Queen of All Saints-Parochial School

My daughter has been attending QAS since kindergarten and she is now entering the fifth grade. We absolutely love it here. The feeling of community is one of my favourite things about the school. They are always active in bringing the community together. My daughter has blossomed at this school from a shy little kindergarten who would never raise her hand into an outspoken little girl who always volunteers to do the talent show. The teachers are great, I haven’t had an issue with any of them this far. The always keep the lines of communication open and respond to my emails and/​or calls timely. They are always free to talk. Community and family are very important to QAS. I love the mission statement and they do a great job instilling the importance of compassion and integrity in our children. My daughter is an active SAINT, she is learning to be a skillful communicator, active and responsible citizen, independent life long learner, to nurture community and to be thoughtful and faith filled. I am so glad we found QAS for my daughter. And now with all the updates, new floors, cork boards, windows etc, everything is looking so good. Can’t want for the updates and development to come.

I just graduated from here last Saturday. I started attending this school when I was in Pre-​K or TK as it is known now. I overall had a good experience during the years I spent here. I will miss my wonderful classmates some of whom I was with since I started school here. As some of you may guess, I already felt sad about leaving the school a little before graduation. I’m sorry to see bad reviews for my school on here.

We are new to QAS but we were favorably impressed by the family atmosphere of the school. Everyone seemed to know our child immediately and he soon made friends with classmates as well as with children in higher and lower grades. His teachers are very caring and enthusiastic about working with children, and I have found him to be challenged by the academic tasks. He is benefitting greatlly from the small number of students in his particular grade level (4^th grade). I have also seen him grow spiritually and develop more of a social and moral conscience since he has been at QAS.

Our daughter started 4^th grade at QAS (she is now in 7^th) and since then, there has been a huge improvement academically and socially. She is more confident in what she does and overall just happy. Tuition is more than reasonable compared to other private schools in the area.

The tuition is very reasonable.
The teachers and staff are responsive, attentive, and treat parents and students alike with respect.
When there are behavioral issues, they are dealt with swiftly and with good communication to the parents.
I suspect the people leaving bad/​poor reviews here don’t want to do the actual work involved in raising a child on their own and then attribute their own personal failures to raise a human being to the school. Guess what, it’s you, not them! Try harder.

We decided to send our oldest son to Queen of All Saints several years ago after having a poor public school experience. When we enrolled him he was in the 7^th grade and we were very nervous about putting him in a new school. We found the school staff and families to be very welcoming, supportive and loving. The academic program was very good and the class sizes were amazing. Our son recently graduated from high school and still has life long friends that he made at Queen of All Saints. We feel that his time at QAS was well spent.
We now have a 4^th grade student at QAS and we couldn’t be happier. We started him in kindergarten and he has received a top quality education with a program that supports diversity and a love of God. The staff is very caring and willing to do whatever it takes to help every student. We love the community and couldn’t imagine being at any other school!

Before writing about Queen of All Saints Parochial School, let me give you a very brief family background. My children began their education in Philadelphia, PA in an award winning charter school founded in multiculturalism. We then moved to a state that boasts having the best public schools in our country and my children furthered their education there. When we were transferred to California by my husband’s company, I was mortified by the large class sizes and crumbling education system. Though, I have always been a proponent for the public school system, we chose to invest in private school once relocated to California.
Though we toured many private schools in the Walnut Creek, Concord and Pleasant Hill area’s of the East Bay, we decided to join the Queen of All Saints Community. It was not as polished or aesthetically updated as some of the other schools we toured, so our choice is often surprising to other parents in the area.
What separated Queen of All Saints from the other schools was its children. In my initial tour I was delighted by many of Queen of All Saints offerings (one of my children has a class size of 13, while my other child has a class size of 25– this contrasts with other private schools who have class sizes of 40 – 42 children for every grade), an art room (many other schools do not have art programs), the music program, the after-​school community and offerings (such as private music lessons, one-​on-​one tutoring and dance lessons), but most importantly… the happiness of the children.
My children are still in the lower grades, but I am always thinking ahead. The middle school years are tough for all children, and what separated Queen of All Saints from the other schools was how HAPPY the children of the upper grades genuinely seemed. I watched them interact with their teachers and with their principal and with the other children in a way that reflect joy and community. And for this reason we joined the Queen of All Saints community.
For the past year and a half I have watched my children grow and thrive. I have been amazed by the parent/​teacher/​faculty support. I am empowered by the way people nurture each other and one another’s children alike. Most importantly, I have seen my children be academically challenged and I have watched them meet those challenges with positive reinforcements, excellent teacher communication and amazing faculty participation.
And now I understand why children in the upper grades are so happy. At Queen of All Saints the children are given projects to work on in Faith Families. Children of all grades are blended and worked together to express feelings, work on projects and solve problems. The older children watch after the younger children in church. This year, the younger children designed dolls and then the older children created these dolls. The kids never feel isolated. They always feel connected and supported.
At Queen of All Saints I do not just feel as though my kids are part of a grade… they are honestly part of a healthy, wonderful, caring, nurturing and thriving community. This community is socio-​economically and culturally incredibly diverse. It lacks judgement and encourages acceptance and tolerance.
It saddens me to read negative comments about Queen of All Saints because my bar was set pretty high when we joined this community after moving from the best public school system in the United States. Not only has Queen of All Saints met my expectations, but it has surpassed them.

I totally agree with Claudia and the person who wrote on ⁵⁄₁₁. The quality of the school has gone down significantly. This school is an upgrade of public school… thats all it is. The Principal is very rude and is full of herself.
Not a highly recommeded school. Lots of other very good private schools arounf the area.

I can’t nearly thank the QAS team enough for the past eight years and I don’t feel any words or actions can truly express how grateful and blessed we are to have them in our lives. I am confident that no matter where life takes my son, he will be successful in anything he does because of the strong faith filled and educational foundation they have helped build within him. I have never met an educational team like them who truly care, and take It quite personally, the success and well being of each individual student. Their care for my son will never be forgotten and will be sorely missed though they’ve helped him move on to his next goal in life. (Congrats Class of 2012!)
The actions of the QAS cannot go untold, so I will continue to promote QAS and let everyone I know how wonderful this school is. They will forever hold a special place in my heart and I HIGHLY recommend your child to attend this school!

I wish I could give them zero stars, this is an awful school, kids get bullied, and no one cares, teachers target students whose parents have the greater income in their classrooms and the rest of the students are simply ignored, my son went to this school for two months, and too many horrible things happened during that short period of time, there are too many to list them all, but some of them were: He got bullied by other kids and when we brought up this to the teacher and principal’s attention we were ignored, the teacher in 3^rd grade corrects kids by slapping them on the back or screaming at them, these were my son’s complaints on a daily basis. The office is not better: one day my son left his lunch at home so I drove back to the school to drop off his lunch at the office at 8:30 am, I gave it to the secretary, he never got his lunch on time for recess at 12:30 how cruel is that? the secretary is never there you will only find kids of higher grades answering phone calls or helping visitors, are they crazy? these kids should be in class learning! They will tell you they have been having some changes, and everything is for good with the new principal yada yada yada, this is the worst school ever… Also, curriculum here is a joke, do yourself a favor, and stay away from this school.

My 10 brothers & sisters and myself went to grammar school here. Nothing has changes since then, still a top quality school.
