Let me start this review by saying that I love eating at hole in the wall places and I don’t complain about food much. I can eat anything without complaining so if I do complain, something must be wrong. I had just finished biking and was very hungry. I think I had just a banana and protein shake for breakfast so I was looking forward to lunch esp after doing some climbing on the road bike. Anything would satisfy my intense hunger now. On advise of my friend I was told that the Philly Cheese Steak was highly rated so I ordered that. The lady at the counter asked if it was ‘to go’. I told her that we’ll be eating in. I got my Philly Cheese Steak sandwich(PCSS) but it was packed ‘to go’. Why did they even ask me I wondered. Anyways, I was so hungry I took a bite and realized the bread was stale/dry(it fell apart when I picked it up). As I was gobbling up my PCSS I noticed something was wrong but I couldn’t put my finger on it. I was just so hungry that I continued eating. At the end I started to complain about the PCSS and realize there was NOCHEESE on my Philly CHEESE steak sandwich. I remember looking inside and making a comment about how little meat it had, but I totally missed the cheese. I thought it was a given. I looked on the wrapping paper the sandwich was wrapped in and I did find what look like a hair-strand of cheese less than ½ in long. I don’t remember tasting any cheese, but if there was any it would be oozing out touching the paper. That little strand I found could have been from another order they cooked and I got a little bit of it because there was NOCHEESE in my sandwich. I asked my friend to open his up since he was still eating his and I could not find any cheese in his sandwich either. In fact, he loaded his sandwich up with mayo to compensate for the lack of cheese/dressing. I realize I was basically eating a vegetable sandwich(and not a good one at that) on stale bread. I’ve had better sandwich at Subway/Togos so we could have been better off going there for a PCSS. This has got to be the worst Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich I’ve ever had! Who forgets the cheese on a sandwich with the word«cheese» in the name. The way I see it, they only had one chance to impress me and they failed. They didn’t strike out once, but four times on this single order: 1. No cheese 2. Stale bread 3. very little meat(come on, the name of the sandwich has the word«STEAK» in it. Where’s the beef?) 4. ‘dine in’ order made ‘to go’(not a biggie, but it’s the attention to details that’s lacking here)

This review is for the Monument Grill’s so-called Philly Cheesesteak sandwich only. It does the sandwich a grave injustice and is arguably the worst Philly Cheesesteak I’ve ever had! My first impression was the mediocre stale bread, which didn’t take long to fall apart. Then low quality chunks of beef that quickly fell off the bread. There was little dressing. The near complete lack of cheese was inexcusable. Perhaps some slivers or filaments gamely clung to dough here or there, but certainly not the two slices that the cook claimed to have put on it. If there were, they were hair-thin. I’m not exaggerating much by saying that you’d need a magnifying glasss to hunt for their existence! Either the cook made a mistake and left them off of each of our(I came with a friend) orders, or they were blatantly cutting corners. He sure didn’t appeared concerned when I asked him about the cheese.(A good Philly Cheesesteak has a lot of tasty gooey cheese!) I felt a bit ripped off. There were certainly a lot of vegetables in this unbalanced sandwich. The onions were not sauteed in butter and lacked taste. The only saving grace for me were the pickled peppers, which added flavor to an otherwise bland mess. 1.5 stars overall, since it was mediocre but edible. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing, or maybe some people are easily pleased.

I was looking for a new place to eat in Concord on Unilocal. This place had a high average of reviews so I thought I’d check it out… I ordered the Big Breakfast, which comes with three eggs, two bacon strips, two sausage links, hash browns, and toast. I ordered the eggs over medium and I added spinach to my meal. After the person at the counter took my order, I asked if she had noted the spinach, just to make sure. She said that the Big Breakfast didn’t come with spinach, but I told her that I had added it to my meal(it is a choice on the Extras part of the menu) and she said that she must not have heard me and that she would add it. I sat down at my dirty table. When I got my order, there was no spinach(after mentioning it twice when ordering). She looked puzzled(same woman), and was staring at the menu for quite a while when I told her that the spinach was located in the Extras section. She proceeded to read the description of the Big Breakfast, and I told her that I knew the Big Breakfast didn’t come with spinach but that I ordered it as an addition to my meal from the Extras menu. She said that since my eggs weren’t scrambled they didn’t cook the spinach with the eggs like they would normally do. I asked her why they couldn’t just sautée some spinach quickly on the stove, and she said that they would do that. She came back in a couple minutes with a small amount of microwaved spinach. My eggs weren’t over medium at all – totally over easy. They weren’t very good tasting eggs either, and neither was the bacon. The toast was hardly toasted, and the hashbrowns were closer to raw than cooked. There was also a hair in my food under a sausage. Overall the food was very sub par. No idea why this place has such high reviews, unless everyone eating here has never eaten at a good restaurant before. Maybe I somehow ordered the only thing on the menu that wasn’t good? I normally don’t give two stars, but this place was just completely unsatisfying. Will not be going back. Left a bad taste in my mouth and I don’t feel so great :(

