Specialties
John F. Kennedy University Community Counseling Centers provide affordable counseling services to the public at three locations in the Bay Area — Concord, Oakland, and Sunnyvale. Graduate students under the supervision of licensed professionals conduct counseling sessions for individuals, couples, and groups.
For more than 40 years, these Centers have offered a safe, confidential environment for adults, children, couples, and families in search of personal counseling and support. Fees are assessed on an affordable, sliding-scale basis.
History
Established in 1975.
The Centers’ mission is twofold: to offer affordable community support for children and families, and to effectively educate and train future counselors through hands-on experience which is supervised by licensed practitioners.
These Counseling Centers, located in Concord, Oakland, and Sunnyvale, provide high quality, affordable, confidential mental health services to individuals, children, and families who might not otherwise be able to get the support they need. These services are provided by students in graduate psychology degree programs under the supervision of licensed professionals.
These graduate students also work directly on public school campuses in these three geographic areas to provide school-based counseling for at-risk students who are struggling with mental and behavioral health issues.
The Centers are a nonprofit 501©(3) educational and charitable psychological treatment center, supported by client fees, grants, fundraising, and private donations.
