Came in on a very rainy Friday night around 8:00PM because we were doing laundry across the parking lot and needed dinner. This place is extremely small with about 10 tables that are situated pretty close to one another and a small bar in the back with German and Czech beer on draft. I immediately loved the intimate and comfortable feel of the place even though it did get pretty loud with all of us crammed into such a tiny little building. Our waitress took our drink orders and gave us some delicious complimentary bread that was warm and pull apart soft. My husband was thrilled that they had German beer on draft and bottled. He quickly ordered a Krusovice Imperial and loved it. We eventually settled on the Hungarian goulash and the Slovak Brochette. The Hungarian goulash was beef chunks covered in a spicy brown sauce that had a bit of a bite to it. My husband loved it and the spaetzle was cooked perfectly and really helped soak up that delicious paprika sauce. I LOVED the Slovak Brochette which was basically marinated pork in a really delicious creamy mushroom sauce and a side of spaetzle. The pork was so tender and juicy that I was easily able to pull it apart with my knife and fork. Our absolute favrotie part of the meal was the«soup of the day» that was offered before our meals. It had msurhoom, chicken, cabbage and fresh cilantro as a topping. I honestly would have been happy with just this as my meal. I can’t wait to grab this for dinner one night this week. Can I get a reciple, please? Amazing! The prices were reasonable and I thought they were pretty fair for the area and the lack of German food in Concord. The meals ranged from 16 – 18 $. Dinner for two with one beer, two soups, fresh bread and two delicious meals was approximately 43 $. NOTBAD. I

Ordered Hungarian goulash, bean soup, and beer. I feel like I’m in Europe. Everything so delicious. Bread is soft. Soup is thick and flavorful(you’d think bean soup is plain but this soup has shredded beef and is thick and so good). Spaetzl reminds me of my German great grandmother’s cooking. Everything is authentic and the flavors all compliment each other. I have a big appetite but I couldn’t finish it, and the prices are very reasonable for everything being made from scratch. I’m glad I came here and I will come back next week. So much nom!

O M G so freaking good the food is on point never have I ha a bad dish from this place BUT the older woman who serves and takes the orders tends to be a bit rude and pushy she’s a bit intence my mother had asked for a glass of milk and she basikly told her that she doesn’t want that she wants the beer cus the milk won’t fast good with the food and was very pushy and treated her as if she were a child and didn’t get her the milk. But even with her and her vinager type attitude it was still a great time I go there very often and its always great. I highly suggest that you go here and check it out the goulash is my favorite.

I hate to recommend this treasure for fear we will never get RSVP. We feel like we are in Prague or Split. The food is authentic, each soup outstanding. This is a gem. My favorite is the schnitzel. Enough for tomorrow. Service and staff divine.

We had dinner here with the family and DJs got a thumbs up all around from the adults and the kids. The schnitzel was excellent but the bratwurst was one of the best I ever had! If the food in Munich was as good as at DJs, I would have stayed longer ;)

This restaurant was recommended by a German friend who lives In Concord. I was curious since I’ve been to a few German places in San Francisco and Berkeley. So after my first(second and third) visit, I was HOOKED. My usual order: a schnitzle and a side of red cabbage. Try it, it won’t disappoint. This is now my favorite restaurant to eat at.

What an amazing experience! We’ve never been to a German restaurant and decided to give DJ’S a try. We were very happy and satisfied. The food was delicious and cooked perfectly. The soup they had was a meatball soup in a beef consume. It was amazing. We all had the pork shnitzel. Very tender and the delicious. the kids loved it. Will be back!

If you like German European food, this place is for you. I took off a star because of the price and portion. The lack of down sizing it. They do allow a split plate for an additional but worth paying the additional unless you want to bring ALOT home. The variety of beers makes this place a great hang out place. Lots of older German men sit at the bar, happily chatting away.

