Tabernacle School

I attended this school for years myself. Looking back I have to admit I have some really great memories… except a painful crush on a girl I sat next to for years (due to alphabetic seating) that I had no courage to do anything about. Sigh.
Anyhoo… I did drama at this school (even won a blue ribbon as King Arthur during a big production), played sports, excelled in running (not so much today), learned computer skills (such as computers were way back when), enjoyed some great teachers (kudos to Mr Souza for teaching me the perfect free-​throw shot) and generally had a great education experience.
I admittedly don’t know if standards today have changed but I can say that I turned out pretty well if I don’t say so myself.

I have read all the comments about this school but nothing is consistent. Yes it’s based upon Christian belief but that is a personal choice. My kids been going there for sometimes now, we are very happy with the way teachers are solving con fleet among teenagers and recreating a loving, respectful environment. To all the teacher some more and some less but they do love teaching. I personally feel very happy to be able to provide safe environment for my kids. Any school can face a bad teacher or bad circumstances but it’s up to us as a parents to communicate!!!

I really like this school. My son went there starting the summer before pre-​k. The teachers genuinely seem to care about the kids, working with them individually on struggling areas. My son uses his imagination in his clothes, drawings and plays pretend. I love that they accepted it and encouraged it. Because he is an active little boy they worked well to teach him there is a time to be active and funny and there is a time to learn and listen. I feel like the whole staff is genuine with the best interests of the kids. The jog a than last year was exceptionally put together and organized. So far he has received a great education.
The price is hard to beat as well. I would definitely recommend Tabernacle.

Dear Tabernacle,
Please STOP sending me your ‘hello neighbor’ flyer.
We tried to enroll our son at your school a few years back. You were warm and friendly during our meeting until towards the end when you finally figured out (after numerous mentions on the phone and in person) that he has gay parents.
Then your tone and manner changed and said the Tabernacle community would not be a good fit, and may even be hostile towards us.
You then proceeded to tell us about the little girl that had two moms who only lasted six month and transferred out because of being ostracized.
Kids learn from their parents and their teachers– the adults in their everyday lives. We’re glad you showed your true colors before we were subjected to your ‘inclusiveness.‘
I thought I’ve moved on, and left this bad experience behind. But you keep sending your FALSE ‘Welcome to the neighborhood’ JUNK mail, so here I am on Unilocal saying,
Thanks, but no thanks. You are definitely NOT my neighbor.
And please, for the love of God, save some trees and stop sending out junk mail.

I attended Tabernacle Christian School from Kindergarten through 8^th grade.
I do not follow Tabernacle’s particular Christian ideology. In my humble opinion, Creationism and science are not mutually exclusive. Nor do I believe that there is only one «correct» religion. From this point of view, I believe that Tabernacle impresses some questionable beliefs onto the malleable minds of its students. However, Tabernacle is a private school that operates within its First Amendment right. Don’t like it? Send your kid to another school.
Despite my theological differences, I sincerely cherished my time at Tabernacle. I made a number of close friends that I continue to remain in contact with. The students were, for the most part, well-​behaved. I did not witness any instances of serious bullying, drugs, weapons, etc. The teachers were also truly concerned about their students’ well-​being and education. The curriculum was fairly rigorous and prepared me for my first year of high school.
I also enjoyed a number of other perks at Tabernacle. The computer classes were highly practical! I even learned to type 60 WPM prior to the beginning of Junior High. The interscholastic sports program was a lot of fun. Playing soccer for Tabernacle was one of my favorite grade school memories. The elective PE courses offered students opportunities to gain new skills (e.g. Golf Class). The foreign language courses were enlightening. These courses prepared me to succeed in my high school Spanish classes.
Would I send my child to Tabernacle? Tough question. I’ll cross that bridge sometime in the next decade. With that said, I am confident that Tabernacle continues to be place where students develop academically, socially, and ethically.

I’m so happy I’m able to send my son to Tabernacle! I know when I take my son to school he is in a safe and caring environment. Great teachers! Great education! Great school! What more could u ask for??? My youngest will start in month and he can’t wait!

My daughter has been attending this school since 1^st grade. She is now in 4^th grade and I couldn’t be happier with the education she is receiving. She is learning Spanish, computers and Violin in addition to the regular 4^th grade curriculum. They teach the children to be kind to one another and they teach them about Christianity. All of the children are very well behaved and well rounded. The first person to comment on this school was obviously a screwball.

I was truly shocked by the post written below. Now, I realize this was a couple years ago but WOW! I came from family that had high expectations when it came to education so I was so very picky when looking at schools for my little one.
My daughter started Jr. Kindergarten there this year and I have to say that I couldnt be happier. She is learning things on the Jr. K level that my friends who have their kids in other schools arent learning in 1^st grade! The classes are small, and the teachers are very warm and loving. The school itself has a strong sense of family and values plus she gets religious instruction without having it crammed in your face. They call themselves an Open Heart School, which means basically yes, it is religion based but there is no expectation to donate a ton of the money to the «church» in order to have your child attend their school, and no pressure to attend their church, which I personally love. I would recommend this school to anybody in a heartbeat.

My daughter has been going to school here for a few years. We have feel in love with this school. The staff and teachers are great. My daughter went to Queen of all Saints and we pulled her out because she was not learning. We have seen a big difference since she has been going to this school.
I highly recomend this private school.

I can’t believe this school is still open.
Is there any accountability whatsoever for private schools?
I went to school here several years back for seven unfortunate years, and when I finally told my parents just a couple things about what went on at that school, they immediately pulled my sister out.
Of course there were one or two wonderful inspiring teachers, but most people were pretty scary. Think Sarah Palin. That was the attitude.
Random things that I remember:
–one of my teachers (while staring at me) said that people in India had leprosy because they weren’t «saved»
–there was no sex ed, but we were shown slides of aborted fetuses in 7^th grade
–kids used racial slurs like «camel jockey» on a daily basis and the teachers did nothing about it
And if that doesn’t deter you because you’re one of those racist, anti-​choice, Prop 8 supporters, maybe this will – I just looked up one of my crushes from this school, and he’s totally gay. I went to this school, and I’m totally your heathen nightmare. Do you want your children to turn out like us?
