Liberty Gymnastics Training Center

Wow, what a fantastic experience! Our two daughters are in Visions charter school and we were super happy to discover that Liberty Gymnastics is an approved vendor. We brought our girls and they had a wonderful time and can’t wait to go back.
The facilities are great, but we think it’s the coaches that really make this place shine. Our girls were really lucky to have an INCREDIBLE coach named Amanda. She was super friendly, patient, and really helpful! She perfectly balanced talking to and working with them at their individual levels. We know our girls are going to ask for her specifically for future classes!

I am a big fan of this place. My children now 4 & 3 have been going here for just a little over a year now. They have moved up to different level classes in that time. They have had three different coaches and all have been great. The classes are skill appropriate and they are very organized in what they are teaching them, there is a purpose to everything. But it is delivered with encouragement and made fun! My children gain confidence and skill. We have had Coach Amanda, Coach Marc & Coach Megan.
They have an upstairs viewing/​seating area for parents with coffee (Thanks!). I have often hung out after class to give my kids a snack and on Fridays the staff are out there cleaning all the equipment thoroughly which is nice to see.
They recently started open gyms on Friday so we stayed for that one day and it was fabulous. We have also attended their holiday day camps and the kids had a blast there too. I sat in the viewing area and worked so I was able to see first hand how they kept them busy for 3+ hours.
I have never felt like my kids were unsafe in anything that they have done both in the classes or the open gym time.

This is a great gymnastics facility for recreational gymnasts or, if you are interested in your kids progressing to competition level gymnastics. It’s large, clean, and the instructors are excellent. I have two kids here and they both love it. I feel they are in very competent hands and I look forward to their continued growth in agility, balance and self confidence.

On Thursdays I take my two little boys to the open gym from 11 – 12 at Liberty.
Coach Marc is so great and makes sure to come and say hello and interact with everyone multiple times throughout the hour. Obstacle courses are set up, apparatus are available and they do some cute songs and parachute activities at two times throughout the hour.
$ 7 for first kid and $ 3 for each sibling.

My daughter wanted to learn to cartwheel and do other playground tricks. My son wanted to learn how to parkour (street gymnastics). So before my son could attempt to flip off a fire hydrant, I decided to enroll him and my daughter in a gym. At first, I tried Encore. Big mistake. On my son’s 2^nd class, the instructor let him try a front handspring unassisted on the floor exercise which resulted in a busted bottom lip that bled allover the place. My son could hardly do a forward roll let alone an attempted front handspring. I gave it a few more months and found it to be more recreational than technical. By technical I mean, I never heard — point your toes, straight legs… none of the movements ever seemed controlled nor were corrected.
I asked around and several moms had suggested Liberty. I put them both in the free trial class and they loved it. We’ve been there nearly 2 years now. My daughter is still doing recreational and loves it. My other son, however, progressed much more quickly and is now on the beginning level team. My 3^rd older son, asked me recently (after years of watching) if he could try it. He did a trial class and loved it. Now I’ve got 3 kids having a blast at Liberty.
The coaches are encouraging and nurturing. I find the staff to be polite and helpful. In fact, after a year of my daughter doing recreational, her coach approached me and said, my daughter had not really progressed after 1 year and is still attempting level 1 tricks. But she is having lots of fun. I asked my daughter if she wanted to keep at it… and she said yes. The coach was more than happy to have her and said not to worry… every kid progresses at different rates. So I’ve got 1 kid who’s competing and 2 that are just having fun.
The place is clean, parents are friendly, they offer free coffee, a table with coloring books and crayons for waiting siblings, and best of all free Wifi. I like the viewing area up above. It’s large and easy for me to watch my kids. I’ll be taking my kids there as long as they are still having fun.

I love this gym! I wish I was a kid again so I could attend!!! They have all the equipment that you need for gymnastics. This isn’t just tumbling. My grandsons absolutely love it!