Was passing through this town with hubby cause we were in pleasant hill to pick something up. He was getting hungry so I started to Unilocal a few places up and see what was in the area and stumbled onto this place. German food places are hard to come by where we live so I decided on this place. Walked in here it’s a very cute little place very comforting settling, bright light and soccer game on. We were greeted right away by our waitress and sat us where we could watch the soccer game. She asked us for drink orders. And it came out right away with that she took out food order. She followed back out with a complimentary basket of bread and butter. Bread was nice and soft. Hubby ordered the Jaegér Schnitzel which came with spaetzle, red cabbage, and a mushroom gravy and I got the Hungarian Goulash which came with spaetzle. Food came out pretty fast about 10 – 15 mintues after we ordered it. The Jaegér Schnitzel was 2 very large cutlet almost covering the plate and it was nice and crispy. My Hungarian Goulash smelled amazing when she put it down in front of me. I took my first bite and the meat was so tender it almost melted in your mouth. You could even take a fork and break the meat up with that. Hubby gave me a bite of his food, and i must say one of the best Schnitzels I’ve ever had in my life, at this point I secretly wanted to swap foods with him lol… Overall out experience here was wonderful, the waitress was super friendly, attentive to everything we needed, food portions were very generous(to the point we couldn’t finish it we had to doggie bag it), food came out really fast, food is incredible. I’m so glad we stumbled on to this place it’s much closer then San Francisco when you’re craving German food. I highly recommend this place. :)

Took my boyfriend here tonight because he had never had Been. He got the meatloaf and I got the chicken bruchette. Service=awesome. Super friendly waitress. Food=amazing. Meatloaf isn’t your typical homemade American meatloaf and I honestly like it 10x more than my moms(ssh don’t tell). And my chicken bruchette I’ve had before and I wasn’t disappointed! I couldn’t decide if I wanted soup or salad and the waitress told me their soup today was cabbage soup and I was very skeptical about it but I got it anyways and let me tell you. it’s bomb dot com!!! Such good flavor. And she gave me a salad anyways on accident and it was soo yummy. I love their dressing. No complaints here! And so happy that my boyfriend loved it too so we can come back more :)

DJ’s is a small German /Czech spot tucked away off the street amidst some non-retail businesses. Cute bar area. The Single Jaeger Schnitzel($ 9.50) was a very large cutlet almost covering the plate with some spaetzle, red cabbage, and gravy trying to peak out around it.( ). The breading was nicely seasoned. The pork was a touch dry in spots, but easily remedied with the tasty mushroom gravy. The spaetzle is pan seared after cooking( ) giving some nice textural and flavor contrasts. The cabbage was good as well. If that wasn’t enough food, they bring you a basket of soft bread and butter( ) Very friendly staff.

As I am wont to do in 5-star reviews, I’ll start this review by listing everything I don’t like about this place: The spaces in the parking lot are too narrow. I drive an Impreza, not an Excursion. It shouldn’t be this tight of a squeeze to get out of my car. What an amazing little German restaurant in the middle of that horrible stretch of Willow Pass with all the strip malls and chain stores. They have a short menu, so choices are limited, but everything they make is incredible. From the schnitzels to the Hungarian goulash to the sauerbraten to the schweinebraten, meats are cooked incredibly tender(the schweinebraten… the schweinebraten…), portion sizes are huge(I mean… their lunch-sized schnitzel orders are enough for two meals), and prices are fantastic. Friendly staff. The food takes a bit of time to come up but it’s totally worth it when it arrives. Really, the only thing that could make this place rate any higher for me is if they added potato dumplings to the menu. At that point, game over man. Game over.

SPAETZLE. Spaetzle spaetzle spaetzle. Buttery, crispy, soft, chewy, spaetzle with tiny morsels of bacon here and there. The end. Who am I kidding… I LOVE to talk about food! DJ’s is my current restaurant crush. I highly recommend it for anyone who loves German /Central Eastern European food, or tasty comfort food. You do have to love your meat and starch, because that pretty much sums up most of the menu. It took me a while to persuade my boyfriend to go to DJ’s, because he kept moaning and groaning about how German food is «so heavy and fattening» — and then he thoroughly enjoyed himself, and wanted to go back again the next weekend. If they’re serving Beef Rouladen that night, count your lucky stars! That is one of THE most heavenly meals I have ever had the pleasure of eating. It’s a large, super tender cut of beef stuffed with a flavorful assortment of meats and vegetables(thick bacon, bratwurst, onion, mushroom, pickle, hardboiled egg, carrot) and smothered in gravy. The dish was supposed to come with boiled potatoes, but I requested spaetzle instead, and they very kindly accommodated. The Goulash, Jaeger Schnitzel, and Wiener Schnitzel, though not nearly as mind-blowing, are definitely delicious as everyone says. The Schnitzels are probably also the most filling dishes on the menu. The only difference between the two Schnitzel entrees is that each comes with a different set of sides. You can choose either the regular portion(2 giant slabs of meat) or the small portion(1 giant slab). For reference, my boyfriend has the appetite of a dinosaur, and he was filled up by the regular portion PLUS an extra bratwurst link. I don’t eat as much as him, but I still have a pretty big appetite — and I could only finish half the regular portion. However, I loved having it again for lunch the next day. The apple strudel is really yummy, but you must(1) come early enough so that they haven’t sold out; and(2) actually save room for it. Just a minor note… theirs is made with phyllo dough, but I believe traditionally it calls for strudel pastry. However, phyllo does save time and labor — and while I’m no strudel expert, theirs is still very tasty. The restaurant is small, so you may want to make a reservation. Based on some reviews, I’m not sure how consistently reservations are honored… but I would think it’s still worth a shot. However, even when we went on a busy night without a reservation, we didn’t have to wait long. ETC.: — Their specials and soups change daily. — Both the cabbage soup and chicken soup are delicious. — Even their complimentary bread is unusually good. — Everyone who works there is very charming and appears to be incredibly efficient and on top of their game. — The restaurant is kind of tucked away, not that easy to see from the street. — Parking is very easy.

