A and M Comics & Books

This place is full of nostalgia. They have a huge selection of comics to chose from. They also have a good amount of mangas. I also liked the collectibles and figures that they have in stock. I see some bad reviews, but I think its a good shop. Its very old school. If there were any downsides the place is small, no counter to pay really, and they could use some more modern merchandise like pokemon, etc… They prices were a little high but its good quality stuff, and I checked online their prices match pretty well. Head down there you will find a couple things.

Went today with a friend to pick up some vinyl records for my new record player! Got some great ones like led Zeppelin, zz top, Genesis, allman brothers. They were all in very good condition and priced very well ranging from $ 4 – 10! The owner was very helpful and let us do our thing digging through multiple stacks of vintage records. Will be returning to check out what they have in the future!

This is one of the coolest places in Miami. They have everything– 2002 Frieza action figure, yup. Wonder Woman comic from the mid-​eighties, the one where she returns to her matriarchal home in the Amazon, «right over here» one of the guys will say and pull it out of a box without even looking. It’s like a museum of awesome. I may have exposed my inner geek with this one, but A & M is worthy.

The place is fantastic and kids will love to go! They have a tremendous selection of collectables for adults as well. You can never go wrong by buying some one a present from the store. The staff is knowledgeable and great fun! A place you should not miss right in your own back yard!

I’ve been to most of the comic shops in Miami looking for the final issue of Huntress — Crossbow at the Crossroads, and they have all let me down. I walked into A&M today, told em what I needed, and behold, it was there! SO happy!

This small comic shop in Miami took me back through time like a suped up Delorean! The classic comics and toys and figures and games and on and on and on and on! Damn! I was truthful when I told the clerk I’d pay to hang out in there all day! My buddy picked up an original 1977 Star Wars board game! This place is awesome and is now on my list of must hits for every time I’m in town.

This place is a real gem. It’s filled with awesome stuff that reminds me of different times of my life, from childhood to the super hero shows I love now like The Flash. George is so friendly and welcoming, it’s worth a visit just to meet him! They even offer a subscription for your comics, so you don’t have to go every Wednesday. Check it out you won’t be disappointed!

It may look small on the inside and it may feel cramped since they have a lot if stuff, but the employees always know where everything. They carry most new comics so if you arent a collector trying to fill holes for your collection, its awesome. Collectors can have a blast there too.

I’ve been coming to A&M since I was a child. It had been a while since I visited but not too much has changed except that there is a lot more stuff and a lot less space to maneuver around the store. There’s something for everyone in this crammed shop, just have to do a bit of digging.

It’s funny that it says that people «Love them» on Unilocal.I certainly didn’t. The store Is a COMPLETE mess. Barely anything is priced so you have to constantly ask the workers if you want to know anything. And with so many things there and such a mess, it’s a real pain going back and forth asking the prices of 85% of the store. The few things that are priced are stupidly overpriced. Like, this guy’s don’t seem to know anything about comics. If they do they don’t seem to know about prices. It honestly seems like they grab a comic, check the highest price online. Then DOUBLE that and just store it away. I’ve been here a couple times but I think this is the last time I will come here.

What a cool little comic book shop smack dab in the middle of bird road. It might be easy to miss but you don’t want to miss out on the awesome collection of comics, figurines, model kits and more that’s available at A and M. The staff is very friendly. I have to note sometimes its easy to feel intimidated in a nerdy environment when you’re a girl but I didn’t feel that at all here. Let your inner child run loose and get your hands on some awesome collectibles!
The one downside to the location is how small it really is given the amount of items crammed into the store. Its kind of like a hoarders paradise. Nonetheless awesome stuff in there. Just don’t expect to comfortably enjoy coming with a large group.

The first time I stepped foot in the place I thought for a moment I stepped into a time machine. It’s a trip down memory lane. They have all your pop culture needs. From comics to statues and everything in between they got it. The staff is also amazing. I love hearing a great tale told by George and he’s very knowledgeable about everything in there. He’s just a great guy all together. So 5 out of 5 is my review. Because 1. Amazing products and collectibles and 2. Amazing staff.

This place is no big deal, a bit overpriced and runned down with a weird smell when you walk in. If you want to go to a cool store, I suggest you drive a little and check out «TATES» in Broward, you won’t be disappointed. I really do wish there were other comics and collectibles stores in Miami though…

Best place to find any kind of old and new collectible antique comic book action figure manga. they take subscriptions and are very friendly

I had read the reviews of A&M but decided to try the place out for myself. I can say it was a mixed bag of emotions. While any collector can appreciate their huge inventory and selection of back issues, the warnings on the reviews suddenly came to mind. The place is super-​cluttered, disorganized, and badly maintained. Even if you know what youre looking for, youll never find it without asking for help. Im not sure who the owner was there when I went. There was a person working the counter who was yelling and swearing about some business issue the entire time I was blindly digging through water stained boxes (Theyre alphabetically labeled, but not really). He was helpful enough when I asked for assistance, but the audible drama of the shop had me feeling uncomfortable my entire visit. I understand sometimes people have bad days… but your customers dont have to be engulfed in it…

Six months ago I promised never to go to this place. Well I broke my promise to myself and I wish I kept my promise.
If you decide to visit this comic book store be prepared for a few things.
1. This place is extremely dusty and cluttered.
2. Prices on the books do not mean anything! So after dealing with dust and searching and you find one that you want make sure it has an accurate price or it is over priced or they will not sell it to you. Well they will sell it to you but for more money. I wish they would keep accurate prices on their inventory.
It seems like every time I go there I am helping them update their pricing.
Stay away unless you don’t mind helping them out.