Pretty disappointed in this gym. We signed our 3 yrs old with coach Rick and slowly it changed to another coach. They didnt notify me before they make the change. It was a smooth move in their part. Ever since the new coach took over it was just not worth the money anymore. The class is 45 min long. One time she spend almost 20 min on 1 kid and the rest got so bored started running around! And she gives time outs for not the right reasons. She was telling this 3 yr old girl something (I forgot what) and she didn’t do so she timed her out. The girls mom sat right next to me and said I don’t think my girl understood her. You know toddlers say yes to everything even though they didn’t understand. Anyway. I understand the new coach is not experienced so she should only coach 2 – 3 kids per class. Not 6 kids!

We tried Liberty for our rambunctious girl at age 4 for their Parents Night Out. She loved it! And so did we. It’s a large facility; they took a spacious warehouse and turned it into a gym. The equipment is professional and appropriate for its purpose, the whole place is clean, and the instructors appear to know what they’re doing. Upstairs lounge where you can observe all the action. Large selection of classes, and prices are in line with other gyms.
I want to give them 5 starts, but we’ve been here only for Parents Night Out several times, she hasn’t taken any full classes with them yet, so I don’t have enough knowledge about the place to go 5 stars. But she did go to a birthday party at another popular gym in the area, and Liberty is better than that one. It’s a good place to check out.

We loved Liberty Gymnastics, and were sad to move away from the area and miss being here. Our daughter, Mayela, learned so much here in the short 1 year attending, but it still shines through in the gymnastics she does today. The coaches were tough but caring and made a lasting impact on our daughter. Thanks Liberty!

Cheer class is not as good as expected, very expensive for only 1 class a week, and the teacher is not very good with the age group appropriate skills as I would hope.
Cheer class was full, so I expected it to be awesome, but a huge let down. Plus there is a LOT of time the kids stand around, and get stickers in the end, which wastes about 10 – 15 minutes per class time. Not allowing the kids to jump, run and practice as I have paid for.

Clean, state of the art, awesome training center. Great program with great coaches.

My daughter loves Liberty Gymnastics! Her teacher Peter is great and she enjoys the 7 other kids she has class with. The price is about right at $ 77 a month. I highly recommend it.

After we moved to Clayton we decided that we needed to find a gymnastics facility for our daughter to attend that was closer to our home than Head Over Heels in Emeryville. After reading some Unilocal reviews we decided to try Liberty Gymnastics in Concord.
6-​months later we are still happy with our decision. While we really liked Head Over Heels, we find that Liberty is better organized and they do a better job of keeping parents informed of their child’s progress by allowing you to review a clipboard after each session that shows progress (skills that have been mastered or are close to being mastered).
The best test for success is the fact that when given a choice of organized activities, she consistently says that she wants to continue her gymnastics class. We’ll stick with Liberty as long as she remains interested.

I wish I could give this place ½ stars because to be honest they only deserve a 4.5. I love the clean gym equipment, friendly instructors, on line enrollment/​class info, free coffee and viewing area but the front desk does leave something to be desired. Otherwise though we have been very satisfied with Liberty.

AWFUL-​RUN AWAY FROM THIS SAD EXCUSE OF A FAMILY-​ORIENTED ENVIRONMENT!!! From the initial phone call and first visit, I noticed the lack of organization and professionalism. The person on the phone had no answers for any of my basic questions and didn’t know how to help me sign my son up (ok!) and then encouraged me to come by. After arriving at a planned time, since I had a set lunch break, I was greeted by locked doors (in the middle of the day)! When I tried to register again, the manager shared that she ‘tends to do this and should put a sign up if she isn’t around!” (ya think?)
So we’re told that there is only one coach available for our program and we sign up! And after session number 1, we’re told that coach won’t be there the following week! (ok, things happen!) Week 2, DIFFERENT COACH! Week 3, STILL ANOTHER COACH! My son is 4 and was worried about who his coach would be each week at this point. And this coach didn’t even know when my son walked away from the group to use the restroom, likely because he didn’t know who to check in with! My husband had to go find our son and ask that he rejoin his group, all while coach #3 plays, unknowingly, with the other children. CONSISTENCY IS KEY IN BUILDING CONFIDENCE AND CONNECTION AND THERE WAS NONE!!! My son is 4 years old and as a good mom and therapist, I know that without these things, a strong connection IS NOT made!
I tried checking in with staff a few times to find ongoing organizational issues, nobody calling me back or saying that they thought they already had talked with me… never once did a supervisor or owner touch bases with me to assure me that this shouldn’t and/​or wouldn’t happen again. Regardless, the person I do speak with shares that it shouldn’t happen again but that our fourth and final week will have a FOURTH COACH!!! (seriously?) We ended up getting the original coach back for the fourth and final week, GEE THANKS!
We decide to try one more session and pretend that perhaps we just had a bad experience, chalk it up to a bunch of mistakes, and want to move on assuming we’d get our money back for the first session. After waiting over a week for a call back and calling myself to get some response, I’m told that the owner will only return my $$ if I leave the gym altogether! I can’t quite imagine how this is good business, on any level, accept to say that he wants to avoid potential lawsuits for losing my son? I don’t know. All I know is that we wanted to work it out and were treated poorly ONCE AGAIN! Should have known… now a week later, still waiting for my money back and never a call from a supervisor or owner to acknowledge the disservices.
GOOD RIDDANCE!

