You say manager has been trying to call me.
Why do I want to talk with him again? I spoke with him a week ago who promised big changes (same old thing I have heard from 4 different managers) but when going in this weekend, this is what I found.
This club has been filthy since day 1 and that is after going through a zillion management changes.
I have asked senior management in corporate to call me, they say they will but always ends up being the club manager who gets nothing done.
Steam room out of service both Saturday and Sunday.
Empty containers and some full used to clean steam room Saturday still on floor with empty water bottles and more strewn about Sunday.
6 of 8 showers had no soap!
Filthy dirty showers with tons of hair, old bars of soap etc.
1 Shower still broken after weeks
Plastic bags for wet bathing suits empty
I guess this was an improvement?

What a nightmare: consistently filthy showers with black mold, long hair on the floors at all times. The volume of zumba classes is at leastaround 100db, the floor above is vibrating, many people use air-​plugs –doesn’t help anymore.
Management changes each 2 months. The latest one, Tyler, could not fix SUPER-​LOUD VOLUME. Instructors are very stubborn and refuse to use healthy volume. The «party» is just going on…
They must be deaf already, I mean it. After all, a hearing aid is only $ 7000, not a big deal.
No chlorine in the pool, occasionally people get sick.
THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.

I agree 100% with Joan B review below! I was a member for many years, before it was In-​shape also. I could go on and on about how disgusting the women’s shower area CONSISTENTLY is, despite CONSTANT reports to the apathetic management, and actual pictures sent to the corporate In-​shape office, but I will sum it up by an experience I had, which was the «last straw» leading me to discontinue my membership. I was swimming in the pool, and an official looking gentleman, (I found out he was from The Department of Health) came out and was testing the water quality. After he did this, he let myself, and another swimmer know that there was 0 chlorine in the water, and for our safety, he advised us to get out of the water! I overheard him discussing this problem with the staff who was in charge of the pool at the time, and the staff simply shrugged his shoulders, and said, «I don’t know.» It was at that point, I knew I had to end my membership.
I usually don’t write reviews, but I felt that I should! I ended up joining a neighborhood gym for $ 8.99/month, and now swim at The Concord Community Pool, which is always clean, and heated, not to mention Olympic sized! It is unfortunate this gym has gotten to this point. Maybe the in-​shape gyms in other cities are run better, but unfortunately Concord In-​shape is liorphan that nobody cares about
P. S. I «reached out to the general manager» as was suggested after this review was posted, and my call was never returned! I rest my case.

I rejoined this gym after leaving to powerlift for a year or two. After a couple of injuries, I realized that I needed to step back with more cardio. Hence, I ended up back here swimming and lifting.
This gym is all things to everybody. That’s good and bad. Good for me who wants a lap pool, an adequate supply of weights (although they really do need a Glute/​Ham raise), and an occasional spin or yoga class. The hours are convenient as well.
If you’re looking for a specific focus like powerlifting or more explosive movements, this might not be your jam.

There are four employees that stand out here above the rest and because I am a gentlemam, we will mention the ladies first. The first gal is very pretty and she took me on a longer tour, her name, if I get it correct is estefany? Did I spell her name properly? Erick had taken me on a ‘regular’ tour and Estefany took me on. A extended tour, thank you Estefany your very pretty and very helpful and a wonderful person. Next we have Brandy she to is very pretty perhaps that is a requirement to work here.
Last night I came in and Brandy gave me a guest pass that I will start using today. I very much appreciated her help and for allowing me to work out last night.
Next for the men, first I should mention Erick, he was the first one to show me around the gym, this gym is Mongo sized!!!
Last but not least we have. Sho he is very pumped up… yah. pumped up… yah…I am officially back and hopefully all will work out.hey.that is a good one. all will work out. it is a gym. This is an excellent facility.

There is a reason why this gym has 3 stars it’s been under construction for 5 years. Gone through so many managers I can’t count. Talk about bait and switch this company is the absolute worse !!!
They send me a We miss you card that clearly states for 19 $ we want to to come back in fine print on the bottom it says for new membership there is a 299 enrollment fee… But here is the kicker look up the definition of new
If I was a member obv it’s not my first time being a member. Be aware of what lengths they will go to get your money.
So many other gyms in the area that aren’t trying to take your money

I was looking for a pool, close to my home, Clayton, that I could just do laps for exercise. I didn’t want to spend an arm and a leg to just swim. I signed up with Sho, an up beat and very delightful young man, reminds me of my sons friends. He was courteous, efficient and to the point. I appreciated that, because I didn’t want a long drawn out signing. Everyone at the counter was friendly and eager to help. The pool was beautiful and clean. Temperature very warm, which is good for me, because I froze many times at swim practice as a child. I like that the lane makers are in place and I don’t have to worry about little people jumping in my way, while I swim. Thanks for a great, no nonsense experience, Sho!

The only thing I like about this club is location. The equipment is junk. They never buy anything or do they repair the broken, outdated equipment they do have. Even if you do find a piece of equipment that works, they do not sync the equipment to any of the televisions or music. So do not plan on watching your favorite TV show or whatever game happens to be playing. Corporate offices do not put one dime into this club. Do not join here. You will be extremely disappointed.

I was looking for a gym with a pool, came here and fell in love with the gym. I would recommend getting a 7 day pass first just to see how you like it but I’m sure you’ll ending up getting a membership.