Had discovered this place on Unilocal over a year ago when a few coworkers and I were debating where to go eat after hiking up a long trail in the East Bay. Staff was friendly. We ordered an assortment of burgers(I got the Double Cheeseburger) with fries and sweet potato fries. The burger was cooked perfectly and the fries were awesome. Decent prices with generous portions.

Bad made to order food combined with terrible service equals a place one shouldn’t visit. If you want a basic meal you will be better off at a fast food joint. Do yourself a favor, avoid this place if possible. I went out with my girlfriend just trying to find new place to have a burger at. We Unilocaled some places in Concord and Pleasant Hill, CA. We settled on this place and it turned out to be a major mistake. I normally don’t post too many reviews here but once in a while I feel a place deserves one whether good or bad. I ordered mushrooms and swiss burger, a bacon cheeseburger, chile cheese fries and some onion rings. A simple order when done properly in addition that the place was empty at the time. Here’s a list of what went wrong. 1. They gave my order to another couple.(to go!) 2. That same couple came back as they realized their order was not what they had paid for. 3. They turned around and placed that order that was returned on plates and gave them to us! After I asked if they could do my order right, fresh and hot they basically just turned around and warmed it all. Diane is the name of the cashier/kitchen helper. Too many fumbles for a decent meal. A $ 6 burger from Carl’s Jr. Is at least twice as nice. This place is just like a bad version of a fast food place. The workers failed at simple concepts of food and service combined.

Went to the Monument Grill on Saturday, I wanted try a new place. When we walked into the restaurant we were greeted with a super friendly big olé smiling face. Nice greeting. My friend and I ordered the Bacon Cheeseburgers and a shake. I know we ordered the same thing, not much branching out. The burger was cooked perfectly, the bun was delicious. Just enough cheesy goodness. It was a really great burger. The shake was phenomenal, I stopped eating and drank the whole thing. Creamy vanilla deliciousnesh(Is that a word, probably not). Definitely will return.

The moment you enter into Monument Grill you are greeted with a friendly greeting by the owner. I, sadly, did not catch his name, but he really makes your experience so much better. He makes you feel like you stepped into your Uncle’s house and he is making fun of you for not eating enough or making sure that you have everything. Being a big girl at heart, I was craving a greasy, diner, cheeseburger so I had a bacon cheeseburger! It was definitely everything that I had been craving. I also ordered curly fries and regular fries and both were great! Seriously, if you want a cheap and tasty burger, but don’t want to wait in line for In and Out or want to try something different, THISISTHEPLACE! Super tasty and fun environment. Will definitely be back!

One of the best burgers I’ve had. Juicy, cheesy and mayo-y … Get the monument double burger. I live right by the place and now when the Warriors game is on and I’m craving a burger and fries I ain’t making the 30 – 45 min trip to inn and out anymore. The staff is very friendly and chill, they were treating me like one of the«regulars» the first time l walked in. They usually have the game on and theyll have your food ready quick! Give it a shot if you’re in the area. You won’t regret it.

Good food + fair prices + friendly staff = Great Value! Had the French toast and a breakfast sandwich and both were delicious. French toast had a nice thin crisp egg and cinnamon surface. Croissant egg sandwich was savory and the sausage had a light peppery spice to it.

Just went here for the first time. Ordered the ham and cheese ommelate. Overall was a good experience. Very reasonable prices. Good coffee, good food. Sam is a natural born comedian, he had me laughing almost immediately. Be careful — he’ll mess with yah — but in a good way! I deducted one star because my ommelate was very slightly undercooked(they apologized and made it perfect afterwards) and it would’ve been nice if they’d had salsa for an ommelate topping, but that’s just my preference. On the other hand my hash browns were done perfect, even though I had an unusual request for them to be cooked dry(I hate oil soaked hashbrowns). I will definitely go here again and recommend giving them a try.