I am a Big fan of Liberty Gymnastics!

I first brought my 3 daughters to Liberty in Nov of 2005. They had boundless energy and I thought that gymnastics would be a great outlet. 5 years later, all three are still addicted to gymnastics. All three are competing and loving the sport, and mom (that’s me) loves the amazing mental, physical, and social growth they are experiencing through the sport.
The coaching staff are professional and attentive at both the recreational and competitive levels. The facilities are bright and clean. Whether you are looking for a gym where your child can grow as a competitor in the sport, or just a place where they can have fun while doing something good for themselves. I recommend Liberty Gymnastics.

Tried 2 other gymnastics centers before trying Liberty. Coaches are good to great. Facility becomes very busy after school and on weekends which makes parking and seating difficult to find. Too few bathrooms for the number of kids. No air conditioning in summer, so beware. They offer a free trial class, which is a nice way of trying it out before you buy. Recreational classes are pricey (over $ 10 per class). They offer family nights for extra fee and 2-​hour birthday parties for $ 175 if you are a member ($ 200 if you aren’t). Compared to other gymnastic centers, this is probably one of the better ones if you are strictly looking for recreational classes.

This gym program is great! The coaches are true educators either by personality or by training. They have constructively worked with my four year old. She has learned to trust herself and her teachers here. She has been challenged and coached to success. She has learned alot of gymnastics and is happy rising to the new challenges. Great place! Worth the drive! Coach Theo and Coach Amanda Donner are great! Thank you!

I’ve been to 4 other kids gyms in the area and this is by far the best one I’ve found. At first I’ll admit my admiration was all superficial… super clean facilities, newer equipment, free coffee, wifi, a cool parents waiting area (more like a balcony so there’s optimum viewing). However, after witnessing how great my 4 year old son’s coach (Theo) was with the kids and how each week my son begs to go back… I am truly thankful to have stumbled across this place.
Here’s the differences I’ve noticed between this gym and other gyms:
The classes and routines appear to be very organized. They break the kids into smaller groups (4 or 5) and then they rotate through stations (obstacle course, trampoline, ball pit, tumbling etc). You absolutely do NOT get the feeling that the coaches are making it up as they go along. Along these same lines, the coaches pay attention to the moves the kids are doing and actually take the time to teach them and then reteach them and reteach them how to do the move correctly. Most importantly (in my mind at least) the coaches actually expect the kids to listen and when they don’t listen as 4 year old often do… the coach nicely but confidently requests that they do and then follows through on it. Hooray for consistency! It’s just the perfect amount of structure for a preschooler.
So why does my son beg to go back each week?
It’s obviously fun for him… he’s all smiles the entire time. Also, his coach is young and male and there happens to be a few other boys in his class so this increased the cool factor for him. I’m anticipating that at some point the newness will wear off and he’ll tire of gymnastics. But for now I am just enjoying watching him grow and learn.
My son’s class is on a weekday in the morning and I have never had a problem with parking or with the gym being crowded.