Overall — I would recommend this In Shape club to others. I have no serious complaints about the facility, and it is clear that they are committed to maintaining a club that people want to come to. Unfortunately, I can’t give it 5 stars due to administrative issues that have continued to pop up related to personal training sessions. Don’t let that stop you if you otherwise like the facility, but you have to be vigilant and very clear about your sessions. If you tend to cancel sessions, read all of the fine print in your agreements. I never cancel sessions, yet due to errors in the administrative department, somehow lost 6 sessions. It took several unsatisfactory phone calls over a year, a change of the company that administers the personal training, and a LOT of help from my trainer to finally get them restored.
If I didn’t have Roxana for a trainer, I would have stopped all personal training at In Shape. She is really everything you want in a personal trainer. With her decades of experience, she has seen the consequences of poor form and fitness fads, and ensures that her clients benefit from working smart while working hard.

What is with this trainer/​sales person marela? I am honestly unsure how she can remain employed. Her manner is pushy and condescending… she definitely does not belong in this location… send her to the Pittsburg location… she would be perfect there… just get her rude self out of Clayton… sheesh

I had a membership at this gym for a short time before I moved out of the area and my time there was more less the typical gym experience. There were lots of good things about this gym. They open early (4am) which is great to get in a workout before school or work. They are also open late if you like to workout in the evenings instead. The gym itself is HUGE! There are two floors of all gym equipment, different workout classes, outdoor swimming pool, childcare center, and private locker rooms. There are also places in the gym to sit down and take a quick break which is nice. The place doesn’t get as busy as other smaller gyms but that is because the gym is so large. No as far as the bad things, it is located in a central area and not really close to the freeway. The bathrooms are not the cleanest a which should they should always be and they alway lack towels which again is annoying.

First off, I really enjoy the fact that there is a great facility such as this close by to my home, however; management sucks horribly, the facility is consistently dirty, the towel dispensers are always empty as well as the disinfectant spray.
Oh, and I especially love the fact that when I get up at 3:30 am to be at the gym at 4 am and its not open because once again they couldn’t find a responsible and reliable employee to open the gym! This has been happening so frequent that I’m actually thinking about canceling my membership! Hey In-​Shape, where’s my refund for the mornings I cant workout because you failed to open the gym???
I also especially love the fact that they run out of towels all the time… WTF!
In Shape management needs to get their act together!

I had Erik Silahua give myself, family and friends multiple tours of the InShape facility. His professional attitude and knowledge of the facility made me feel important, welcome and informed. It was a terrific first experience at a gym!
I love the layout and cleanliness of the facility. The sheer size of the gym allows for a substantial amount of people without the typical crowding and waiting that you would get at a run of the mill gym. The amount of class offerings (in person and on demand) and other amenities really sealed the deal for me.
Thank you to all all the staff for your flexibility and professionalism.

I really would like to give this place at least 2 stars but the personal training is sub standard. Place is dirty unorganized and non of the weights are ever re racked. Stuff is all other the place.
First thing they do when u join is do a free training. Pretty much they tell u what youve been doing is all wrong and to do it the way they are doing it.
How ever if you have a issue the manager never call
you back. Maybe he’s on vacation and they dont have a back up.
All i can do warn people about the lack of after the sale service.
Also the rep i talk to said they didnt have any better upcoming promotions that were better but low and behold a month later. there giving out gym bags a now 2 personal training sessions.
Oh well… oh and the place is looking like is always under construction.
I dont mind paying a good price but i do expect a certain level of service.

In-​Shape Concord has a very helpful front desk staff. Juan provided me exceptional service last night. I was in the sauna and dropped my locker key in between the bench. Juan came in searched high in low for my key until he found it. I was extremely pleased with his pleasant demeanor.
However, as we were on the ground inside the sauna searching for my key I saw how FILTHY the sauna was underneath the sitting area. There was a long white creepy crawly thing running from the shining light. I was applauded at what I saw. I knew the equipment was outdated and nasty but I thought they would keep the sauna sanitized since it’s a highly infectious area.

I can almost understand having old equipment and outdated décor, it’s an older gym, but I can not comprehend how disgustingly dirty this place is. The grout in the women’s showers should not be black – it’s mold! It does not cost extra money to get on your hands and knees and scrub this place. 24 hr Fitness at the Sun Valley Mall does a better job cleaning their locker rooms than this place does. Extremely disappointed with my new membership here. Shop around!

In-​Shape Concord has been a big disappointment. There are no consistent Housekeeping staffing in the morning, so we arrive to toilets clogged, women’s hygiene items used and left in the shower, hair on the floor, and bugs and mold growing where we want to take showers after working out. The staff that work there are always trying to apologize for management and they do the best they can (big smiles each morning!), however the management, (both general and corporate) do not invest in the fundamental infection control and health standards to run a business much less a sweaty gym where germs multiple by the second.
The spin classes are the product of great people with little support and there are a few groups who have taken it upon themselves to create their own work-​out groups to get the job done, which is very unique and special. It’s a shame to see such a great lost opportunity in this high need area. I wish it were different but all the complaints, pictures, working with management has never done a thing.
The only thing left one could do is call the Department of Public Health at the State or the local CC County Department of Public Health to see what conditions exist in the gym., Highly variable and inconsistent for what you pay for.

Helpful and accommodating gym staff. They ran out of towels when I needed to swim. They remembered and left one out for me when I got out of the pool.
Manager gave me a good deal to be part of two gyms (home & work) for a great price.
Pool is outdoors for my lap swims but refreshing and not crowded when I come after work. I like the service of this gym.
