Brandon showed up on time. True professional great attitude and friendly service. My air conditioner was totally burnt up, electrical board fried, wires burnt, capacitors exploded. JMT mechanical fixed everything, and in a timely manner as well.

We had an urgent air conditioning problem during a recent heat wave at our townhouse in Martinez, CA. Other A/​C contractors could not schedule for several days, but the owner (Mark) at JMT heard the secretary take the call, and he agreed to come out the next day, even though he was somewhat incapacitated by a foot injury. To make matters more unhappy, our «home warranty» company was proving difficult to schedule, work with, pin down on who was responsible for what. Mark gave me excellent advice, quoted a fair price, solved some problems caused by prior inept installation, and finished the job as soon as a new unit and parts became available. His men never complained about some challenges of the townhome’s layout, they just figured out solutions. As you can tell, I’m a big fan of JMT.

JMT Mechanical installed a Carrier AC/​Heating system in my home 7 years ago, and when I experienced recurring problems with it recently, Mark and his team really stepped up to help resolve my problems. They advocated for me with Carrier to honor the warranty with parts and labor, and while this may seem like standard operating procedure, it was very unusual because JMT is no longer a Carrier distributor. All this had to be coordinated through another company (Moore Mechanical — who also were very good) who acts as a distributor for Carrier today. JMT helped me out with obtaining refrigerant for the repair — an extremely costly item — and I feel all this, combined with the advocacy — was going above and beyond for me.
I have to give big props to Mark, Brandon and everyone at JMT for being truly service oriented and operating with high integrity and professionalism.

I used JMT Mechanical about 5 years ago to upgrade my AC/​Heater. Mark, the owner, sold me a more expensive unit with a promise of a $ 900 rebate. The rebate never came. I called their office on a weekly basis and spoke with Jackie who never had a straight answer. After a year, she finally told me that the company had stopped paying rebates so there was nothing she could do about it. I lost the $ 900. Then in May 2012, I called for service because my unit wasn’t working. When Mark visited he said the thermostat was not working probably. I had a higher end, touch screen unit (which they sold me). It was still under warranty so he installed a cheaper unit, took mine and said he would send it in for the warranty and then would adjust my bill after. I paid close to $ 500 for the visit. The next day a technician came to service the unit (as part of the $ 500 agreement) and he found a piece that needed to be replaced (also while still under warranty.) He left and never came back! I have been calling their office, talking to the new receptionist several times a month. Although polite and caring, she has been giving me the same run around that Jackie gave me about the $ 900. The last time I called, she said she wasn’t hearing back from Mark so she would have Tony, the wife, return my call that same afternoon… the call never came! I am now close to $ 1500 out, the unit is now out of warranty, part still missing, and the touch screen thermostat nowhere to be seen. I am so disappointed because I selected JMT not for their prices (they were higher than other bids) but the fact that they were a family business but at the end the joke is on me. I have disputed the charges with my credit card company and will never use or recommend them again. If you use them, make sure they don’t leave your house with a promise to return or call because they never do.

I recently had three units installed in my home for heating/​AC and the people at JMT were great.
From the up-​front visit to get a quote to the guys that worked on the installation, I would recommend this company to anyone needing heating or AC work.
The only issue I had was getting an actual date/​time for the installation. It turns out the scheduling challenge was a result of a change in staffing. But after expressing my frustration, the owner called me right away and resolved all concerns, and scheduled the work for the next day!
Everyone at this company is honest, professional, friendly, and down-​to-​earth. No obnoxious sales pitches here. And after the guys left some dirt on the floor they even vacuumed my house to clean it up!
We will definitely use this company again.

I’ve been working with JMT over the past 8 years. They’ve handled everything from installing tankless hot water heaters at my home to stardard heating units in my rental properties. The owner Mark is easy to work with and has a great crew.

Unfortunately, we’ve recently had some poor experiences with the folks that installed our LG Art Cool AC system, so we decided to try a different contractor (JMT) and so far, I’m glad we did.
Interestingly enough, JMT was one of the two folks we considered for the initial install and they’re who we called for the tune-​up this time. Both times they’ve been to the house, they’ve been on-​time (which should have been an initial positive indicator), so we hope we’re in a good situation now with a responsible contractor.
This morning Brandon showed up right on time and discussed how he’d installed another of these units (an unusual LG mini-​split designer model — the «ArtCool») in Marin, so it was comforting to know that he knew his way around the system.
The tune-​up itself is a pretty simple operation: cleaning, testing for operation, coolant pressure/​level, etc… so the most important factor is (1) knowing what you’re doing and (2) being on time to do it — and Brandon did a fine job at both. He didn’t even skip a beat when he headed for the weird, hard-​to-​configure air filters in the head-​units… a nice indication that he knew what he was doing.
JMT is a more casual outfit than our previous provider — and this «outward appearance» might have been the reason we didn’t go with them in the first place (hey, I’m a designer — I notice these things). But in the spirit of «never judge a book by its cover», they seem to have come through where it mattered: service and knowledge.

My experience with JMT Mechanical was superior. They were reasonably priced, efficient, and knowledgeable. They moved an AC unit for me, routing the lines in the most efficient, aesthetically pleasing manner. All plans were discussed with me first. Mark who estimated the job was courteous, professional, and knowledgeable. The two crew members were equally so; taking care when items in my garage were moved to replace them exactly as they were found; as well as to ask for my direction when options were possible. Mark and JMT Mechanical have my highest recommendation.
Update:
Mark with JMT Mechanical was very creative in suggesting the addition of 3 sound attenuators bolted to the inside of my furnace plenum to reduce furnace noise in my bedroom on the 2^nd floor. He designed 3 rectangular pieces of metal covered with 1.5 inch black sound mat on both sides. I no longer have to shut off the furnace at night so I can sleep. JMT Mechanical has my highest recommendation. Very reasonably priced.

We recently got our new AC/​furnace from JMT Mechanical. Installed were 2 AC units, new tankless hotwater heater, and a whole house fan. The men working in my house were so polite, professional, thoughtful and considerate at every step. They explained what they were working on and what was left to be done each day. The owner, Mark Smith, gave us quality service at a great price for all that work. I highly recommend JMT Mechanical if you need any kind of parts, maintenance, or even an entire new system
