I agree they don’t believe in customer service over their lying employees who make you seem like a monster when you are really the nicest guy in the world .that’s why i don’t like them they should hear both sides of the story then just to believe someone just covering their ass .So, people want see that she is a ice princess/​witch from a walt Disney film to put it nicely. what ever happen to respecting your fellow human beings instead of making fun of them that’s really good customer service NOT!!! What ever happen too hearing both sides of the story before making your mind up .don’t I get may day in court to at least hear my side of the story before passing judgment on ME, and making me look like a monster .that’s not cool at all. BMT you suck. what ever happen to treating people with respect, but when you don’t get respect your the first won to flip out and play the drama Queen. ThaNKS alot for ruining my life.

I have been a customer at Bryn Mawr Trust company for twenty five years. What I can’t believe is how sleazy the bank has become. They engage in a practice called «re-​ordering» when they process your checks. Unlike PNC or TD or Wells Fargo they process the highest debit/​check first regardless of when it was presented. They do a daily discernment where they clear the biggest check first rather than a date and time clearing. This allows them to generate more overdraft fees. Recently I had three transactions hit on the same day. The first two debits to hit had plenty in the account to cover but not enough to cover the third. When I checked my account in the morning the first two were posted and I still had a balance. Later my account on line was changed to show the largest check trying to clear first. This move created three over drafts, not one. Frankly I am in disbelief that a bank I have trusted for twenty years would engage in such a deceitful practice.

Unlike the other reviewer I actually bank here. The associates are extremely friendly and helpful. No fees and very good small bank feel. A hidden gem in the commoditized world of retail banking.
A note to clarify the other reviewer’s remark about the ATM. Their machine has a swipe reader and could not have retained the card.

Thankfully, I don’t bank at Bryn Mawr Trust. I do, however (or, did in this case as I’ll never EVER go there again) frequent their ATM every now and again as it’s the closest one to my house, and my bank is too far since I moved.
I went to Bryn Mawr Trust (I’ll call them BMT herein) to get some cash out last Friday night around 9:00 for a trip I was going on the next morning. I put my ATM card in… The usual crap occurs (pin number, checking or savings, amount, etc), and then it asks me if I accept the $ 2.00 fee or whatever, to which I press «Yes.» Nanoseconds after (before dispensing any money), I see this message on the screen that says, «Unauthorized use — retaining card.» And it sucks my damn card into the slot!!!
I was like «huh?» What the heck happened? I didn’t even get my money yet, nor did I do anything out of the ordinary. I’m not trying to sound cocky, but um. I have been using ATM machines for a long time now and I _​think_​I would know whether I was doing something unauthorized. So, I’m looking around. I can’t go INTO the bank because they’re closed. Now I’m just inexplicably without an ATM card (hellooo credit card use), and still in need of cash.
So, fast forward to me having already reported the card stolen to MY bank since I was nervous and out of town and couldn’t go by to ask the bank branch if they had it. My bank told me there was absolutely nothing wrong with my card/​account, and that it must be an issue with that bank and/​or their ATM.
Monday rolls around, and I call BMT to see what in the world happened to my card. This woman answers, «Sue» (of course, because why WOULDN’T that be a bank teller name), and I tell her my card was «retained» by the bank. She interrupts me, and says «Well, you probably left it in there too long!» Annoyed, I told her that wasn’t what happened. She interrupted me again, and finally I said, «No. That’s not what happened, it was really unusual. Do you want me to tell you what DID happen?» And, here’s the clincher. She replies, «Well, no. today’s my first day.» I could not believe that.
In our economy, and in an industry so dependent upon customer service as banking, don’t you think you’d want to at least pretend you care? Seems crazy, I know, but… Come ON. So, Sue told me they’d check and see if they had my card and call me back… They did, but my card was already reported stolen so it’s useless anyhow. What a nightmare… Now I’m waiting 7 – 10 business days for my new card… Sigh…
Boo, Bryn Mawr Trust. You suck!