A&M Comics is a Miami institution. Packed to the gills with comic books, graphic novels, vinyl records and oodles of memorabilia, A&M comics has something for everyone. You can easily get lost in the bins, ceiling hangings or stacks of this dark, overcrowded store. Yes, it is overstuffed and at times daunting to take all in but it is the top tier customer service of George and Xavier that makes the experience sublime. They are well read, engaged and terrific guides. They are helpful and go the extra mile to assist. So, in my book? It is a 5 star experience– said and done.

I’ve been going to this store for over 20 years and it has lost none of it’s charm. Been reading comics for 38 years and stores like this don’t exist anymore. You can go to the corporate stores but for a unique store this wins hands down. The staff is great and accommodating and I can honestly say I’ve only had good experiences there.

My husband went on Free Comic Book day (May 3^rd 2014), which when we called ahead of time were told they were participating in until 5pm.
At 4:15pm when he arrived at the location and asked how the process worked, the clerk told him they were no longer participating, because «It’s raining outside and we just aren’t» Very disappointing and not to mention he had our 3 year old with him that was looking forward to his first comic books.
Definitely would not return to store and will tell all my friends about the experience.

If you don’t mind the clutter it’s perfect for you! This is the oldest comic book shop in South Florida! They have the more vintage stuff like the 50’s to 80’s. Sometimes I wish it was cleaner! Lol but it’s a good place for comic book buyers that really like to dig in there.

I am completely in love with comic books and collectibles and almost instantly love anything having to do with them. I feel like whenever I’m going to a comic book shop I’m predisposed to be happy. Walking into A and M was no different. Then I looked at my surroundings and I realized that this store wasn’t for me.
The clutter is just endless and the smells worry me. There are boxes of comics that have probably been sitting on the floor longer than I’ve been alive. There are boxes that can no longer be reached because they’re under mountains of other material. At what point do you feel like you should start getting rid of some stuff? On top of it all, some of the more recent comics here are priced a bit higher than at other stores. I just don’t get it. I feel a little bad saying this because I know that the owners must love comics even more than I do, but the mess is just too much.
On the upside, you can find some older comics that aren’t readily available in most other stores at A and M, which was the reason I wanted to go. The owner is a real nice guy! He took the time to help me search for a few graphic novels I needed (we’re talking life and death here!) even though he knew they weren’t in stock. He was full of answers and suggestions as to where else I might be able to find them. I can’t say I don’t appreciate that level of attentiveness. I took it upon myself to attack a few boxes with comics that had been bagged and boarded and found a pretty cool Elseworlds Batman comic but left it because it cost more than it should have (sigh.)
I think that if you know what you’re looking for beforehand, you can ask the owner and be out of there pretty quickly. I still think the phrase «don’t knock it ’til you try it» applies here. If the store has been open for decades, it means there are regular customers coming in every month to feed the obsession. It would be ignorant of me to say they have nothing to offer.
1 star for organization and cleanliness, 3 stars for variety, 5 stars for customer service.

2.5 but I’ll round up given how impressive it is that a comic shop has been around for 30+ years. That’s quite a feat. Also, the gent who runs this joint is a nice guy and helped me out with some directional challenges I was facing. Appreciated.
That said:
the shop is pretty tiny which wouldn’t be such a big deal if;
it wasn’t so junky, cluttered and disorganized. Comic collectors are known for… collecting. We have long boxes, stand-​ups, computerized filing systems, and a knack for detailing panels in comics we haven’t read in years like we just read it yesterday. We’re organized and tend to look for it in other aspects of our lives… but, especially, in comic shops. I was very uneasy here. It smells of dust and age. The aisles are narrow. I couldn’t find the specific books I was looking for without help. There was just… stuff everywhere — like something out of Hoarders. I instantly felt the urge to call my mother and apologize for the slovenly way I kept my room whilst a teenager. It’s *that* bad.
Like I mentioned, props and respect for being an old guard of a dying breed (#nevergodigital) but, for the love of collectors old and new, please clean up your act — literally.

Given their longevity and the fact that they’re one of a VERY small set of options here in SoFla I wish I could review them higher, but walking in there is every functional comic book collectors nightmare.
It’s crammed with stuff. It’s mildewy. You are made to feel like an outside if you’re not a regular, and the two aisles literally cannot pass two people at a time.
It’s got so many of the stereotypes of a comic shop that leave you wishing they’d completely overhaul the place.
I went on Free Comic Book Day this year and although I was impressed to see so many parents bringing their kids there, I couldn’t help but feel like they were so skeeved that they wanted their kids to pick out the free comics ASAP so they could get the hell out of there.
