Dr. Laura Pels and Dr. Sandra Elston provide Comprehensive Eye Examinations, Contact Lenses: Fitting and Evaluation, Ocular Disease and Treatment, Diagnosis and Referrals when needed, Consultation and Education, Glaucoma screening, Digital Retina Imagery, Laser Vision Co-​Management, Prescription Eyeglasses and Sunglasses, Designer Non-​prescription Sunglasses, In-​office Optical Lab, Large Contact Lens Inventory for same day service, and Free Frame Repairs and Adjustments (some restrictions apply).

Designer frames include BCBG, Candies, Fendi, Fossil, Guess, Coach, Michael Kors, Juicy Couture, Nicole Miller, Ray-​Ban, Ted Baker, and many more!

History

Established in 1991.

Practice started in 1991 as Ousley & Pels Eye Associates in Coppell, Texas and was located on Beltline Road. This was a partnership arrangement. The practice was purchased solely by D. Laura Pels in 1998 and the name was changed to Coppell Vision Center. The office moved in 1999 to MacArthur Blvd. In 2003 Dr. Sandra Elston joined Dr. Pels as an associate. The practice moved to a free-​standing building in April 2009 that is owned by Dr. Pels.

I am a doctor hopper, and I don’t think I’ve gone to the same vision center more than twice in my adult life. I’ve been going to Coppell Vision Center for the past four years. Both Dr. Elston and Dr. Pels have been fantastic with my son, and me. Their staff is friendly and caring, and very good with small children. I think what I like best is how much time both doctors have taken to really explain my vision to me, and help me understand why I can’t read menus in dark restaurants any longer.
The only downside is how hard it is to get an appointment!

We are a family of 4 and have been seeing Dr Elston for over 12years. For some reason my daughter got switched to Dr Pels. Both are GREAT Dr.‘s and the staff is professional. HOWEVER… my daughter was having severe stomach issues and missed 3 appts. The last one she missed bc she had an emergency appt with her gastrointestinal doctor. When they called to remind me of the appt I was sitting in the other dr’s office and told them why she was missing her eye appt. At that time they let me know that my daughter could NO LONGER see Dr Pels or Elston bc she missed 3 appts. I understand missed appts are missed money and they are running a business. I hate to leave them but it would make no sense for my daughter to see a different dr than the rest of us. I wish they could stop and remember when they were just starting out years ago in their small location… I was one of their FIRST patients and have referred at least 15 or 20 families to them! So much for loyalty! But they are good eye drs!

Came in dec 18 for an eye appt was told 5 – 10 days for my new glasses. It is now jan 2 and still no glasses and no ETA on them either. Flying back home and will not have my current prescription with me. When I asked about them nicely twice, I was brushed off. I have been a loyal customer for over 5 years. This is completely unacceptable.

Your eyes are important. Get them looked at by a pro. Normal office visits are in line with everywhere else. Other things are a bit higher. Make sure you are comparing apples to apples if you shop around. Cheep lenses scratch easy and become useless.

I have been going to see Dr. Pels for over 10 years. She is so knowledgable and makes the patient experience her focal point. Her staff is very professional and attentive — they always go above and beyond to make sure the little details are covered.
If you are in the area, or not, this is the place to get your eyes checked.

The doctors were fine, the glasses ordering was not. First, the people working there could not help me at all because they were so busy discussing their social lives and parties and such. Finally, they were able to steal themselves away to take my order and money. Then they said they would call when the glasses came in. They claim they tried to call one time and never tried again. They got a busy signal and did not try hanging up and redialing. I would never ever order from them again. I did like the doctors just fine, but I doubt I will bother to go to the doctors again with the way I feel about the glasses ordering people there. It was rude and the doctors own this business and should keep better handle on how things are being run. This was unacceptable.

I have been a patient of Dr Elston and Pels since 2009. They are kind and talented practitioners who always spend extra time getting to know their patients and plenty of time educating them as well. This summer I traveled to Michigan with only one pair of contacts… I lost one and with a small fee for shipping, their team sent a trial pair overnight. I was so grateful for their help as I could not find a practitioner in Michigan who could help me because I wear toric lenses. I highly recommend this practice for exceptional customer service and eye care.

I really appreciate how much the office does to try to help you out. She even arranged to have my contacts ship directly to my house!

Dr. Elston is really helpful and friendly and I took her for granted. Went to Vision City in Las Colinas because I had a Groupon. Huge mistake. Dr. Elston isn’t an overpriced product-​pusher like the doctor at Vision City. My cheapness ended up costing me nearly $ 200. Won’t make the same mistake again.
