Dr. Alex, a New York Native, earned his MD from the University of Rochester School of Medicine, followed by completion of the General Surgery residency at University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Alex then went on to complete his Orthopedic Surgery residency and a Fellowship in Hand Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr Alex is Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery with Certificate of Added Qualifications in Surgery of the Hand.
He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery, American Society of Surgery of the Hand and the New Millennium Hand Club.
He is actively licensed in Florida and Hawaii.
Dr. Alex speaks Spanish and Japanese.

Dr. Stephen Alex attended medical school at the University of Rochester, completed his general surgery training at the University of California, San Francisco and his Orthopedic Training and Hand Fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania. He is Board Certified in orthopedic surgery with added qualifications in surgery of the hand.
His broad professional experience across the country has enabled him to learn, train and work alongside the best hand, wrist and forearm surgeons and doctors nationwide. For the last 20 years, Dr. Alex has worked as an Orthopedic, Micro-Vascular and Hand Surgeon in Miami and Hawaii and his interests include peripheral nerve disorders, hand and wrist trauma and complex hand reconstructions.
Dr. Alex is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery, the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and a unique member of the New Millennium Hand Club.
Since 2005, Dr. Alex has been a member partner of the Miami Hand Center.
