Business Owner

Dr. Makedonsky practiced as an ophthalmologist in Kazakhstan for eight years. After moving to America, he went to Berkeley Optometry school and graduated in 2003. He opened his first private practice in San Francisco in 2004 and has been helping patients there for the last eight years. He is fluent in both Russian and English.

During his free time he likes to spend time with family as well as travel.

I was greeted by the eye doctor himself when I entered the door. He doesn’t have a receptionsit, so if you’re in need of a job, this would be a relaxed place to work. It’s nicely located with just a 5min walk from where I live. The place is large and clean; very open with two rooms located in the back. It was also empty which is not surprising because I was there on a Wednesday at 2:30pm. During the exam, he was very thorough and informative. My insurance only covered either glasses or contacts and I opted for glasses for financial purposes. He was very considerate and gave me the choices for all the free frames to choose from. I ended up picking a Marc Jacobs pair for $ 40 more which isn’t too bad in the long run. I would reccommend this place!

Strongly recommend that you go elsewhere.
My prescription was completely wrong as he checked my vision after dilating my eyes.
He was negative from the time I told him I had Lasik 10 years ago. Blamed the incorrect prescription on previous Lasik (what a joke). Was not thorough and very unprofessional.
Do yourself a favor and go anywhere else, STAY AWAY

Such an amazing doctor! I honestly have never enjoyed going to get my eyes check as much as I did here. Dr. Makedonsky will spend as much time as needed to figure out exactly what your eyes need. I would definitely recommend him to anyone. If you are not comfortable in your glasses or looking to get your eyes checked … then this is the place to go and the doctor to see!!!
