The food is made by your adopted Abuelita. No where will you eat in Miami and feel like you are in a Cuban grandma’s house as much as this place. The food is amazing and tastes as homemade as it gets. The Abuelita owner is hilarious and says the funniest things. No hair on that tongue. This is an experience that may not be here long although I hope it is.

Like many of the other reviewers have mentioned the food is AMAZING! If you’re looking for authentic Cuban food then Cafeteria Plaza Madrid is the place for you. Her Vaca Frita and Calabaza to die for. I’m always dieting so I don’t go to her as often as I’d like but I love how her food tastes just like the food you’d get at home from your favorite Grandma DELICIOUS! :-)

I agree with the previous review. Great food and great prices. Nora is a great hostess.

Excellent food, great and friendly service. It’s like eating at grandma’s house. Also, don’t even get me started on the portion sizes. You can feed a small African village with 1 to go container. She fills than up so much they don’t even close. You have to come by and try it. You won’t regret it.

Not fancy ATALL, but when you walk in and sit down, this nice older Cuban lady comes and takes your order. Then she proceeds to cook it right in front of you. I ordered the chicken breast. She cooked up the chicken with onions, piled on the rice, fried plantains, and a side of red beans. This $ 9.00 lunch was more than enough food for 2 people. I think I could actually make 3 or 4 meals out of this! Again, you’re not coming here for the atmosphere, but the food tastes great and has that home-cooked quality.

This place is as authentic as it gets. It is not fancy, but it is absolutely delicious and clean. You have full view of the kitchen where your(fish, chicken, pork, meat) dish will be freshly cooked in front of you. It is a great atmosphere and the amount of food that you get is good for 2 people, costing you no more than $ 10 a plate. I always recommend this place to anyone asking for genuine Cuban food :)

A cuban friend showed me this discrete lunch place. When you walk in there is a bar to sit at or I believe you can sit in booths in the front too. According to my friend they have a new menu everyday with about 5 options — I ordered the fish(it was delicious). The owner Nora serves the entrée w/moros or arroz con frijoles, and yuca or maduros on the side. The food was great — interesting atmosphere, and good price. With a soft drink, coffee and a huge lunch meal(more than I could eat) it came out to be around $ 10. If you are looking for home style food — this is a place to check out.
