We can tackle those annoying repairs that have been sitting on your to-​do list, but beyond that, we can help you plan and carryout your bigger plans for a remodel. We are a full service licensed and insured contractor which gives you the peace of mind you need when embarking on a large project in your home. Our specialties include kitchen remodels, bathroom remodels, electrical, painting, plumbing, drywall work, home organization and shelving, pergolas, finish carpentry (wainscot, molding, crown molding, baseboard, casing, cabinet installation, door replacement), flooring, fencing, windows and doors, demolition, and property management work. We are happy to serve clients all over Contra Costa County, Solano County, and Alameda County.

We’ve used Greg’s team twice and are very happy with the work they’ve done. His guys are wonderful… we would adopt any of them! We had new mantles made, recessed lights installed, sheetrock, paint, plumbing, electrical wiring, etc., and they did a great job, paying attention to detail. They are courteous and patient., and they offer different options, which are usually than the ideas I came with on my own. We highly recommend Greg… you will be happy with his work!

Well, I wanted to update this review as I heard from Greg Skeen as a result of my initial review. Unilocal does help folks. I was excited as I hoped he wanted to make things right, and it seemed like that may have been the case. He became part of another business Elevate Design and Build. He came out to my house and I discussed the work I needed to do and it seemed like he was going to do it, fix an oven door, replace a tile in the kitchen, but in the end, he backed out and said he didn’t think he could fix the oven door, and did not address the tile. He sent me an email telling me he didn’tt rust his expertise to fix the oven door. Go Figure!!!
Anyway, it didn’t work out, and again my belief is that the job wasn’t lucrative enough, and/​or he didn’t want to deal with me anymore. Anyway, good luck if you contact this business. Even though they say on their website that no job is too big or too small, I don’t believe it.

OK, but needs management and oversight.
Greg did couple jobs for us. The quality was ok, but one just left somewhat sour feeling that after done bulk of the work is done he is not interested in finishing touches and just wants his check.
Anyway, we gave another job to Greg. I supplied him with all the information I had about products he has to install and manufacturer installation instructions. His people done some good job, but I was invoiced 30% more then the original quote. We didn’t agree since Greg had all information he needed beforehand to come up with accurate estimate. He tried to bill me extra for a work that is clearly described in manufacturer’s instructions.
His negotiation tactics where very «unusual», he even intimidated me to dump the old scrap material on my front yard.
We won’t use Greg Skeen for our future projects and can’t recommend him.

I have used Greg’s company in the past for several small jobs with excellent results. So when I needed a skylight installed in my flat-​roof condo, he was my go-​to guy. It was a much bigger project than I’d anticipated, involving building an insultated 6 foot sheet-​rocked shaft. Greg and his team were superb, got the job done beautifully and were polite, friendly and cleaned up after themselves wonderfully. I finally had to tell, Adam, who was doing the shaft mudding and texturing at the end of the day, that I appreciated his perfectionism, but it was perfect already and he needed to go home! Nothing but the highest praise for these guys!

Having seen the great Unilocal reviews, I contacted Greg about building a new gate for my parents’ fence in Concord. Living some distance away, I expected it to be difficult to coordinate this, but Greg made it incredibly easy from start to finish. He inspected the fence and got me a reasonable estimate within a few short days, scheduled someone to do the work the following week, responded kindly to a bunch of last-​minute requests/​questions/​additions from me and best of all, the work was done in a way that exceeded my parents’ expectations. They described the quality of the gate as both ‘beautiful’ and ‘very solid,’ and found Greg’s crew member extremely professional throughout the day. They could not be happier, and neither could I. I would trust Greg with any future job, and my parents would as well (which is saying quite a lot). Most importantly, now my parents can finally get the ‘post-​retirement dog’ they’ve wanted for years!

I didn’t have the best experience, but after giving my feedback to Greg, he did everything to make it right. That included sending 2 guys out the next day, fixing the items and doing a good job at it, and he was willing to refund the money I originally paid him. Below are couple of things I noted:
1. The whole process took too long. Exchanging emails, and voice mails, getting an appointment. Painfully slow.
Below review was regarding the first appointment I had and Greg has since addressed this issue:
I was not happy with the original appointment. I was charged 2 hours the minimum fee, but during the 2 hours, it included a lot of time discussing the items that needed repair and him «estimating a quote». It turned out the quote was not good and Greg had to come out a second time. So I felt like I paid for 2 hours but part of that time went to the company just providing an estimate. Also, for the 3 items he fixed. 2 out of 3 were not resolved. The blinds he re-​installed some were still not hooked on right. I had to re-​do them myself. The sink clog was still clogged.