My girlfriend and I were in the area and chose this restaurant based on the Unilocal ratings. We came for dinner, which includes a soup or salad and bread. The soup was flavorful and the house salad was average. There were some pieces of browned lettuce. The bread was soft and yummy, but when I went to spread butter on my bread, my girlfriend noticed green fuzz on the butter. I didn’t know butter could even grow mold… We ordered the Jaeger Schnitzel and the Duckling, since there were pictures on Unilocal. The Jaeger Schnitzel seemed to a popular item. An easy way to describe the taste is a Japanese tonkatsu that is fried harder sitting on top of a bed of bland gravy. The portion size was great, but the taste left much to be desired. The Duckling was a «roast» duck on a bed of gravy. It was unevenly seasoned. The parts with seasoning was tasty, the unseasoned areas tasted like boiled duck. tl;dr — food is mediocre — service was nonexistent — good portion size — be wary of fuzzy butter

Imported Euro beers on tap, served cold in 0.5L glasses. That’s epic for me, as I’m tired of being shorted at so many places, including these fad«breweries» that serve beer in British-style«pint» glasses — but are just 14 oz fakes. A gulp is a gulp, and I resent being fooled. That half-liter mark on the glass is assurance. FOOD — Not only is there a decent variety on the menu, every item is authentically prepared. The Wiener Schnitzel, Jaeger Schnitzel and Bavarian Chicken(made similarly, excellent alternate choice) are very popular, as is the Hungrian Goulash. The dill salad dressing should be bottled and sold — it’s that good! As is the potato salad(the only potato salad on earth I will eat). The portions are more than generous; so if you have a hungry appetite, you’ll not be disappointed. Oh yeah, you can preview the full menu on their website. There is also a map and some directions on the website. Easy parking as the place is in a tucked-away plaza with its own parking lot. Very safe too — I have never seen people loitering about that have no business being there. So ladies, you can relax here, have your drinks and delicious meal and not be bothered.

Finally found myself at DJ’s after years of curiosity — My mother’s family is Czech-Mex(Slovaks integrated into El Paso), and I grew up eating kielbasa, pierogi, stuffed cabbage, and potatoes — all with chiles and queso. Concord is a desert of Eastern European food, so I was pretty excited to find DJ’s. Didn’t see any stuffed cabbage or pierogi on the dinner menu, but there is plenty of brats, sauerbraten, schnitzel, and goulash. German beers are on draft for $ 5, and of course, they have Pilsner Urquell. I personally feel the food slants heavily toward the German side(as well as the adorable owners of the place), and there’s nothing wrong with that. At $ 16.50 an entrée, prices aren’t cheap, but the portions are gigantic, especially for the Jaeger Schnitzel. The Bohemian Sauerbraten, same story. The name of the game in this place is carbs and gravy, so it’s hard to complain about much. Ok: I wasn’t a fan of their red cabbage sauerkraut, and really wish I had seen some pierogi and stuffed cabbage on the menu. :-( If you’re into this food genre, I recommend Walzwerk in San Francisco. Much more complex flavors and use of vegetables, but I look forward to returning to DJ’s for the Goulash and another Erdinger. ;-) Check em’ out!
