful man. I believe what you’re doing is insurance fraud and you’ve been reported.
Karma is a powerful thing, I like to believe people like you will get what they deserve.

in 2012, I had my flooring replaced through Farmers Insurance and Carpet One was recommended by Farmers… the installation was great. However, fast forward to 2015 where the laminate in the kitchen was destroyed by a leak in the waterline of my refrigerator, and once again the flooring has to be replaced.
I call Phil from Carpet One to inquire about his firm replacing the laminate, or installing ceramic tile in the kitchen. Phil came out in early September and measured the kitchen area and stated he would be unable to match the existing laminate, and would give me an estimate to submit to the insurance company. This has been two months next week, and no estimate. I have called no less than 3 times to inquire about the estimates and each time I was told, «I am behind on writing estimates, give me another week»; and still no return calls and no estimates.
I would have better respect if I was told that he isn’t interested in performing the work rather than continue to give me false promises. Now it’s been two months and it has shown me that Carpet One is unreliable and this is poor customer service.
The flooring debacle in 2012, ended with my family being out of our home for Christmas, and I don’t want a repeat of that episode so I am moving on. I wouldn’t recommend this firm if you want work done in a timely manner. Phil and Carpet One doesn’t have to worry about my business!

Very disappointed with the service by Carpet 1 in Concord. Horrible at returning phone calls. Made a tile repair of a small entry way. Used a new install subcontractor, who did a poor job. Now they won’t return and fix the defective grout lines or restretch the carpet to meet the new tile. They promise a call back from their «scheduler» but he doesn’t call. I would not recommend and will never use them again.

After a horrible experience at OMEGA FLOORS, we tried Carpet One. The owner was quite knowledgable and aware of our needs. The sale sticker was expired because he forgot to pull it, but he still gave us the sale price. The flooring was delievered as promised and is excellent quality.

¹⁰⁄₈ final update: after many emails, hemming & hawing (love that expression) & lots of excuses they FINALLY sent us our check. «on the way» was a complete lie. it was being held hostage because of my Unilocal review. nice.
UPDATE: it’s 2 months after the job ended & they still have not sent us $ 400 owed to us. we have been told several times that «the check is on the way»

first have to say, the work we had done by Carpet One was through an insurance claim, not sure if/​how that affects their work quality or customer service???
they redid the flooring throughout our house: vinyl in the kitchen & laundry room, carpet in one small room, and hardwood (some replacement, but mostly resanding & refinishing) for the rest of the floor
we were on a VERY tight schedule, juggling multiple
contractors/​vendors. we were up front with our «drop dead» dates &
Carpet One pretty much ignored them. they brought in workers to do the
kitchen & laundry room before we were ready (we had packers/​movers
there), then the hardwood took longer then they told us & the
carpet was also done late (when we already had painters there). the
delays in the work threw off everything & we were left scrambling to
reschedule the painters, movers… and my husband even had to MISS OUR
FAMILY VACATION.
Ryan was responsive in the beginning – he came by our house to show us
samples, was very reassuring when my hubby was freaking out about the
multiple vendors & processes– he was obviously in sales mode– but
once he got the insurance money (mid-​job), he ignored multiple calls &
emails. we had a portion of the insurance money come to us that we
had to turn around & pay to Carpet One– he HOUNDED us for that check,
even though the work had not been completed.
although we really appreciate that Carpet One was willing to work with
us to include replacing carpeting in the study & an upgrade to our
baseboards (they pretty much INSISTED on the better baseboards) by
downgrading some other elements to stay within budget, they then
wanted to be cheap about finishing the baseboards. they did not want
to do any prep work before painting– there were gaps where caulking
should have been done, obvious nail holes & shoddy patch/​spot
painting. If we had known they were going to do the work half-​assed,
we would have just stuck with our old baseboards.
for the carpeted room, they put carpet in the closet (where they had
been none before) which made it impossible to open a cabinet inside.
we had to take time off work AGAIN to schedule YET ANOTHER visit so
they could fix it.
in the kitchen, there was an area where the vinyl was bubbling from day one. we were were assured that the bubbling would go away & if it did not, they would come by to fix it, no problem. we gave it some time to settle & the bubble just kept getting bigger. we called Ryan several times– he kept saying things like «oh, I called the vinyl guy, but I have not heard back» & «I’ll get back to you tomorrow» EMPTY PROMISES. my husband finally got the number of the vinyl guy & called him directly– it took 2 calls over 3 days & the floor was repaired. huh.
they also left a bunch of materials behind that we had to dispose of
ourselves.
to be fair, the vinyl, carpet & wood floors do look good. but at what cost? Phil, the owner, personally called to try to «make it right” — but the bottom line is the work was not done right the first time, nor was it done in the promised time frame. it was a straightforward job, nothing unusual came up… so I am not sure why this turned into such an ordeal!