Had Greg’s crew come out in late September to replace the bathroom floor that was rotting thanks to water damage from a leak in the toilet.
Once again they did a great job! Greg even went out of his way to make sure there would be someone there at the agreed-​on time when another job they were working on hit a snag. That’s above and beyond anything I’ve encountered service-​wise anywhere else.

We used Greg Skeen’s to install a dog door, a set of fireplace doors, and a new faucet. These are things I probably could have done myself, but it would have taken me 9 times longer and would have resulted in a lot of extra oopses.
Greg Skeen’s did a great job, charged a great price, and Greg and his colleague, Dan, were friendly and respectful of our home. Moreover, they are trustworthy, which is more important than price. We will definitely use them again!

Removed old mailbox and post (using jackhammer with small shovel attachment for old concrete). Sunk new metal post in concrete and assembled and attached new mailbox. Live office person promptly returned initial call and follow-​up email. Project started and completed within two hours within lower range of original quote. Total was $ 120 labor plus $ 30 materials.

Greg Skeen’s team is awesome! I needed a few minor fixups around the house (caulking the sink, fixing closet doors, fence repair etc). I live in a newer home and never had to get help until now as I did most of the minor fixups around the house myself. But this time I decided to get help. I also anticipate needing help in the future as I am going to be renting out my house. I got quotes from 2 other people but it seemed high. I decided to get hourly help from Greg instead and it worked out to be the cheapest ($ 100 to $ 200 cheaper). His guy Dan was very courteous and honest. I thought I had to replace the track for my closet door. But he just straightened it to save me money. He also had to run out to the store twice to get some parts, but didn’t charge me for the second run since he felt it was his fault.

There’s a huge range of jobs between home renovation and changing a light bulb, and Greg and his team do all of them just about perfectly. I have personal knowledge of his work on four houses, as diverse as from installing a micro hood to replacing a foundation sill plate and abating termite damage to siding. His team works fast and for a very fair price, his assessments and estimates are clear and honest, and most of all… the most important thing ever… everything he fixes STAYS FIXED. I wish I could say that about all the tradesmen I’ve worked with.
Greg is a pleasure to know and work with, and we give him the highest recommendation.

We recently bought a house that had been used as a rental for 20 years. We were lucky enough to inherit the original carpets, linoleum, and lovely kitchen. First on the laundry list was to get rid of the nasty carpet that covered most of the downstairs as well as the kitchen linoleum and replace it with hardwoods or something like it. I’ve never needed a contractor before so I turned to Unilocal.Greg came over on a Saturday and was awesome. He patiently listened to everything I wanted to do, offered thoughts or suggestions, and answered questions about the kitchen (that’s not in my budget yet). He even went out back to look at the deck and retaining wall that’s years down the road for us. He took some measurements and a few days later sent us over a detailed estimate on everything we wanted to do. It’s made it so easy for us to pace out the updates we want.
We scheduled the floors and partial wall demo for just a few days later. I can’t say enough great things about the floors or the experience. Not only was engineered flooring Greg picked better than we expected but the demo and install were painless. His crew was friendly, clean, and fast. Greg’s prices are dead on with what I was expecting (at least for floors) and even better than I was expecting for some of the other work we want done. I wouldn’t hesitate to use Greg for anything we needed done on our house and I recommend him to everyone. Now I’m just killing time until I can call him to schedule the next round of work. I called Greg with a garbage disposer issue that my tenant was facing and he was gracious enough to explain how to fix the problem ourselves. I was able to communicate to my tenant the scenarios Greg had detailed and she fixed the problem with out a service call. I’m adding Greg’s name to my phone address book, so that I don’t have to go search in Unilocal again.

Just had Greg come over to align my doors and also some other household activities. I found him amazing — he came at the shortest notice and did an excellent job. He seemed very honest, thorough and professional. It was nice talking to him and I found him very experienced and analytical.

Greg & Keith did the demo of my kitchen and installed kitchen lights for me .They show up on time, explain the process so I could understand and answered my emails very promptly. The clean up was also wonderful. I thought this would be a scary process, but Greg made the whole process easy. He’s a very nice young man & honest. I would not use any one else and highly recommend his business!