I contacted Carpet One at the end of March to look into getting new carpet and flooring for my house. Phil came out and was very helpful in planning and picking out my future flooring. I paid in full for carpet, flooring and installation at the beginning of April. Phil told me to expect a call within 2 weeks to schedule the install. Four weeks later I called Carpet One for an update and spoke with Phil. He seemed rushed or distracted and told me that the flooring portion of my order was back ordered and he would get back to me. I waited another month and called again. This time I spoke to a woman who went to check in the warehouse to see if my order was in yet. She told me the flooring we were waiting for had just arrived that morning and would I like Phil to call me? I responded ‘I’m sure Phil will be calling me soon to schedule my install since my flooring is here, just tell him I called.’ Another month passes. I call again and talk to Phil who schedules my install for the following week. The day of the install 2 workers show up and start the install, take a 1.5 hour lunch at noon and are joined by 3 other guys around 2:30. The job was finished around 9:30PM, 13 hours after it was started.
To wrap it up, dealing with Phil in the sales phase was very pleasant. He is very knowledgeable and helpful picking out colors and planning the install. They get 2 stars instead of one because of Phil in the sales phase. After they got my money the customer service vanished and I had to call them to get updates and schedule my install. The installation itself took much longer than I thought it would for a 1400 square foot home. I will not use Carpet One again nor will I recommend them to a friend.

My experience with Carpet One of Concord goes back more than 25 years. Phil, the owner of the store installed flooring in my business in 1986. He since, has done many other installs for me both in my home and businesses. His extensive knowledge of all types of flooring as well as artistic abilities makes all the difference compared to the big box stores. You immediately recognize that he has many years in the flooring industry. I was so glad that he offered suggestions in the type of flooring and the most ideal product that would best suit my needs. For your viewing pleasure he has an impressive in-​store selection. Both his integrity and honesty are the paramount reason that I have continued to use him and refer him to my friends. Both doing and carrying out what you said you would do means everything to me, as well as no surprises.

When I moved into my current office, I needed to change the flooring in one of my rooms from carpeted to hard wood (or at least the look and feel of hardwood). I already had a Contractor who was doing my remodel, so all I needed was the material.
I had known Gary at Carpet One from a past flooring deal and I so I knew he would be able to give me all the information, samples, best prices, etc. I am so glad I called him because he brought over several samples of laminate flooring and he took the time to educate me about what laminate is, how durable it is and what the different features are.
I realized that I wanted to the most realistic looking one he brought over and was worried about the cost, but he said he would «take care of me.» He called back the next day with a quote that was far lower than I was expecting and he said he knew just who to call to get the best deal.
He has been working in this industry for many, many years and his experience really shows. If you need someone to give you great customer service in the Concord area, you can’t go wrong at Carpet One.

We were referred to them for a water damaged floor caused by our refrigerator by Farmers Ins. We ordered a oak hardwood floor. End result was a fabulous floor throughout the home. Their crew was very accomodating & clean. There were a few issues during the installation as a board that was too light after they installed the whole kitchen. My wife & I said this is not going to work for us. No hassle, they replaced it. After the job was done, a week later I noted a chip on a board and a board that looked like it had a bubble blemish after you looked at it with the light reflection in the living room. Not pleased with it we called Gary our rep. No problem, will send someone out to look at it in a couple days. Two days later they came out and replaced the 2 boards. 1 ½ months later, I am not pleased with our hallway as it seemed like there was an air bubble under the floor as you walked on it. I had thought it might go away over time but it did not. Called Gary again and he said his crew would be available the next thursday. Sure enough, they came out and replaced the whole section, No charge just wanting complete satisfaction. I cannot say enough for them as you just cannot find reputable companys very often that are willing to stand by their work without giving you a hassle or making you feel guilty. End result, we today have a perfect floor.

Our purchasing experience with Carpet One Concord was fantastic. Our home was flooded and my insurance company gave me a list of flooring companies that I could choose. Carpet One showed up same day I called for an interview. They were patient and considerate during the entire process.
We have a mid-​century modern home with radiant heating so the flooring had to be suitable. The installer were careful with my furniture and tidy in their work materials

THIS STORE IS GREAT! I can’t really say all the things i would want to because it would take to long. My experienece with the staff here was FANTASTIC. Sue who helped us was thoughtful. patient and made every effort to make our carpet and flooring experience enjoyable. The staff at the store Mary and everyone else were also a delight. In these times it is hard to find individuals who will CALL BACK when they say they will and do it, Carpet One Does. No matter how many questions we asked they were always willing to answer them. They also had installers that showed up when they said they would, and worked. If you ever need carpet or flooring this is the place to go. Our job was a major water leak, and unlike the other contractor’s that JERKED us around because they had been paid already by the insurance company, Carpet One showed HONESTY, INTEGRITY, AND BELIEF IN PERSONAL ATTTENTION .
THE MOST AMAZING THING WAS THAT WE HAD SOME BASEBOARD ISSUES WITH ONE OF THE CONTRACTORS WHO WAS JERKING US AROUND, AND AFTER MENTIONING THIS TO MARY, THEY TOOK IT UPON THEMSELVES TO RESLOVE ISSUE, BECAUSE THE WANTED OUR HOME TO LOOK RIGHT! NOW THAT IS CUSTOMER SERVICE AND PRIDE IN THEIR WORK.
